Dagoth Ur's mask is a sun and Sermon 11 is a thinly veiled threat to the Nerevarine that if he fucks up, Vivec will rewrite him as the devil in the temple religion. What is a sun? A star. What does the indoril helmet look like? A crescent moon. Sermon 11: "Hortator and Sharmat, one and one, eleven, an inelegant number. Which of the ones is the more important? Could you ever tell if they switched places? I can and that is why you will need me." MOON and STAR

The Clockwork City
Was Sotha Sil saying it was perfect because everything is programmed to do a thing instead of organic chaos giving everything choices and this diverts it from the eventual inevitability?

I achieved CHIM last night.
Vivec is Michael Kirkbride's self insert. This is how he achieved (partial)CHIM himself; the two are the same but Vivec is not an individual within the dream. AMARANTH was just Kirkbride moving onto other projects. But with two halves, one in universe and one outside of it, allows for Vivec to be omnipresent and Kirkbride to be able to continue lore. The heart of Lorkhan has been enslaving people to build giant gods so he can be resurrected. (Numidium and Akulakhan, both to be used to unite the entire land of Tamriel into one huge empire, because Lorkhan's main goal was to become the one and only deity of the world) The Dwemer disappeared because they were about to resurrect him, which is an affront to Auri-El, so the gods deleted them from existence to stop Lorkhan from waking up. No other race has been able to create the same technology since. (Except Sotha Sil who made a new heart as guided by Lorkhan in the clockwork city in which Lorkhan may still exist) Dagoth Ur wasn't a bad guy and 4D chess'd us all. The reason he kept reawakening was due to The Heart. Akulakhan was going to be another vessel for Lorkhan to resurrect into. His spirit was enslaved and was refused the dreamsleeve so he could finish his task. Being Mer and not Man, (therefore, naturally against Lorkhan) he was driven mad by the power of The Heart to keep him on task. He used his new godhood to go back in time as a trick. He would tell the Nords where Shor's Heart was to appease Lorkhan, by telling himself about the heart. No one else knew of this; Nerevar had to consult with Azura to confirm Voryn's story. Meaning knowledge of The Heart was only attainable by gods. After the Nords were defeated, Voryn used this knowledge to turn the Chimer against the Dwemer so Numidium wouldn't be awakened.
But this action caused a dragonbreak. We don't know what happened at the Battle of Red Mountain (the second one) because every possible outcome happened all at once. This is why there are so many differing accounts. Dagoth Ur knew he was bound to The Heart and would have to complete Akulakhan. He spread the word of his efforts through the Ash Statues to let the people know he was still there. This would eventually allow the Nerevarine to find him. Lorkhan allowed his influence to spread because it meant more Mer on his side. Once the Nerevarine appeared, they slayed Dagoth Ur and Lorkhan together. Dagoth Ur won, he was free and the ultimate enemy of Mer was also defeated. It was his will all along to stop the rebirth of Lorkhan. There is nothing left of him after the fight because he was deleted from existence in the same way the Dwemer were. By doing all of this, Dagoth Ur mourned his own tribe. They were erased from existence due to their connection to him as the Sharmat. But by removing Lorkhan from the world, he did the greatest good that could have been done and gave the greatest honor to the Sixth House. He never betrayed Nerevar or Mer. It was just a really, really long con.
