From Sofía to "Alarma Sofía:" The case of the missing girl in Argentina.
Tumblr media
"Alerta Sofía" was created 25th of November in 2019 to coordinate the immediate search for missing children and teenagers whose lives are considered "Imminent High Risk". The name of the alert was originally based on the case of Sofía Herrera, who disappeared when she was 3 years old on September 28th, 2008. She was last seen at a campsite located in Río Grande, Ushuaia, Argentina. The testimony given by a non-commissioned officer belonging to the provincial police, who participated in the search for Sofía, and the description given by one of the children who were at the campsite where Sofía disappeared led the police to believe that the suspect was José Dagoberto Díaz Aguilar. The police officer stated that he had spoken with the suspect, who assured him that he knew Sofía's whereabouts. Despite this, this was not taken seriously by the police until someone else took charge of the file in 2017. The kid who gave the description was cited again by the judge in 2020 who ratified his version. Police haven't found the suspect yet, who is now a fugitive of justice. I believe that the suspect has returned to his native country, Chile, and I feel that he is the killer because he has been accused of many different kinds of crimes, such as killing his neighbor. Also, how would he have any kind of knowledge of the kid unless he was involved in the process of kidnapping Sofia?
