As I promised here's the new redesign of Obi!!! I'm so excited about his new look and lore. If you're interested in reading more about his updated lore you can see it under the cut. Also, Malleus is here too.

Above are some early concept sketches I made for his redesign. They are.... rough. I wanted something roughly inspired by the Chernabog and pulling in ideas from Grim and the blue fire. I really like how his final redesign looks compare to these sketches.

Let's start with the very basics:

Who is Obi?

Obi is the MC for chapters 1-7 in twst. He is the current prefect of Ramshackle dormitory.

What's he like?

In a word, he's dramatic. He's loud, and if he's not making a spectacle then he's probably egging Grim into one. Ever since Obi came to NRC he's been trying to get people to form the "World Destruction Club". It's not going well.

Wait- He wants to destroy the world?

Well... yes. He does. But he can't do it anymore because he's lost a lot of his power. Obi could replenish it if he were to just consume one of the many convenient Overblotters nearby. But, eehhh. They could be more useful as minions than food. Yep. Totally.

(It's not that he's secretly starting to care about these shit heads. Nope. Never gonna unpack that)

So, what exactly is he?

Well he is two things simultaneously.

Obi is a child that stumble into the world of Twisted wonderland

The phantom born from the despair of a lonely child lost in another world

What's the deal with the big arm?

That's Obi! Well, part of him anyways. When he was more of a menace he could manifest more of the phantom to attack and cast spells. But now... he can't really do that anymore.

(This keeps him up at night. What is he without power? What is he without the rage that kept him alive? It's like he's the last embers of a flame that once scorched the earth. Empty, useless, forgotten. Ashes that will be blown away. The world has already forgotten him, he's really nothing at all.)

for some context, in this world, some people have unique abilities! Nikolai has the ability to mind control (or control) any living being with his touch. As for Tiradej, he can control electricity but he’s not good at that yet so he gets electrocuted every time he uses his ability💀-

As mentioned before, Yuu and Grim are both yokai in this au !!

Yuu is the ghost of a young aspiring photographer who mysteriously died in his teens. Back when he was alive, he considered Grim to be a mischievous stray cat, not knowing he was simply a yokai in disguise. Their backstory together is still in the works, but this is what i have as of rn ^^

story wise their roles are kinda similar to that of Whisper n Jibanyan in the sense that Yuu is adeuce’s first introduction to yokai and grim is essentially Resident Asshole Cat 😭😭

when it comes to their human disguise and their usual yokai form, there aren’t a lot of visual differences to take note of tbh. The main key differences would be the cane and the pants. While in disguise, Yuu’s pants don’t have the little tears at the bottom, but they are more likely to be seen with the cane due to a previous leg injury when they were alive

while in yokai form however, the cane is mostly rlly an aesthetic choice. Despite this, Yuu does occasionally feel similar phantom pains in both forms

On the other hand, Grim in disguise looks like a regular cat save for the faint blue coloring of his ears and the split tail !! Yokai grim is honestly just regular grim though tbh…….

the two “haunt” adeuce’s shared dorm and tend to accompany them to classes and such !!

What was the point, even!! I don’t need to be drawing up fake cards of not real characters- least of all Platinum Jacket. Wait, what am I yapping about it’s totally real, I’m just the only one with a personalized copy of twisted wonderland with a bunch of exclusive characters in it 😫🤭 Anywho, It’s not perfect, but at least I accomplished something. Are ya proud of me yet— even if it is just more Nyoka Wadjet.

I have this in my draft for a long time now and only posted it now because of this short comic help😭🙏

I should explain what is happening right? So, this was set when Jun-Pa stole Siphok’s identity against her will. Siphok was trapped in a jar during this time. As you know, Siphok is Jun-Pa’s soul, and Jun-Pa needs her soul back to be able to go into the afterlife and meet her father. When Jun-Pa revealed her true motives to Siphok and asked her to “merge” with Jun-Pa, Siphok politely declined.

I mean, who wouldn’t? Siphok wants to live and be with her friends. Totally valid, right? Well, not to Jun-Pa. Siphok unfortunately couldn’t escaped in time before Jun-Pa trapped her in an ancient jar. Those who go in, can never get out unless they are freed from the outside.

Jun-Pa was only doing this to give her a little scare, but who knew committing fraud can be so difficult?! While they both do look alike, their personalities were quite different. Which is why a few of NRC main casts can tell something was off. Floyd, for one, says that his “shrimpy is not squeezable and too stiff” and also finds her off putting. The beastmen have sensitive noses, and Jun-Pa smells like incense, they are also off-put by her. Leona later on told Jack to keep an eye on “Siphok”.

Ortho can definitely see that “Siphok” has no vital signs (AKA no heartbeat or breathing because, well, Jun-Pa is dead) and was alarmed. Jun-Pa managed to silence Ortho just in time before he made a ruckus.

Storyline aside, the last frame of “Siphok” was supposed to show Jun-Pa’s not-yassified-form. I wasn’t feeling like drawing any gore, so I only gave her some burnt marks. The shattering line across her face was inspired by old Thai mannequins that is kinda creepy. I couldn’t capture the creepiness much here so I do apologize because this was quite rushed😔🙏
