La Vie Parisienne gives us “The Aeroplane Hat”, 25 November 1916. There were aeroplane inspired hats all the way into the 1920s, with a giant bow at the front for the propeller blades…although I doubt this particular version was ever street style!

Armand Vallée (1884-1960), French painter, was also a fashion designer, poster designer, illustrator, and cartoonist. Specialized in naughty scenes as, a pencil virtuoso, he worked for many illustrated newspapers: “Fantasio,” “la vie Parisienne,” “Ridendo,” and “And Ric et Rac.”
