I used to play the xylophone, the marimba, and the glockenspiel and it makes me so fuckin angry when people pull this shit
Okay so it seems like people will call any mallet percussion instrument a xylophone and I’m here to teach you shit.

This is a xylophone. The wood part is thick and it’s high pitched.

This is a marimba. It’s huge and expensive. No like a small one costs over $4,000 (3186.20 euros). The key things are really long and thin.

Now do you see this beautiful instrument? This is called the vibraphone motherfuckers. Or just the vibes. Anyways it sounds amazing. I could marry the sound. Basically, it;s made of metal and you have a pedal to stop it from ringing too long.

This is the glockenphejksdfjkl. I have no idea how to spell it, so lets just call it the orchestral bells. If you hit this shit too loud it can burst your eardrums.

These are a joke.

He’s an awful person, he got charged with battery against his pregnant girlfriend and nearly beat a man to death because the man was gay. Still not cool to celebrate him getting shot though /:

A tall, burgundy haired woman with a long nose and the most prominent freckles pulls me into her arms, running her tan, lanky fingers through my long golden hair. I feel a cold sting against my neck as many gold rings adorn her fingers. This is the goddess. My people have feared her for centuries, and every ten years we have lost one of our own to her grasp. This was the tenth year, and I was chosen to be the sacrifice.
“Do not worry,” she says, with a deep, yet comforting voice that reminds me of the sound of rain on a crisp spring morning, “I will not harm you as your people say I will.”
I’m tense in her grasp, but my body slowly begins to ease as her words soothe my frightened mind.
“What is your name?” Her voice rings through my ears like the sound of soft ocean waves, rushing against the sand.
“Lily, m-my goddess.” I speak softly, but surely. I would never defy the goddess.
“Please, just call me Venus.” She loosens her grasp on me and eventually drops down her arms and wraps both of her hands around mine. Her eye contact is loving yet I can’t bare to keep looking. I suddenly grab ahold of what is around us.
There are other people, past sacrifices, two that I know. These were all people who lived in my village. Their mouths are open in shock. Did they not get the same priveledges that I am?
“Y-yes, my godde- Venus.” I almost slip up but catch myself, the goddess looks pleased. A small smile is prominent upon her tan skin. I hadn’t noticed how beautiful she was until now, the books certainly don’t portray her right.
Our surroundings are light, hazy. It feels like a dream. my feet are bare against soft ground, clouds? Whatever it is, it’s white enough that my pale skin and flowy white dress nearly blend in.
“Do you know what these.. sacrifices.. are for, A-.. Lily?” She nearly calls me something other than my name, simple mistake, I think. She speaks with a certainty about her that sends chills down my spine, however, she winces and pauses at the word sacrifice. I suppose she doesn’t like the term. I look at her long, flowing hair and get lost in the burgundy strands, her bangs are tied back and upon her head is a dainty gold chain with a lilac jewel that rests just on her forehead. I almost don’t notice when she begins to walk in the opposite direction, her right hand still intertwined with my left. I quickly stumble after her.
“N-no, I don’t, Venus. M-my village only said it was to appease you.” I tap the end of my right index finger against my side, nervous. I cannot see her face, only her flowing hair and the sheer lilac dress that trailed behind her. I hear her chuckle.
We keep walking and she never elaborates, I’m sure she’s waiting until we’re somewhere more private. She begins to pick up her pace and I can tell we’re nearing her destination, however, she says nothing. Her hands are warm and inviting and I cant help but hope she never lets go.
She leads me up a steep hill and runs the fingers of her left hands over the wild lavender that grew around her path, I can see her smile when she turns her head to look at the fragrant flowers. Her soft skin glows in the sunlight.
As we reach the top of the hill and begin our descent, I now see where we are headed. A grand palace lies just ahead of us, made of marble and gold, I can see vines of white flowers that adorn evey accent of the structure. Gardens of white roses surround the palace, blue jays and doves flutter about them.
As we get to the gardens, Venus’ voice suddenly reappears after a good 10 minutes of silence.
“Lily, my husband died many centuries ago.” She begins, I‘m shocked at the sudden change of mood, however I simply nod, encouraging her to continue.
“He was a human, just like the people of your village,” she says, I can hear the remorse in her voice, “humans die, gods do not.” Her grasp on my hand tightens as we continue forward.
“When the holy war commenced three centuries ago, he was quick to perish, along with many other civilians of my kingdom.” Her pace slows, and I realise we’ve reached the gates. She raises her left hand and the golden gates glow teal, opening with a soft creak.
“These sacrifices were not to appease my wish for destruction, I am not angry over my late husband’s death.” I nod, everything I’d ever believed about Venus simply gone from my mind at this point.
“I called for sacrifices because I wanted a spouse.“ She says, her gentle tone returning to her voice. I tense up in shock and my face flushes bright pink, could she mean me? There’s no way she could mean me.
We enter through the gates and head up the steps to a large room, with an elegant fountain in the center and intricate paintings scattered along the walls.
“A spouse with holy blood.” I mentally sigh, I guess she didn’t mean me after all. Why is she bringing me here, then? We pace to the fountain and stop, she turns towards me. The glittery lighting from the water frames her face and she kneels slightly in order to match my height. She smiles genuinely.
“They sent me normal humans, until they sent you.” The hairs on my neck stand on end as I wait for her words to continue, what does she mean? I’m just a human. When her mouth opens again, I’m finding it hard to believe I’m not dreaming.
“You’re a goddess, Lily, and your name is Aphrodite. I wish to ask for your hand in marriage.”
You’re chosen as a virgin sacrifice to the principle god/ess of your people. You’re cleansed and garbed and paraded through your village as ritual commands and led to the border between your realm and the realm of the gods. All you know is that past sacrifices have disappeared and never returned. You expect to be enslaved, ravaged, or worse. You don’t expect the god/ess to take your hand and draw you close, and you certainly don’t expect what happens next.
