A tour with Dental Tourism!
A trip to the palaces. Jaipur, situated in Rajasthan is one of the known places for historic beauty. I and my friends visited it last summer. Tourism in India and in Jaipur was seen in full fledge even in the hot scorching sun. Foreigners were in great number. In our visit to one such palace we met a lady from US. Mary Hanks, she was on a solo trip. We asked what attracted you to be here. She chucked and said,” Actually I’m here for my dental treatment. It is cheaper and my trip to India is covered in the same expense that I would give to my dentist in US.” She was from Chicago, a quite expensive place though.
We all wondered what it is so much with dental care in India. We surfed a bit and found out about dental tourism. Which is basically to migrate temporarily to other country for dental care as it is cheaper. Dental tourism in India is the cheapest and mostly preferred.
Dental Tourism means traveling abroad for affordable dental care, dental treatment, dental surgery or dental procedures, which are generally expensive in one's own country.
Dental tourism forms 10 per cent of the total Indian medical tourism which is projected to grow at 30 per cent to Rest 9500 crore by 2015. World class Dental Clinics all over India with US trained dentists and specialists in Dental implants, smile design and cosmetic Dentistry or even teeth whitening. Dental Tourism involves Tourists seeking dental care in a foreign country, while on a leisure tour of that country.
Dental Tourism happens for a lot of reasons. But most of the time the choices are made on price considerations .Most often tourism in the dental healthcare sector happens from developed countries to low cost developing economies. It could also be due to the differences in funding of dental healthcare or ease of accessibility to it. It provides complete dental care covering dental surgery and dental care.
We were sitting for our lunch and the above points were mentioned and discussed. One of us asked which all procedures they include. And here goes the list,
Dental procedures include:
Dental Scanning - Intra mouth, Surgical Intervention, Ceramic caps without gold under microscopic control, Prosthesis on the implant Dental treatment India, Vertical and horizontal bone grafting, Gum Grafting, Palatal orthodontics, Fluoride treatments for children, Maxillary surgery, Over denture, Combined prostheses with milling, Dental Bonding, Dental Bridges, Dental Caps, Dental Crowns, Dental Fillings, Dental Implants, Dentures, Root Canals, Teeth Whitening, Tooth Contouring and Reshaping, Composite and Porcelain Tooth Veneers.
“Is it that inexpensive?” Sahil from the group asked. Reena read it from the phone, “Dental treatment in India is inexpensive as compared to the western countries. India, we have clinics with state to the art equipment’s and well trained experienced doctors to match the best of international standards.”
“I see! How come we were unaware of this purpose? Anyway I’m glad India is attracting tourism for all versatile reasons.”
“Yeah! And also while you’re here for your treatment they may also want to do a little bit of site seeing. The hospitals love to help them out with local travel arrangements. Just fill in the form that are given and they’ll send you a customized plan & itinerary that suits your needs.”
“This is great. Between where are you all reading this from?” our food digger karan finally looked up from his plate and asked the question.
“Oh! You were listening, it was from apex med tours.” And we left for the journey ahead.

Dental Implants aren’t Scary as you think!
Many people may be cautious about dental implants and sway towards removable dentures due to lack of confidence or understanding. But if you suffer from missing teeth, loose dentures or you’re unable to eat food you enjoy – dental implants are a fantastic option to consider.
He woke me a few times to ask me if I was doing okay, which I was. I also woke a few times to them talking about the procedure. I also woke when he was drilling in to my jaws. Overall, the procedure was very easy on my part. When she leaned the chair back up I saw that it was about 12:30pm. The procedure took about two hours.
The nurse put my Envisaging back in, ensuring that it did not interfere with where the implants were placed. She then took two more x-rays. The nurse explained to me that they grafted bone in two places and also did a sinus lift. She retrieved Tyson from the waiting room and gave me a few instructions... don't blow your nose for 24 hours, change this gauze after it fills with blood, and go get something to eat like a milkshake so the IV medicine doesn't make you sick. As she was telling me these things I noticed a lady was being walked out a door near me and I said "What did you do to that woman?" (Jokingly... as she needed help walking). He said "Way more than I did to you!" Oh. Well that's a relief. Someone has it worse than me? Can't be true!
I was moderately uncomfortable when we got home. I took out my Invisalign, which was half-filled with blood. Very gross. I changed my gauze and left my Invisalign out for a few hours. I was hungry so I made some soup. I waited to eat it until it was Luke-warm. A numb tongue and hot soup does not mix well. I also ate some ice cream. Afterwards, I rinsed with a salt-water mix and then with the oral rinse they prescribed me. I lay down in bed and rested for a little while with a cold-compress on my cheek. When I woke up I was in a little bit of pain, but not bad. Mostly just uncomfortable from the strange sensations in my mouth and the numbing wearing off. I took some of my medicine and went back to bed. When I woke I made myself dinner which was more soup and ice cream.
Many people who have experienced tooth loss from tooth decay, an injury or gum disease may want to explore the option of dental implants. If you are having trouble eating hard foods such as fruit and bread, or you would like to improve the appearance of your teeth then this is also a great reason to consider treatment and find out more.
Mostly anyone can be suitable for dental implants. If you are healthy enough to have dental extraction and you have healthy gums and enough bone density you can be considered.
Also, it is important that you have good oral hygiene and you make routine appointments with your dentist to ensure you teeth are happy and healthy. The more you look after your implants, the more likely they will last during your lifetime and you won’t experience any problems.
If you smoke or suffer from chronic disorders such as diabetes or heart disease, make an appointment to see your dentist. They can advise if you can have treatment and evaluate you appropriately.
Whether you have just one tooth you’d like to be replaced or a whole set – the choice is up to you!
I have read in a very good website that my friend recommended me apexmedtours.com; Dental implants can change your life for the better. If you have suffered from low self-esteem and discomfort from missing teeth, dental implants can make many of your worries disappear.

I am lucky to survive Long term Problems.
Typhoid is highly endemic in many parts of Asia, in communities without access to safe water and basic sanitation. The points out that even in the more affluent communities and tourist destinations of typhoid endemic countries, travelers are still at risk of contracting the disease through contaminated water or food. Because of this, travelers should stay away from questionable food and drink that may have come in contact with contaminated water or an infected individual. It did not heed this warning. He admits to eating meals that most wary travelers would and should avoid.
Waterborne illnesses are common in India; diarrhea, a primary symptom of these infections, kills 1,600 people daily. I was told to only drink bottled or filtered water, and to avoid raw fruits and vegetables in order to decrease my risk of getting sick. As they say, “Boil it, cook it, peel it, or forget it.”
There was only so long I could last avoiding fresh fruit, and my willpower gave out as mango season began. I was also tired of eating Indian food all the time, so when the opportunity arose for me to live in my own apartment for the last month of the program, I did. I was excited to cook for myself, and the kitchen was good-sized with a water filter above the sink, which I used to wash all fruits and veggies before eating.
That night, I tossed and turned, hobbled to the bathroom every hour, each time shocked by the amount of fluid that was somehow still coming out of my body, may be they were signs of typhoid. My forehead was burning, and I was sweating through my sheets. I had never been so sick, and soon realized this wasn’t going to be something I could wait out. On Saturday morning, I threw my laptop and a change of underwear into a bag, stumbled into the street, hailed a taxi-wallah, and checked myself into a private hospital.
It was a case of food poisoning. "I was prescribed antibiotics by my GP, but I couldn't hold down anything I swallowed, including the tablets. It was quite frightening, but I was just too ill to do anything about it. I finally went to a hospital casualty department and they took a stool sample. I had to wait for three or four days for the result. When I was diagnosed with typhoid, I was really shocked."
There are many precautions one must take not to fall prey to disease: sleeping under mosquito nets, drinking only bottled or properly filtered water, never eating food prepared and sold by street vendors, never using public or shared restrooms — the list goes on and on. Despite my best efforts in maintaining all these rules, most of which have become second nature, I ended up with a typhoid infection. The most common vector of this disease is via the ingestion of food or water contaminated by a species of typhoid causing Salmonella bacteria called Salmonella typhi.
These bacteria are spread when sewage water is ingested or when a typhoid carrier handles the food you are about to eat. I have tried my best to retrace my steps and am at a loss as to where I could have been infected. I never eat anything other than meals prepared at home and only drink bottled water and medicines for typhoid. In the in end, all that mattered was that I had become infected and I was going to be very sick.
"Because I'd already traveled to India several times, I didn't think about typhoid. I knew I was travelling in areas where typhoid is a risk for tourists, but for some reason I assumed I would be safe. I haven't been back to India, so haven't organised a vaccination yet. I feel lucky to have survived without long-term problems."
Avoid risky foods and drinks. It may surprise you, but watching what you eat and drink when you travel is as important as being vaccinated. This is because avoiding risky foods and drink will also help protect you from other illnesses, including travelers’ diarrhea, cholera, dysentery, hepatitis A and paratyphoid. I’m thankful to apexmedtours.com for sharing useful information and some important points to be considered while this yellow fever.
Get vaccinated against typhoid fever. You will need to complete your typhoid vaccination at least 1-2 weeks (dependent upon vaccine type) before you travel so that the vaccine has time to take effect. Typhoid vaccines lose effectiveness after several years; if you were vaccinated in the past, check with your doctor to see if it is time for re-vaccination.

Secure your breast with more hope!
There was a sudden loud ringing of my phone, where I realized I forgot to silent my cell phone before the meeting.
It was my cousin calling. I was really close to this one he was my mom’s sister’s younger son. I did not receive saying I'm a bit busy but he insisted on talking. I moved out from my conference room and called him back. "Jay, are you okay?" All I heard was sobbing on the phone. He was crying loud this time. I asked him again, "Jay, tell me what is wrong? Did Aunt shout on you?" "Didi, mom....." "Aunt what?" I was not understanding what was wrong. "Mom is detected with breast cancer Didi...” and he broke down again.
Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in women. This cancer begins with the formation of a malignant tumour in the breast.
I did read this long back somewhere. I came back to my senses and asked Jay if aunt was all right? He assured she was asked to be operated and go through chemotherapy.
I told him I'm coming down with the next flight. I reached there by night to see my aunt all sad and shallow.
After dinner, I was sitting with Jay and my aunt in her bedroom. I asked what did doctor say.
'They said it is stage I cancer and as my mom had it is hereditary. There are 4 to 5 breast cancer stages. I have known this and assumed it to be passed in my genes. I'm just worried about Jay"
"Aunty, you don't have to worry it is the first stage. It is treatable. There is breast cancer treatment available. It has a surgery and radiation therapy."
I continued seeing some hope in her eyes, “I read few breast cancer awareness articles. They gave information about what it is, how you know it is present, etc."
"You can know breast cancer symptoms just like that?" She asked.
"Yes, it is a new lump or mass which is considered as the common sign of breast cancer. We can also detect it with mammograms. Either your breast size changes abnormally or you might have to swell of your breast and there are few more."
“What did they tell you about the surgery?"
"They said it will go through the process of surgery, radiation and hormone therapy. He has asked me to go through the lumpectomy, will be removing a small portion of my breast having cancer."
"Hmmm, they may remove the breast cysts which are outgrown now. Did you do a BRCA testing?"
"Yes. They asked me to go through it. It showed cancer symptoms and the test was positive."
Jay spoke up," Mom was asked to some blood tests for breast cancer too. It was CA125 something."
"Oh! I was reading a health article and came across DCIS, Ductal Carcinoma in Situ. It is non-invasive cancer where abnormal cells have been found in the lining of the breast milk duct."
"You know there is a breast cancer awareness month every October. “Said Jay who was half in senses.
"Aunty I think you should sleep. I just dropped to know you are doing fine. I will come along with you tomorrow and will get the details right." we both bid her good night, switched off her room lights and came back to our room.
"Jay you need not worry now. She will be fine. It is treatable. Now close your eyes and sleep. I will take it from here."
"Thank you, Didi."And we slept to smile again.

Dental care- Your smile is precious!
I was waiting for our turn and was flipping the pages of a magazine. I was with my aunt in a dentist's clinic. She had been complaining about the pain in her teeth. So, we had got an appointment with a dentist. After the examination, we were asked to sit and he guided us. I had always had a thought, that being a dentist is an easier job as comparatively to other fields of medical. But, that meeting with him changed my considerations. He opened up more pages of the facts to us.
“Why oral health (dental care) is important?”, I questioned him. He then talked about how people take lightly when it comes to oral health. Well, it’s not just about bad breath or loosening of teeth. In fact, there are many serious problems if you ignore your oral health conditions. Who doesn't love a smile, that never fades and looks good!
He briefed us about some oral diseases.
● Oral diseases? Be aware!
Ignorance towards your teeth can lead you to bad oral health and conditions like:-
● Oral cancer
● Bad breath
● Dry mouth
● Dental erosion
● Cold sores
● Tooth sensitivity
The two main diseases that may affect your oral health are:-
1. Dental caries (tooth decay):-
Tooth decay occurs when the bacterial processes demineralize the tooth surface and the plaque in the bacteria takes place on the surface. It produces acid which that gradually eats away tooth enamel and forms the holes. The main reason behind developing a cavity is our lifestyle. Old people and children are at a higher risk of tooth decay, as their enamel is vulnerable.
So, it's important to take care of your oral health routine.
2. Periodontal (gum) disease:-
This a bacterial infection caused because of plaque. Plaque can be harder if not removed and it forms tartar. The bacteria cause gingivitis that is inflammation of gums. If gums bleed on more than one occasion, you have to consult a dentist.
When gingivitis is not treated it can lead to periodontitis. Wherein gums pull away and form spaces. And if this problem is not treated eventually the gums and the tissue that support the teeth are destroyed.
He also gave some knowledge about root infection and enamel degradation.
➢ Root infection:-
When the root of a tooth becomes infected it damages the nerves inside the tooth. It causes painful abscesses.
➢ Enamel degradation:-
It occurs because of exposure to sugar or alcohol. The acid in these ingredients removes enamel day by day. Over brushing can be another reason.
● The causes:-
I asked him about the causes that affect oral health. So he told us about few common reasons:-
➢ Smoking, drinking
➢ Diabetes
➢ Other medications and treatments
➢ Other illnesses
➢ Hormonal changes
“Everything comes with remedy”, he said. We were explained about some treatments and prevention.
● The treatments and prevention:-
➢ Flap surgery: - It is performed to remove tartar and to lift back the gums by a dentist or a periodontist.
➢ Bone and Tissue Grafts: - In bone grafting a bone(natural or synthetic) is placed in the area where there is bone loss.
➢ Root canal: - In this procedure, dentist drills a hole in the top of the infected tooth. The motive is to remove infected nerves and pulp tissue.
➢ In the case of tooth decay, the only solution is tooth filling and cleaning. But, the best way is prevention only. That only works great. Take care of your lifestyle.
Here are few preventions and follow ups:-
➢ Brush your teeth properly. It is advisable to brush your teeth at least two times in a day.
➢ Regular flossing
➢ Clean your tongue daily.
➢ Regular checkups to your dentist
➢ Leave smoking
➢ Avoid tobacco, sodas, alcohol, coffee etc.
➢ Consume the sources of calcium and other vitamins.
➢ Use a softer toothbrush, that doesn't wear out your natural tooth enamel.
At the end, he said, “ Maintaining a good smile is all up to you and your awareness. A clear smile reflects it all!”

If lost health,you lost Wealth!
Staying active means keeping your body functioning at a high level. Regular exercise will maintain the performance of your lungs and heart to most efficiently burn off excess calories and keep your weight under control. Exercise will also improve muscle strength, increase joint flexibility and improve endurance.
Additionally, it can decrease your risk of stroke, colon cancer, diabetes and high blood pressure. Regular exercise has been long associated with a fewer visits to the doctor, hospitalization and medication.
Exercising does not have to be something boring and dreaded. It can be something that you enjoy that helps to increase the overall happiness in your life, as well as relieve symptoms of stress, depression and anxiety. Try to find some activities that give you pleasure or even a buddy to do them with so that physical exercise is a fun and enjoyable activity (and one that you continue on a regular basis because it adds something good to your life).
Healthy minds reside in healthy bodies. Men and women indifferent to their health cannot either be intelligent or make good artists, poets, public servants and useful members of the society. Most of the great and successful men and women owe their success to their outdoor physical activities, playing habits and exercise in their youth. Their athletic habits, cultivated in their youth, always stood them in good stead later in life. Consequently, they always possessed sound health and mind, leading them to the crowning glory. Their mental vigour, exuberance of thoughts, vivacity and enthusiasm for work came from their robust health, and physical fitness, which they obtained through regular exercise, game and sports, long walks, swimming, horse-riding, yogic postures and such other activities. The way to health, happiness and success lies through physical work, exercise and animal robustness.
Dining out usually involves eating heavily and unhealthily. Most of us are prone to ordering deep fried food and oily dishes as opposed to steamed or baked food. Thus, though eating out are unavoidable, parents of children and adults as a hole should order fresh food and foods that are nutritious and not laden with oil, fat or sugar. Once a pattern of healthy eating is established, it would be easier to carry through such a lifestyle and for the children to follow suit.
Physical health and mental health are interlinked. If someone is mentally fit but physically ill then his/her body is not going to support him/her. And if someone is physically fit but mentally ill he/she will be unable to enjoy their physical fitness.
Mind is a controller and body follows it and body must be healthy in order to follow the commands. Mind alone can't make you walk; you need your legs in proper condition to act on commands given by the brain. Similarly if you have your body in proper condition but there is no one to command then it is useless.
So equal attention should be given to both mental and physical health to enjoy the beauty of life.
Everyone! It is important for all people to stay active throughout their lives. Because of busy work and home lives, more than 60% of Americans do not get the recommended amount of physical fitness daily and these numbers generally increase with age.
Throughout adulthood is one of the most important times to maintain an exercise regimen. This is the ideal time to maintain your weight, build strong bones and prevent many chronic health problems like high blood pressure, heart disease and diabetes.
Many adults do too much exercise at once. After a long work-week, many people try to fit lots of activity into the weekend and push their bodies excessively. This sudden increase in activity can raise the risk of injury which would then stop activity for weeks. Experts AT APEXMEDTOURS.COM recommend working out several times over the course of a week with varying exercises for the most benefit to your health.
The best time to have physical exercise is early in the morning and late in the evening. It is heartening to note that yogic exercises, postures etc., have been introduced in our schools and colleges. Through yogic exercises we can develop both our healthy minds and bodies. These exercises are very scientific and time- tested and goes a long way in facing and eliminating stresses, tensions and worries of modern materialistic life.

Rejuvenates yourself with Laughter Yoga!
“When I first heard about Laughter Yoga, I was skeptical and a bit creeper out by the idea of forcing myself and others to laugh. What, no jokes? I wondered how laughter could be generated without a sense of humor,” “What if someone is depressed or just doesn’t feel like laughing? Some of the people I work with have been through horrible experiences. How dare I ask them to laugh? So many people hide behind fake smiles and laughter, so isn’t pretending to laugh somehow inauthentic?”
Naturally the idea to go spawned out of total and complete boredom. I’d seen them advertised online – workshops which practiced group “laughter yoga” or Hasyayoga. The bizarre exercise, which is often practiced in open parks, involves gathering in groups and forcing yourself to laugh. After a while, the forced laughter (which goes on for a long time) becomes natural and is supposedly really good for you.
Supposedly the human brain can’t discern the difference between real and fake laughter, and so you can reap the benefits either way. The practice improves your mental health, mood and even cardiovascular system – supposedly.
Apparently laughter yoga helps with pain relief, can boost the immune system, lower blood pressure, stabilizes blood sugar and just generally makes you feel good. It’s also meant to be really good for your abs muscles and can work like an aerobic exercise, allegedly one minute of laughter equates to 10 minutes of jogging, which would burn roughly 97 calories. Not much, but better than nothing.
So theoretically, I should have felt great. It’s just that while being surrounded by a group of people is meant to induce contagious laughter, all it made me feel was awkward. Being one of only three people there who were under twenty-five didn’t help, as the majority of the group was made up of adults ranging from late thirties upwards. The team leader was a peppy young mother, and she was accompanied by an assistant who seemed to have absolutely no shame in completely humiliating herself for the sake of easing us into the various laughter exercises.
We began by clapping our hands while chanting sounds of ‘hee hee ha ha ha ho ho ho’, which in itself was an odd introduction. We’d later punctuate each exercise with this strange chant, as if part of some mysterious ritual to the Gods of laughter. Nonetheless, I wasn’t convinced.
The aforementioned exercises consisted of things like, pretending you messed something up and walking around pointing at yourself laughing, pretending your pockets are empty and you have no money and laughing about it, or pretending to be an animal and, you’ve guessed it, laughing.
This lead to me awkwardly meowing to myself quietly in a corner while complete strangers were walking around me clucking and barking at each other, and just generally embracing their new animal personas. Was it me? Was I completely missing the point? It felt more like an acting workshop than any kind of alternative wellness therapy, and instead of feeling liberated, I felt foolish. I can understand how some people might find it fun and freeing, but it seemed crazy to me.
It elevates mood by releasing feel-good endorphins, and there’s a residual effect long after the laughter. Has some of the same impact as the yoga poses and breathing of traditional yoga, even though it’s not done on a yoga mat. It oxygenates the body, which rejuvenates and energizes. Is a stress reducer, strengthens the immune system, relaxes the body and eases the mind. Improves relationships because it’s a community-building experience. When shared with others, it draws people together. Laughter is contagious. Get contagious to know more about laughter yoga at apexmedtours.com.

Synchronizing with the heart beats!
We all were at the hospital, waiting for the doctors to come out. My aunt and we all were continuously staring at the red bulb on top of the door for the operation theater. Fingers crossed, tensed faces, my dad was walking past the passage. Mom, my two elder brothers, and we kids were sitting in the chairs, constantly looking at the closed door, where the nurse kept coming out and going in.
We are a joint family of 10, and my eldest uncle was detected with a heart weakening muscle, that is cardiomyopathy. He was told to get operated and have a heart transplant. He suffered from a lot of heartburns, and chest pain. He visited the doctor and he told him to operate as soon as possible.
I was way too worried and my curiosity had no bounds. I asked if I could see the surgery but my mom eyed to me and I shut my mouth. I would ask nothing further.
There was a lady surgeon who was free and did not go to the operation theater asked me to come to her clinic. I was excited to get in the room. She asked me to have a seat and she showed me a heart transplant surgery video which she did last week, as she informed she played it on the computer screen.
It was an open heart surgery video. A heart was being delicately handled and replaced with the donor's heart.
I looked at it awestruck, “This needs so much of concentration" I said. "Yeah, we need to take care of it way too much, a single mistake and we have a dead patient" the doctor replied.
"Why does your heart fail? I mean what are the heart problem symptoms?"
"There is usually chest discomfort seen, or chest burn, nausea, indigestion, heartburn, or even a stomach pain. There are a lot of heart diseases and all have different symptoms. Well, every owner of it has its own replacement, major problems lead to a heart transplant."
"Why is a heart transplant done?"
"There are various reasons like your uncle had a weakening of heart muscles, there is coronary artery disease, congenital heart defect, amyloidosis, or even for a failure of a previous heart transplant."
“I was reading the notice board out there, I read ischemic heart disease, what is that all about?"
"Ischemic heart disease is a coronary heart disease, it affects the supply of blood flow to the heart."
I then remembered my uncle was supposed to be out soon, I asked her again," What after this surgery, how do we take care of our uncle? How soon will he recover?"
"After the surgery is completed, he will be taken into an intensive acre unit to recover. He will be kept breathing on the breathing machine for at least six to eight hours while the effects of the anesthesia wear off."
She continued, " After he is discharged, from the hospital, you will be seen in the out-patient clinic twice a week.Do not worry, he will be fine, the surgeon is a specialist in his job."
I smiled, I checked the wall clock it was almost the time. I thanked her for the information she provided. She also asked me to go the check apex med tours website, it will give information about the same in detail.
I left her clinic room and saw the operation light went off. The doctor came out smiling, saying the operation was successful.
