Well, I officially put in my two weeks at my job cause my body is falling apart!!
Gonna be opening illu commissions soon but I wanted to test the waters and see if anybody would be interested in crochet commissions specifically. These would be priced on a case-by-case basis depending on complexity, pattern drafting, # of colors, etc but would likely range from $100-500 depending on scale. (The last image would be closer to $1,000 due to the size and amount of supplies needed) (I could also do mini sizes that would be under $100 as long as the design is simple enough)

Let me know y’all’s thoughts!!

yes!!! one million points to u lol
i've been wanting to do a porcelain pattern tapestry for the longest time but didn't know which one to choose - i eventually landed on willow cause it is so iconic and also i thought it would translate well. it's complicated, but not so much so that the details get lost in the stitches. (well... they still kinda do but WHATEVER it's recognizable at least)
and now that i've finally finished dedicating my life and soul to this agonizing process i can finally start on... yet another porcelain tapestry LMAO

Hello everyone. I have finally finished my crochet tapestry that took 7 months and spanned 1 stressful move, 1 new job, and like 4-5 depressive episodes. So now I’m going to bother everybody about it for like a while.
#i'm drafting a new pattern at the same scale for Spode's pattern Indian Tree#but i kiiinda wanna try a circular tapestry based off a bread plate by A.W. Pugin#and. i don't really have room for another tapestry of this size on my walls sjfgjfskg#ANYWAY enough rambling i just got excited that somebody recognized it ehehe

WELLLL if you insist ehehe
(you are now locked into an unskippable cutscene)

^ THIS is the classic porcelain pattern willow! it was made in the 18th century and every single source I've read talking about its creation lists a different european guy as having first designed it but basically there were a whole lot of porcelain manufacturers with their nose in each others' businesses so it's hard to say when or by whom the pattern actually first came to being
this style of design is known as chinoiserie, which basically means european designs inspired by chinese exports. because china had such wide-reaching and successful exporting of their porcelain wares a looot of other countries were deeply inspired by their designs and wanted to make some of their own to compete. this design specifically became kind of The Standard for chinoiserie designs, and likely if you went to any antique store near you, you'd probably find at least a handful of things in this pattern, lol.
because of how many times this pattern has been replicated there are a lot of different variations in design and color and such, but I based my pattern off of the churchill one in the pic above - I think it retains most of what I think are the most important and iconic parts of the pattern... and they just had the most high quality photos I could use for making the pattern.
trying to translate such a complicated design into basically pixel art to make the pattern was kinda troublesome and i did have to do a loooot of back and forth to decide what elements were important enough to fit in and which were fine to leave out for simplicity's sake. there are typically supposed to be 3 figures on the bridge and one on the boat but considering they were about the size of 2 single crochets i decided i really couldn't get them in without just muddying the composition and making it look confusing.
the damn willow tree was honestly the most agonizing part to draft because it's like THE whole center of the composition but it's such a wiggly organic shape and is also sort of squished between bigger compositional elements... but i think i'm pretty happy with how it ended up!
here's my original pattern :> i made it in clip studio first and then imported it into stitchfiddle to finalize the colors and everything

#my grandma had a very extensive porcelain collection which is what got me into dinnerware in the first place#and thinking back... we didn't have a single piece of willow in the house#which is fair. kind of overhyped as a pattern and honestly in the making of this tapestry i got kinda sick of it#still funny to think about tho. i was living in an anti-willow houses and didnt even know it#putting this under a readmore cause this opst just keeps getting logner and longer skjfgjkdfg#porcelain#crochet

Here it is actually on the wall!! I need to get a dowel for the bottom as well to straighten out those waves (and get rid of those 2 test tassels in the corner….) but I’m so happy with how it looks. It makes all my other tapestries look minuscule in comparison lmao

#idk how noticeable it is but the dowel is like. a little bit bent. and I didn’t notice til I got home from the store#drives me crazy but c’est la vie#crochet#crochetblr#yarnblr

#I got so mad at having to frog a few rows of my previous jaws tapestry that I vowed to pay 100% attention to every stitch in this one#and it kinda worked!! I only frogged like 20 stitches max#don’t ask me where the few mistakes are that I let slip cause I see them every time I look at it and they burn my soul#crochet#crochet tapestry#fiber crafts#fiber art#crochetblr#yarn crafts#craftblr#yarn#yarnblr#yarn art

Ok real promo post cause my roommate roasted me for my lack of information in the other one:
Swimming Upstream Into the Mouth of a Bear:
The world was not built for you. The world does nothing to accommodate you. Think of yourself like an insect evolved to resist pesticide - you grow in spite of, not because of, the narrative of the world. God's mighty hand inks you in the same way he would an extra in a crowd shot. Fuzzy, indistinct, vague.
You are tired of it.
Why not try something new?
Aka: I wrote a misa fic on a whim and wanted to post it teehee
