Well somebody has to say it,,,

You know how people treat their pets? I imagine that's how soft yanderes are~ Like they try desperately not to hurt their darling, but they also don't give them that much autonomy.

Ooh, actually, I have quite a different view, but you do have a point. I suppose, if you really think about it, it's hard to reduce such a complex and broad idea of these unhinged love-sick fools into "hard yanderes" and "soft yanderes". Even soft yanderes have different variations. I'm have tempted to come up with my own and so I will. These are the ideas I have:

Like you've said, anon, there are soft yanderes who view their darlings as little pets they want to keep and cajole and revere. They don't want to hurt you and are appalled at the idea of you getting hurt by their hands or anyone else's, just like how you'd never want your pet to get hurt, but also, like regular people with pets, pets regularly don't have much autonomy. We decide when they eat, what they eat, how much they eat. When they're sick and don't want to take their medicine, we force them to take it, even if we have to hold them down and shove the syringe with liquid medicine between their teeth and force it down their throat. It's the same with that type of soft yandere. They're absolutely all for you. They want to spoil and serenade you with toys, comfortability, food, etc, but if they have to step in, so be it. Pets do need some discipline.

Then there are soft yanderes who understand how terrifying the situation you are in (i.e. your kidnapping) is but still won't do anything about it. They try to give you as much autonomy as you want, giving you the freedom to do whatever you want in the very comfortable room you're confined in. They don't want to make you feel miserable and are more inclined to let you have a whole house to yourself, rather than a room, but if you force their hand (and their patience is quite incredible, really), they will have to regrettably confine you into a room not so comfortable for you to understand just how good you have it. They try to make the best of the sucky situation you're in— but you're not getting out of it either. Beg all you want, all they'll feel is sympathy, not regret.

Soft yanderes who don't actively try to kidnap you, but are a little forward with their advances because they want you to know that they like you but don't want to scare you off— though, they are more than willing to scare off others if need be.

Well, that's all I have for now, but I will certainly add in more should they come to mind! :)
