I’ve made this collection of five books about one of my photographer’s of reference Robert Mapplethorpe.
This books are modern and trash at the same time, they smell like old cigarette and sound like rock.
Each book: Flowers, Nudes, Patti Smith, Celebrities and Self-portraits; explores deeply those five sections that are very recurrent on Mapplethorpe's work.
The jacket of each book is a poster that you can unwrap and hang or that you can keep on the book as a protection. Every poster has it’s black side which is painted by hand. And the cover is handmade too.
On the inside of the books you can find some inserts with quotes from the « Just Kids » book wrote by Patti Smith.
