The Inheritance Games by @authorjenlynnbarnes has been sitting on my shelf for about a year and I am finally getting around to reading it.
I'm only 17 pages in, but man, are those chapters short and is this story going. I most likely won't finish it today (big sad), but hopefully it'll be a quick read for me and get me out of this slump I'm in.

💀Lies in Bone by @nataliesymons💀
I don't know about you, but sometimes it's hard to get into reading when you do so much of it. And then you get into a book slump.
I've been in one the past week or so. It's hard to get into new books sometimes. But Natalie Symons' book Lies in Bone is kind of getting through that slump.
I haven't finished it yet, but so far, I'm really enjoying it! I can't wait to see what scenarios Frank finds herself in, especially in the maybe "haunted" town of Slippery Elm. It has a history. A dark one. And it's just about to unfold.
If you like mystery/thriller, I would recommend this one. Make sure you check the trigger warnings, though.

📝Author Appreciation Post📝
Today was by far one of my favorite days. As some of you know, I am a bookseller at Barnes & Noble and I absolutely love the job. Getting to talk to people about books is one of my favorite things.
I read A Kingdom of Flame and Fury by @authorwhitneydean a few weeks ago (and am still processing 😂). But when I say I loved this book, I loved this book. Little did I know she would be doing a book signing at my store. I flipped out when I heard this news. If you were to ask my co-workers, they would agree. It was a lot 😂
And today, after a few weeks of anticipation, I had the honor of meeting Whitney and all I have to say is my heart is happy. She is one of the kindest people ever and so down to earth. Thank you for taking the time to talk to me and say hi. It really made my day.
If you're looking for a good New Adult Fantasy book, check this one out. It 👏🏻 is 👏🏻 so 👏🏻 good.
I cannot wait to read the second book (which is set to be published in December) and I'm so happy to have a physical copy. This will be well-loved.

🌼 Daisy Darker by @alicewriterland 🌼
I'm not a huge mystery/thriller reader. But when my aunt said she loved this book and I had an opportunity to do a buddy read, I said yes.
And I'm so glad I did. Because this book was so good.
There were so many twists (especially the one at the end, which totally got me and if you've read this, you know what I mean 👀).
So, I'm hooked. I bought another Alice Feeney book today and I'll read it soon, cause it's about to be spooky season and I need a good mystery/thriller.
If you love Alice Feeney, read this. If you haven't read any of her works yet, PLEASE READ THIS.

They Both Die at the End by @adamsilvera.
I have seen this book everywhere. And, as a bookseller, I take into account what books are popular and what aren't. And this one is definitely popular.
Last week at work, I received an ARC for The First to Die at the End. I already had They Both Die at the End on my kindle and on my bookshelf (I forgot I bought the kindle edition), so I thought it was about time to read it. And I'm already getting emotional.
So many people have said this book will make you cry. I guess we'll see if it does. But I'm thinking it might.

Mia Sheridan tore out my heart, threw it on the ground, yelled "SIKE," and handed it back to me.
This isn't a book I would typically pick up, but I read it for my book club. And I'm so glad I did.
It was just such a beautiful story between two characters, Bree and Archer, who are both working through their own struggles and trauma. And their love story was just so flipping pure.
I mean, it made me cry. I have never cried so hard because of a book. Like, you know those memes where a reader reads a book that destroys them and they cry and then turn around and say, "here, read this"? I did that. That meme is me. I am that meme.
This book still loves in my head rent free. And I'm not okay 😂

This is a popular book. One that I wasn't sure I was ever going to read. But as a bookseller, I thought why not read it and see what the hype is all about.
But, guys, I did not expect this book to be so heavy. Please check the trigger warnings before picking it up.
While it was heavy, I enjoyed it. Do I think it's overhyped? Maybe a little. But do I see why it's a popular read? Yes. Because the characters are so realistic and the scenarios are SO REALISTIC. I finished this book two days ago and I still find myself thinking about it. It's one of those books that really sticks with you.
I had originally given this book a 3.75. But because I've had some time to digest it, I'm going to rate it ⭐⭐⭐⭐.
This book is not for the faint of heart. If you feel like you can't read a book about domestic abuse in any way PLEASE DON'T READ IT. But if you feel like you can, I'd have to recommend it. Which, honestly, comes as a shocker for me 😂. But, seriously, kudos to you, Colleen Hoover, for putting such an incredible and personal story on paper and publishing it. That takes a whole lot of courage.

If you're looking for a good book to get you out of a book slump, this one is it.
I had been in a slump for two weeks. And I knew I had an upcoming buddy read for this book. But I just couldn't do it. Then one day I picked it up, loved the prologue, then the first chapter, and the next day, I was done.
This book was so good. It follows Hannah Bellinger, sister of Piper Bellinger from It Happened One Summer, and her relationship with Fox Thornton.
When I say it's a good book, it is. I even loved it more than It Happened One Summer and that got five stars.
My rating for this one: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
It was so good, it gets the special stars. Because it's special. I love friends-to-lovers, but this one was on a whole different level. We're talking that trope and add a redemption story. So. Good.

A murder of crows, a dog as a mayor, zoom-zoom juice, and a ghostwriter who can see and talk to ghosts. What's not to love?
This book ❤.
I can't even express in words how much I love this book. It's so good. And so cute. And very funny.
Florence Day is a ghostwriter for romance author Ann Nichols. And she believes love is dead. All because of her stupid and incredibly rude ex, Lee Marlow.
When she goes to see her new editor, Benji Andor, she asks for an extension. And he says no.
Then the unthinkable happens: her dad passes, leaving her no other choice but to fly home for the funeral. And on the doorstep of her family's funeral home later that night is none other than Ben Andor. Or rather, his ghost.
This book has humor, heartbreak, and so many indightful lessons on love and life. And it made me cry, which doesn't happen often.
You should read this book.
I also now have unrealistic expectations because I think Ben Andor stole my heart. Thanks, Ashley Poston 😂🥲

🌵 Places We've Never Been 🌵
I have read almost every @kasiewest books except for a few, which I plan to read. She is by far one of my favorite authors and is bascislly an auto-buy author for me.
When I saw this book in stock at work, I HAD to grab it. I have been (kind of) patiently waiting for this book since it was first announced. And now I can finally read it!
I'm already one chapter in and I'm so in love with the vibe. I can tell this will be another great book that I will easily be able to read in a day or two. Usually, I'd say "I don't meet the height requirements to ride your emotional roller coaster," but when it comes to Kasie West...bring on the roller coaster! (I know, that was cheesy, but I saw an opportunity and had to snatch it.)

💀Kingdom of the Cursed💀
So, I read Kingdom of the Wicked by @kerrimaniscalco and I gave it a 3/5 stars. And then I picked up this book, hoping Emilia's character and the plot would get better...
And she delivered. (Slide for rating.)
I basically read this book in two days. I was hooked. Emilia definitely grew as a character. She really embraced her anger towards her sister's death and really stepped into her role as a schemer. And Wrath, he was just great. The two were charming and funny and my heart melted a few times because Wrath, the Prince of War, has a heart.
Their characters were really brought to life in this book. The plot was easy to understand and captivating. It was fun to watch the pieces fit together.
And the twists! Guys, I was in the last quarter of the book and there was twist after twist after twist and I 👏🏻 was 👏🏻 here 👏🏻 for 👏🏻 it. Emilia reminded me of Jude Duarte from The Cruel Prince in the second half of the book and I love that series. This book was just so good. I loved it so much. And I can't wait for the third book to come out in September.
If you haven't read this book yet, do it. I promise, it is totally worth the read. Kingdom of the Wicked may have been a bit iffy for me, but so many things are revealed in this book that make up for it.
