Castiel and Crowley could develop an epic friendship.
I was thinking about Babylon 5 the other day (my other obsession) and the strange progression of G'kar and Londo Molari. There was a friendship for the ages, although you never would have thought so in the first 2 or 3 seasons. They went from casual enemies to deadly-serious enemies to reluctant collaborators and finally, worked their way to a lasting friendship.
I I think the writers have the potential here to work the same thing with Castiel and Crowley's relationship. They were enemies in general through their very natures, then they worked together for a seemingly common cause, then the working relationship fell apart. Now Cas is human, and Crowley is mostly human. The character's moral grey areas and their current circumstances (and their incidental affiliations with the brothers-Sam trying to redeem Crowley and Dean trying to keep Cas from doing the wrong things for the right reasons) are ripe for a possible burgeoning friendship. All we need is some circumstance in which both of them are threatened so they have to work together, maybe a few moments of personal sharing (Cas musing on being human, Crowley musing on what it was like to be human), and to wholeheartedly join in with the Winchester cause. By the end of the show, they could both be sitting around in the MoL bunker having a whiskey and a cigar.
Thus it would still maintain that Good Omens vibe.
That ending would rock.

Bad thought...he's still just using Cas...he's only happy to see him because he's a self-serving douche sometimes...sorry, jus' sayin'. The demons creep in sometimes. :(

SPN Ep Out With The Old-late night thought
“Out With The Old” airing March 16th, 2012
DOUBLE TROUBLE — After a ballerina is found dead from dancing herself to death, Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) look into the case and discover the ballet slippers she wore were cursed. When Dean accidentally touches the shoes the power of the curse starts to take hold of him. John Showalter directed the episode written by Robert Singer & Jenny Klein.
Could this be the Dean-gets-cursed-with-dance-fever episode i've always wanted? Supernatural: the Musical is almost a reality!

GISHWHES Registrants map woes
I registered from Washington (where I live now), and paid for it with my CC which is still registered in Hawaii (where I just left). There is no dot on the map from either place tho...where am I?
Imagine that your job on the GISHWHES campaign is to plot all the registrants on the map. Hehehe.

Yes, and I'm scared. I've never done one of these before. What if I'm stupid?
Does anyone else feel like when GISHWHES open all the members are going to be abducted by Misha and taken to another planet

"Bright naked moon" musings.
"My Lovelies, under the bright naked moon, the door shall be opened for all in 23 days...shall you pass?" So said @MissJeanLouis on October 12.
I googled the heck out of this phrase yesterday. I'm quite a few days behind the power curve, I know; but it's such an interesting turn of phrase that I couldn't just chalk it up to originality (sorry Miss Jean!). I looked it up and found an essay about a form of Chinese literary criticism that made me smile. The critique is a response to Wordsworth’s The Prelude; a poem that Wordsworth worked on throughout his lifetime but never published.
I saw three climbers (myself among them) winding up the mountain in silence ‘at the dead of night’, absorbed in their ‘private thoughts’. The sky was full of blocks of clouds of different colors, freely changing their shapes, like oily pigments disturbed in a bucket of water. All of a sudden, the moonlight broke the darkness ‘like a flash’, lighting up the mountain tops. Under the ‘naked moon’, the band saw a vast sea of mist and vapor, a silent ocean. Then the silence was abruptly broken, and we heard the ‘roaring of waters, torrents, streams/Innumerable, roaring with one voice’ from a ‘blue chasm’, a fracture in the vapor of the sea. It was a joyful revelation of divine truth to the human mind: the bright, ‘naked’ moon sheds the light of ‘higher reasons’ and ‘spiritual love’ upon us; the vast ocean of mist looked like a thin curtain through which we vaguely saw the infinity of nature beyond; and the sounds of roaring waters coming out of the chasm of vapor cast us into the boundless spring of imagination from the depth of the human heart. Evoked by the divine light from above, the human spring of imagination is joined by the natural spring and becomes a sustaining source of energy, feeding ‘upon infinity’ while transcending infinity at the same time (Shen 1989).
I particularly like the last sentence, and it may be that this is the sort of inspiration the Creators are hoping to foster. GISHWHES will be great, and not just a curiosity if it can truly inspire us as participants to reach this boundless spring, and carry its energy with us throughout our daily lives.
Well, I'm inspired!

No matter what we think of our efforts, we are still awesome.
I've seen some of the websites that have been built for GISHWHES, and they all make me jealous. They are so good! It doesn't matter what site builder they used, or if they built them from scratch. There are so many different expressions of just what GISHWHES is to all of us! So many different ways to explain our bewildered, helpless enthusiasm to the world.
I don't know about the others out there, but I got my assignment the day after it was given. It took me by surprise. I know nothing about building websites, and how the hell do you explain something without calling it what it is? What an interesting and nerve-wracking challenge.
I found the most interesting template I could find, then attempted to put my stamp on it. In the 1 hour I had to myself in my days between packing my household goods, cleaning my house, wrangling my 2-yr old, working and trying to pay attention to my husband I made a site. Rusty creative gears started clanking. It felt so good to make something! Now that it's done and that portion of GISHWHES is over, I dread the next assignment, but I look forward to it too. Never mind the tickling feeling that someone is just using us to do his dirty admin work.
I'm not completely happy with my effort, and from what I've seen in the blogs about submissions, many people feel the same way. But no matter how great my efforts are, something in me will sometimes look at someone else's art and say not "wow, that's great!", but "wow, I suck". What crap. Our art is good, and our creations are worthwhile, whether they are deemed so by others or not.  GISHWHES has reminded me to respect myself.
For those other gishwhesean slaves who might feel the same, I drink to us all. Drink with me, in spirit anyway, if it's not practical for you to chug single-malt scotch just now.  Let's toast to our art, to life, and to wearing our hearts on our sleeves. Cheers!
