That late night urge to hurt your OCs in daydreams before you drift into real dreams…

And the results are in! The large majority of people identify with their whumpee. Certainly makes me feel more normal for identifying with mine 😅
Thanks for voting, folks!
My OC is a fictionalised "me". Is this normal?
I'm writing a story about myself and someone else I know from real life. We are the two whumpees in this fiction, friends who are held captive and hurt by three unknown whumpers. There's a successful escape and hospital recovery time, though I'm unsure on the end just now - does this bring them closer together, do they part ways, how does it affect their loved ones (one was in a relationship), etc?
All the storylines are fictional, but I have a lot to play with, as these two are based on real people with real history, backgrounds, relationships, wants/needs, and more.
Guess my question is: Is it normal to base your OCs on yourself (and/or other real life people)? It makes it easier in some ways, as I know the characters well, but harder in others (I don't actually want to hurt this person or their loved ones, so writing about it can be challenging (which is, I think, why I've made them more "forced to watch" and be a carewhumpee than actually be whumped)).
So, to the poll:

Mutual suffering
Two whumpees who were close in their normal lives. They are abducted and tortured for no particular reason, just sadistic pleasure.
But, while they're in the same basement being hurt by the same people, they have different experiences. Person A is a full-on whumpee, receiving most of the abuse for the two of them. Person B is more of a carewhumpee: forced to watch and deal with the aftermath.
A practically begged to be hurt for them both, to spare their friend, but that doesn't stop B from suffering. It's exhausting and horrible for each of them, but in different ways.
*
This is the premise for my WIP. It started in a series of daydreams and expanded from there, following A and B from abduction to escape to recovery. Excited to keep writing. Hope you enjoy!

Yes! This seems to be eerily about my WIP… 😅
Trying to create the right conditions in your story for romantic tension to bloom between the characters?
Put them in a horrific life threatening situation together.

Hi, I'm Anoushka!
New to Tumblr, but not to whump. I've been enjoying watching and writing about suffering characters for as long as I can remember, and recently got back into the storytelling side by writing out some gorgeous (read: ouchie for my OCs), interconnected daydreams.
This story is about two friends who are kidnapped by a trio of whumpers, and all that they endure, as well as all the secrets that start to come out. It's pretty dark, but hey, we like it like that, don't we? 😉
