Also viewing art as a form of prayer or worship, it is arguably heretical to pawn it off to AI. Mostly for all the reasons above, but point of connecting with God is it is about exploring your individual journey with faith and I'm sorry but how tf can you do that with an AI that collects (steals) from thousands of others??? That's not putting yourself authentically before the Lord.

Christian posts and that sort of thing that have AI generated images or text. Like dude are you aware how wrong it is to be using generative ai as a Christian? We believe that we as humans are created in God’s image. Not only that but we believe that we have the Holy Spirit dwelling within us. This means that we have a bit of the creator in us, which is why we’re able to make art and be creative. No other creature can really do that, no other creature has the imagination that we do. But we’re not perfect creators like God is. Only He can make stuff out of nothing, we can’t. Only He can make beings also capable of creation, even though ours is limited for our own good (i.e. we can’t create buildings and nonsense out of thin air). This means that we cannot create anything that is in itself capable of creation. We can make machines that generate certain outputs that sure look like creation, but there’s no soul to it and no thought or imagination because it is not a being endowed with creative purpose. It’s a computer program. Using generative AI doesn’t make any sense from a Christian perspective. It feels prideful to assume that we can create creators.

Not to mention all the water and electricity being guzzled by these things and the carbon footprint they have. An AI data center is actually being built near where I live, on a river with an already critically low water table. And we’re not even in a particularly dry area, so imagine how this affects people in dry areas where water is already a scarcity. I don’t think it’s very loving your neighbor of you to take their water for a graphic.

If you want a graphic, hire an artist. Draw it yourself. Heck, click and drag a png of Jesus onto a picture of the sunset. Take a picture of something cool you saw outside that reminded you of God. Just please don’t take away people’s resources just to get a picture of Jesus. I’ll bet all those renaissance painters feel pretty miffed that you’re choosing a soulless machine’s work over their paintings that took days and weeks to make beautiful. I know I would.

Question as a baby Quaker and neurodivergent.

My brain goes on holiday sometimes in meeting and, to be blunt, I get bored? I still want to be there ofc. I know religious guilt is something that we don't practice but it's really hard when you were raised with that toxic mindset.

My question is: what are some good ways to start breaking down ableist standards of what faith is/isn't? A big question ikik but have any of you dealt with this? As well as just any advice in general is welcome please.

the one thing i will let myself be obnoxiously european about is travel distances. "british people think a 2 hour drive is too long" yes ☝️ thats me i do think that. being stuck in a car is torture. i want everything important to be within walking distance of my house. the fact a lot of usamericans live multiple miles from the nearest store is terrifying to me. how do you live like that............. how do you cope...............
