May I offer you a possibly official British-accented 2010 Little Prince? (audio on)

So, I went down a bit of a rabbit hole today on DQ entertainment, who worked on the animation of The Little Prince (2010) and apparently like three different shows from my childhood???

Anyways, interestingly on their animation showreel linked below, they used a clip from the second episode, the Planet of Time [Part 2]. Only, uh, LP sounds a little different from his official english canadian dub.

It's just really funny to me when I first saw the showreel. I was fully expecting a canadian/american accent and the slightly lower voice, and was instead hit with the voice of this small jolly british child. kinda lovin it ngl but i was taken so off-guard the first time, it made me laugh and replay it like 3 times.

Long ramble about dubs regarding the 2010 show under the cut, oops!

I do wonder if this might point to the existence of a british dubbed version of the show that became lost media or got buried under the popularity of the canadian dub in english speaking countries. Some cartoons, especially those aimed for kids like paw patrol, will change the dubs so that kids don't get confused by accents or slang only known in america.

Speaking of dubs, kinda random but there's a ton of dubs for this show, and there's a lot that was lost. For example, I had no idea there was a chinese dub of the show until I found a link to it reddit (you can also find a ton of episodes for it over on bilibili too btw). Similarly, there's also an arabic dub, a korean dub (obligatory namu wiki link because of the backhanded slander against the english and french dub someone chose to throw in lol), and waaaay more.

Side note but it's really funny finding the youtube vids of different dubs like the spanish dub or the korean dub, translate the webpage, and seeing at least one or two people in the comment section under a popular episode mention about having a crush on the prince when they were a kid. Either that, or about the snake's voice.

This fandom page shows a list proving the existence of the various dubs of the 2010 series, and this other fandom page shows some of the lost dubs, but I suspect that it's not the full thing, and that it also hasn't been updated for a bit.

I refuse to make a fandom account out of spite for all the times it crashed my shitty computer with ads, but if anyone else already has an account and is willing to update it, that'd be awesome!

Going back to the original point of this post, though (WOW that was a weird surface level detour in dubs I just took, sorry lol), the whole explanation could just be that DQ Entertainment don't have the rights to use the english dub (? I know nothing about licensing, so lmk if I'm wrong about this or if there's a better theory) so they just dragged someone over to do the voice for that one clip and there is no british dub lol.

I just saw that template and I liked it a lot. I like alignment charts, they're fun :) ---

It's just kinda funny to me how Rose, upon receiving the letter and finding the petals is just kinda like "do I really want to know what exactly happened that made you (whether on purpose or by accident) leave the petals of another rose in here?" Girlie was so suspicious for a hot second and honestly that is so understandable. This is the link to both scenes, this one being Rose finding the petals, and this one being when LP sees that rose tree. ---

JKDHFKS THAT ONE TEMPLATE IS SO FUNNY TO ME AS WELL. Here's a link to that scene I'm referencing. I honestly loved the parts where Rose and Fox were interacting more than what LP was doing during The New Mission arc. I kinda wish they had a few more interactions, and that they do succeed in working together at one point. ---

Basically what it says on the tin: It's just a nutshell summary of what happened in the Planet of the Roses arc, from Snake's perspective. Honestly, I don't have much to say here, so here's a link from the last episode, when Snake realizes that he done fucked it up and Rose might genuinely get hurt. I actually find this arc super interesting, so maybe if I take off my clown shoes one day, I'll get to work on dissecting moments that I just love from this episode. ---

While this isn't exactly what LP says to Okoda, I just like the lobster meme too much to pass up the chance to use it. Here's a link to the scene here, it's a lot more mellower, and is actually about a shield instead of the asteroid, but again: I just really like that template gdfgfgd. ---

Granted, "Louis" actually does a pretty good job of acting like a regular kid. It's either that, or LP is just so weird (affectionate) having another kid that doesn't act too much like a kid looks totally normal in comparison. I just think it's kinda funny how this being older than the universe itself just casually disguised himself as a random 10 year old and actually got the disguise to hold up for a few hours. ---

Here's a link to one scene, although I strongly recommend you to watch the full episode for better context. I actually really like this arc, I thought Rosetta and Manuel were really cute together, and when Marika and Hannibal made up. I would have not objected to a spin-off series ngl, and I was happy when we saw them again in the planet of the astrotrainics in season 3. Also: The cute little "choo-choo" song the students on the train sing is actually so adorable imo. ---

Also, I'm a sucker for the "We are total opposites, and if left alone we would have never met, nevermind become friends, but because of this one person we care deeply about, we gotta work together" trope. I have no idea what this is called, but IIRC the Pendragon book series did this, and so did this show, so. hmu if you know what this trope is called over on TVTropes i guess. ---

Oh you just know Fox and Rose would have been doing the coffin dance with Snake's corpse if they could. It's so funny because Fox is all like "Well, no loss there, it's not like he was a nice guy anyways!" and Rose is just like "Good! Now he can never come between me and LP again!" and this is what they say in front of LP. You know they were celebrating in their heads but didn't say a word because of LP's conflicted feelings on the fact that he just accidentally committed involuntary manslaughter. (snake-slaughter?)

AHH! Okay so apparently the little prince has roses and stars on his sleeves???? Which is such a cool detail!

And here's another picture!

And it's so cute! I never noticed it until now, I think it's because the colours are so faint, and it's a fairly smallish detail. it sorta blends into his shirt a lot of the time, or just looks like a stain if the gold version isn't added.

And tbh, even when the gold is added, I usually can't see the detail properly. I always wondered what that splotch of gold is on his sleeves in the intro, lol.

I think I would have drawn a more simplified, bigger design and traced it out in the same gold / yellow accent colours of his scarf. I like the green sketch of it better than when it's a 3D chunk, but I also like that it's gold in order to have it pop better.

However I am also crap at drawing and colour theory, so idk if that's a good idea lol

The Little Prince (2010) as (outdated) vines:

Hey so I binged watched the entire The Little Prince 2010 series, and. I just had to make one of these videos.

So, uh, here! TLP 2010 as badly outdated vines! Obvious spoiler warnings for the show, haha, and don't forget to unmute.

(Also: Entirely off-topic, but man this show took extremely heavy liberties with the original book lol. This isn't even an adaptation dawg it's just its own show with the copyright of TLP slapped on it. And tbh I kinda love it.)

Note: S1 / S2 / S3 means season 1, 2, or 3.

Anyways, I put the context under the cut, so if you forgot / want to read it, it's there!

First clip, (Asteroid B 612 after season 2):

The little prince's plane gets destroyed in the first few episodes of S3, and so in order to go after the snake, he just brings the whole asteroid with him, driven by origami animals.

It does lead to some neat moments, where Rose is able to help in real time, so I did like that aspect of it a lot.

Second clip, ("Why are you running?"):

Honestly I made that one at like 3 am and I just thought it was the funniest concept known to mankind. Rose dislikes the Snake for, y'know, destroying planets and stuff.

Third clip, ("Who are you?"):

One of the last few arcs of Season 2, the Little Prince and Kimi (one of the side characters) get hit with a memory wiping machine, and they just straight up forgot everything in their past, and even their own names.

Fourth clip, (Singing):

The fox mentions that the LP sings off-key, the most memorable one being in the Planet of Music, and we even get to hear a bit of aforementioned singing in Planet of Ashkabaar.

Fifth clip, ("Good evening."):

The Snake goes around to people and basically convinces them to do what they think is right, but actually isn't. This, too, was made way too late at night lol

Sixth clip ("A potato flew around my room..."):

In the last arc, the fox and blue gloomy (Blue bubbly? bubbly???) get stuck at a house on planet, and are separated from the Little Prince, Rose, and a real friendly guy named Louis! The Little Prince manages to get the Businessman and the King to help them.

Blue gloomy finds something freaky in the house, and when Fox opens the cabinet, they finds out that there were tons of gloomies in the house, most of them hiding in aforementioned cabinet.

Seventh clip (Lady dancing to music):

The Snake was temporarily captured inside Little Prince's sketchpad in the season 2 finale. But, in Season 3, he gets out in the first few episodes.

What's nice though, is that we get to see LP, Rose, and Fox hang out and play games and stuff. That, and Rose and Fox argue a ton. But hey, at least they don't have to worry about Snake destroying planets at the moment!

Eighth clip (Starting a kickstarter)

Honestly, I just think it's funny how the snake, in the first two seasons, kept trying to offer the Little Prince a way out of a tough situation in exchange for LP to quit saving planets.

But after getting locked up in the sketchpad in season two/three, he was more than happy to let LP die of heat stroke or something. I'd like to imagine that he has a bit of a grudge against LP for the whole sketchpad thingie.

Ninth clip (Look up in the sky):

Yeah I have no explanations for that I just love that meme tbh so blame caffeinated me for that one lol.

Tenth clip (chicken):

There was a chicken that kept following Fox around in the Planet of the Giants and Planet of the Great Comet, and basically everyone was like "yeah dude that chicken is definitely in love w/ you." The feeling is not mutual.

There's also this awesome fanfic that expands a little more on this that I think all of you should read. Love love love that author's work for TLP stuff.

Eleventh clip ("Never gonna sleep cause of y'all- "):

The snake was the first being in the universe, and liked how calm and quiet it all was. Then other planets and beings started poofing into existence, and the snake hated the loud sounds and lights and everything. It wasn't quiet anymore.

His solution? M U R D E R.

Twelfth clip ("When life gives you lemons."):

Pretty sure it was just the crappiest day of the little prince's life.

Here's a list of some of the stuff that happened to him during the episode:

Rose got kidnapped, TLP lost his plane, passed out from heatstroke, realized he could never truly defeat the snake, had to find the real Rose in a maze filled with fake ones, saw Rose (almost?) die, etc.

I can see why he just wanted to take up painting between S2 and S3 haha.
