The idea of Ripper holding his and Sweetjane’s child was rattling around in my brain for so long, I needed to get it down. All those fears he had just melting away upon being able to hold baby Jean… he knew in that moment things were always going to be different.

AU lore stuff under the cut:

In this AU I share with @romaniwasteland , Sweetjane has a genetic mutation that allows her to become pregnant with an infertile ghoul’s child. Ripper took the precautions he needed to take that allowed him to be infertile rather than sterile (ties in with his story).

I like to believe that whoever did the “research” on ghoul fertility only did their research on one male and one female ghouls. Infertility versus sterility among ghouls is extremely rare and it’s not really known what a person turning has to do to only be infertile rather than sterile. Infertility and sterility are not the same thing (this is an actual fact, people who are infertile can still get pregnant, it’s just extremely hard for them to whereas sterile people cannot get pregnant at all no matter what they try). Most wastelanders are unwilling to do further research on ghouls because they’re “just mutants who don’t deserve to continue lineage.”

This is a plot point that I am keeping exclusive to my own personal storylines, as well as with shared AUs with friends.

How do you even draw a ghoul ☠️

It’s been 32 trips around the sun for me today, and yet I feel like I’ve traveled almost twice that around the world. I’m on a tiny island that nobody knows in the middle of the ocean (and when I say tiny, I mean you throw a rock from one end and it goes off the other), thousands of miles from home (again) but there’s little skittering crabs and it’s hot and humid and the ocean is warm with the salt in my face. There’s no cell service (as I type this from the crappy wifi in my room) and I’ll have to leave just as soon as I’ve arrived. I’ve had one birthday beer, a tiny slice of cake (that someone brought from the galley lol) and my decaf coffee from the extremely temperamental percolator. Life is good.
