Week 12-14 (extension)
Shoot + Post Production + Deliverables
My Final Shoot Setup:
Based on my shoot plan from week 11
Post Production Editing
I adjusted the lighting using curves, saturation, vibrance, shadows, highlights etc. then went about removing the LED lights from the edges of the image as well as the horizon line, to do this i used the patch and heading tool, as well as the content-aware tool then smoothed out the subtle blue light effect on the background using the smudge tool. I used the dodge too to highlight parts of the cocktail drink more so i didnt have to effect the image as a whole. I then found online mockups for magazine and instagram to put the images into. I had learned alot more skills this year during my external learning placement for design research. so I have applied alot of thse skills to this assessment today and after watching a couple youtube videos.
Proof Sheet from final shoot
Final Skills Matrix
I found that I had improved quite well especially in conducting more shoots and gaining more knowledge over the years. I think being sick for 4+ weeks made my time management very challenging, impacting other aspects of my work such as my ability to go out and shoot, my experimental process and the amount of research I was able to conduct. The session with Cornelius helped to significantly improve my in-studio skills and technical understanding. I have used photoshop a lot more this year improving my knowledge in post-production and manipulation.

Thomas Rohde
Rohde is a still life photographer whos is. based in London and founder so So Studio Productions. As you can see from some of his works below, he explores similar creative concepts to what i would like to achieve through this course, top right pink image is similar to one I have planned in my moodbard for my shot list. His shots are very clean yet intriguing there is a mix of portraiture and product as well as some videographic work with product focus.

Alex Perri Photographer & Youtuber
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E_2ooySq7hA
This youtube tutorial on how to get moody lighting for product photography was significantly helpful in my aim for a classic, moody yet elegant outcome. I made a list of some of the equiptment I was missin got go out and purchase when I could. this included the black backdrop and 4x portable colour changing LED Lights, some cocktail glasses and the Gin ofcourse.
Nick Dunne
Product and Creative concept photographer from London, his works reflect and emmulate everything i have been researching and moodboarding from the start of semester. His work is very clean, minimlaist yet colourful, vibrant and mysterious in some cases. His work is a good reflection of where i would like to be at with my skill level in the future and some of the work i would like to be doing.

Week 8
This week I went to do a photo shoot at the beach, It was warm and sunny to start but had been raining earlier, and this foiled my plans as I wanted to use the sand as my main area for product placement. but it was all wet and clumpy. The beach was also extremely busy so I had to wait a long time between shots for when there would be an empty spot to shoot. The angle of the sun also wasn't right as I was on an east coast beach which meant that i was getting silhouettes and backlighting on my images which was not the aim - as a result, I should have planned a bit more thoroughly and go on a quieter day with better weather but is a bit challenging heading into winter.
For my next shoot I will aim to conduct in a more controlled environment like a studio set up at home or at university. This will help me to avoid any weather dependency issues that may conflict with my photography

Week 7
This week I did more inspiration and mood-boarding planning for my next shoot and where I want to go from here. At this stage I am a bit conflicted If i want to continue down the mix of portraiture and product photography or just move on the product as I would like to get a few different varieties of photography under my belt for my professional portfolio.
Plan for next shoot: Slightly adapted to be more focused on drink product photography than using a model and exploring natural lighting and settings rather than instudio with a heavier emphasis on post-production and manipulating images into one final outcome. This one focuses on prodycing multiple product photos for different brands for the wholesaler Premium Liquor co with a summer tropical vibe this is heavily inspired by photographer Jessica Pettway (refer to my formative assessment submission)

Week 6!
I was in studio i had books a time with Cornelius and had taken my model in for a shoot, we planned three colour themes using non alcoholic drinks focusing on composition, lighting and how the model interacted with the product. This shoot went very well and i was happy with my photos but took alot longer than expected. I also had troubles transferring my photos after the shoot and ended up waiting over an hour for them to copy over! I will need to take this into account the next time i plan on using the photography studio to shoot and bring a better hard drive with me in the hopes that will also speed up the process, i was lucky enough that no one else had booked the studio for the day. My plan of action next is to go through and select a few to edit and finalise. Then continue on with planning my next shoot.

Week 4
I have been adding on to my pinterest mood board i have for the directed image course, initially i was purely looking into fashion editorial portraits and i found i had more interests and avenues i wanted to explore, mainly down the product advertising for commercial editorial media and print. I thought this would be a good opportunity to try something new as i have already experimented with portrait photography, something i want to include on some level in this project but not as my main focus. One common theme amoung them all is colour story, i like my neutrals but i also like my vibrant colours

Week 4
We went out in groups and tackled some of the issues we were having with our diagnostic tests, most of us focused on the centre-weighed, spot and matrix auto-focusing task and then followed through with depth of field.
When explained in class and watching an online tutorial I understood how it worked but I struggled to execute the idea with my own camera. I noticed my camera aperture would not go as low as some other cameras which tended to help bring about the concept much better. More research to be done.

Week 3
This week was focused on seeing where we are at with our technical knowledge and I indeed need alot more technical knowledge and practice, i was mainly struggling with what centre weighted, spot and matrix auto focusig was and how ti worked, i also struggled with scenario questions without physically using my camera I wasn’t sure off the top of my head what they might be, something to research and practice.

Week 2 SDL
I did some model research on model poses and came across actor Willem Dafoe and his unique posing style for many of his older photographs. We tried imitating some of his poses and styles.
