YO why havent you been on? not to sound judgey or anything im just hoping you're ok!

( oh! thanks for worrying, i’m all right! this blog got too popular   too fast and i freaked out and abandoned ship, but i’ll be back   once i get some more free time, hopefully!!! for now i’m just   sticking to my main rp blog ( @mortiiest ) and my frisk rp sideblog   which i’ll give people the url of if they IM me. i’m keepin that one   semi private because the undertale fandom scares th heck outta   me haha… )

“Ohhh, yeah! I guess that makes sense! I guess it’d be kind of weird to call    someone just by a body part. People might get confused that way!” People    as in themselves in all likeliness, but they left that part out. “By the way,    you’re really big! I think you’re even bigger than when I fuse with the rest    of my squad!”

Now that the other had said it Sardonyx remembered hearing Steven say it and the ruby even knew why they were nicknamed that. That was cute. “Maybe, but also I think Steven might’ve just preferred Leggy to Leg.”

They stared at the various pieces of equipment that decorated the    ship, not sure whether to be impressed or intimidated. Not only    was this ship much larger than the one their squad had, but this    tech was, well... They hadn’t seen anything like it before. Not that    should be much of a surprise, considering what a short time they    had on Homeworld before they’d been shipped out, but still. 

Ruby nervously approached the owner of the ship, tugging lightly on    her skirt to get her attention.

“Wh-What does all of this stuff do?”

“Oh, wow! Can we go right now? I didn’t know Earth had things that were so...    Um... Good to put in your mouth.” They were looking for the words tasty or    yummy, but the fact was that they’d never actually eaten anything before,    and didn’t quite know how to express such a thing.

“I told ya. Ya know if ya want I can take ya to the boardwalk. They got a bunch of food there.”

Ruby let out a small gasp when their eyes fell on the other, a small,    excited smile resting where their usual looks of worry or confusion    might be. Most of the creatures they met on Earth were too unusual    or intimidating for them to be comfortable around, but this one was    different. They had a gem! They sat down on their knees and waved    in the creature’s direction.

”Oh, hello! I didn’t know Earth had gems like you!”

”What’s camp? Is that some kind of gemstone?”

   “Oh no, of course not! It’s...” They trailed off, a bit at a loss for words. Aquamarine’s abilities always amazed Ruby, but there was something extra remarkable about watching something they had created come to life in the same way. Although the ice sculpture wasn’t entirely Ruby’s doing, they couldn’t help but feel somewhat special after seeing it. Like they were actually worth something; like they weren’t just another ruby sent to scout ahead or retrieve a more powerful gem for Homeworld’s army. Like maybe, just maybe, they could do something important with their existence, whether it was to make a difference, or just learn more than most rubies were willing to. Ruby was silent for a while after that, wondering what they really wanted to do with their time on Earth before remembering that the other gem had asked them a question.

   “Well anyway, I came here with my aquad to find Jasper and bring her back to Homeworld because she was a really good soldier, and Homeworld was, or um, is really short on resources, but we couldn’t find her, and after that, um...” They paused, shrugging to themselves. “I don’t know... I got left behind by mistake. Or maybe on purpose, but... I don’t really mind anymore.”

⌜🌊⌟ — HIS GAZE traced every move Ruby made, intrigued by their story. If Ruby was the last gem they had room for, that meant they must have been pretty young. That would explain why Ruby didn’t have much of a grip on their abilities. The tears they shed earlier surprised him, though. Aqua didn’t realize how much praise affected Ruby. Nonetheless, Aquamarine made a note to himself to continue complimenting them. After all, Ruby deserved as much positivity as possible.

⌜🌊⌟ — ❝ REALLY? THAT’S quite interesting, Ruby. I did not know you were that new, ❞ he remarked, lightly patting their head. ❝ Let me help you with your story, ❞ Aqua offered. He bent down and gently wrapped an arm around them. Aquamarine extended his other arm towards their illustration and opened his hand. Water flowed from their palm onto the wall, adding details to it and increasing its size.

⌜🌊⌟ — VARIOUS SHADES of blue colored the wall. Then, he turned the wall into solid ice. The holes became actual hollows in the ice with different marks lining the interior. ❝ I hope you did not mind! ❞ Aquamarine laughed, withdrawing his arms and standing up. ❝ I get a bit carried away sometimes. Anyways, why did you come to Earth? ❞ he inquired, eager to hear more about them.

”Y-Yeah!” They threw their hands up in the air, glad that the other gem    knew what they were talking about without further explanation. “It was    kind of scary at first, and being dropped hurt a little, but it was kind of    cool, too! I’ve never been able to float, before!”

“You mean trap you in a bubble?” She raised an eyebrow. “You liked that?” She shrugged, and chuckled softly. “I mean, alright. If you really want to.”

They sat on the of the side road, hugging their knees to their chest    as they watched the strange machines- cars, they were told- race    by, all in such a hurry to get to their destination. It didn’t quite make    sense to them. From what they’d observed, it didn’t seem like    humans were ever given missions that were all that important. They    were just told to do things like stand behind counters or staple papers    together. 

Humans were so... so... confusing! Nothing they did made any sense to    them, and no one was ever willing to explain it to them, either! Well,    that wasn’t entirely true. That Steven boy had tried a bit, but it seemed    that even he didn’t know everything about humans, what, with being half    gem and all. 

They frowned to themselves, watching humans walk and drive by until one    human in particular caught their attention. Wasn’t that the girl that hung    around Steven all of the time? Ruby hopped to their feet, rubbing (and    stumbling) to catch up with the girl.

”Hi, uh, can I ask you something?”

Ruby simply stared at the other gem (the other gems?) for    a while- quite longer than socially acceptable, I might add-    before approaching them. Even then, Ruby couldn’t make    direct eye contact with the fusion; couldn’t stop twiddling    their thumbs in a failed attempt to relieve some of their    anxiety. They were a little nervous around any gem that    wasn’t a Ruby. Rubies understood them for the most part,    even though the rest of their squad wasn’t nearly as nervous    about things as they were, and although the gem before them    was part Ruby, they had a harder time approaching them than    they did with any of the other gems they’d met on Earth.

“Ruby? Or, uh- Sophie- No, um...” They paused giving themselves    a moment to remember the fusion’s name before continuing on.    “Oh! Garnet! Garnet, what’s it like being fused all of the time? And    with someone who’s not a Ruby!”

Their gaze went a bit wide as they were told of the other’s people, normally    timid eyes sparkling with wonder and intrigue. They never knew of anyone    who did something like that. To just travel the universe for the fun of it! Oh,    they could hardly even imagine how great that must be! No missions they    had to worry about messing up on, no big scary enemies to fight... 

“Oh, wow... Do you... Do you think I could be a star nomad, too? I don’t think    I’m very good at being a soldier sometimes...”

                    Like the ruby, the nomad has also only talked to humans. Not with a                     gem, but she has met a human. With a smile, she decided to educate                     them of her kind. Sure, she didn’t know everything about her kind, but                     she was gonna try her best.

                     ❛ Well, a star nomad is a human-like foreigner that travels the                        universe. except with a lot of fur. ❜

”Wow...” They paused a moment to count to ten on their fingers before    speaking again, in a loud, exclamatory tone. “That’s so much! You    must be a really powerful gem!” Ruby gave the pizza in their hands    a second look before closing their eyes and taking a nervous bite,    chewing, and swallowing. “Oh, hey, you’re right! This is really good!”

“Relax dude I once ate 10 boxes of pizza and I’m still alright. Just try it.”

“Hmm!” Ruby tipped their head to the side, still more than a little confused by the gem before them. They glanced over at the rest of their squad, all working their piloting stations, before turning back to the Pearl. They knew that they should really go man their station, but they were just so intrigued by this gem! Besides, what’s the worst that could happen if one of the five stations went unmanned? With this decision, Ruby sat on the floor in front of the other, hugging their knees to their chest as they stared at the Pearl for a bit longer. “So you’re a Pearl,right? Who do you belong to?” They paused for a moment to point over at the fusion of Ruby and Sapphire. “Are you that one’s?”

“Eeeeeeh…right,” Pearl said, grimacing. Maybe she was getting a bit too carried away. She could almost feel Amethyst glaring at her. Truthfully she didn’t want to fight either, but if it came down to it that was exactly what they would do. Pearl decided to take another route in her theatrics. She draped one hand dramatically across her forehead. “Oh the shame! Held captive by Rubies!”

Ruby quickly returned the smile they were given, (albeit in their    usual nerve-ridden fashion) quickly following after the other and    doing their best to keep up which was, admittedly, a bit hard for    them to do. Their legs were so much smaller and shorter than    Pearl’s, and while the other could step in deep strides, Ruby was    limited to however far their short, vaguely stumpy legs could carry    them. 

”Oh! I didn’t know you were watching over a meeting, You must be really    important, huh? I’m just a foot soldier, and you’re helping me? Wow,    thank you!” They stumbled a bit as they kept up, still not used to walking    and talking at the same time. Instinct told Ruby to reach out and grab the    other gem’s hand to better keep their balance, but their anxiety kept them    from doing so, not wanting to inconvenience the other more than they    already had.

the diamonds would be in their meeting for a while longer…there was enough time, pearl decided. she shook her head at the ruby, smiling. and otherwise…well, this ruby couldn’t just wander around until their squad got back from their mission.

“it’s quite alright. i just have to be back by the time the meeting is over. but i would be more than happy to show you where the other rubies went. follow me.”

blue diamond’s pearl started walking towards hanger r-seven, bare feet making little sound of the polished floors of yellow diamond’s headquarters. she turned around to make sure the little ruby didn’t get lost.

Ruby was silent for a while before questioning Peridot further, trying to get    a grasp on what Jasper was like. They still weren’t entirely sure why    Peridot was speaking of her with such distaste, no matter how hard they    tried to understand it. As intense as some of their fellow Rubies were,    Ruby could never really dislike any of them, but maybe it was different    when you had to work with gems who weren’t as similar to you. They    let out a soft “hmm” before fully opening their mouths again.

”So was Jasper... bad?” They weren’t entirely sure how else to phrase the    question they were trying to ask.

Their curiosity seem to spark more and more thoughts in their head of theirs. Wondering about how Peridot and Jasper gotten along. Bringing it up once again didn’t bring such bad memories. It was more irritating rather than feeling awful about herself. Jasper was the one who was awful.

“ Basically like that. you rubies and jaspers are both quartzs.  At least she can do her job, Jasper on the other hand is much more intense than the arm gem ruby.” Peridot replied back, giving a contrast and comparison between the two gems. The green gem was more use to speaking to peridots back on Homeworld, but now she can speak to all kinds of gems.
