@disco_dickins @ankadabrowskaart We are very excited to announce we are joining forces (HANKA collective is born!) to create Hackneys banner for London Pride 2024 commissioned by @hackneycouncil

We want this to be a collaboration with our queer community to create meaningful work about what it means to be queer in Hackney in the past, present and the future. Many of us feel London Pride has become a corporate sell out. This is our chance to represent the rich tapestry of our Hackney LGBTQIA+ community.

We are looking for support and participation in the following ways;

If you are or know of a Hackney based LGBTQIA+ community group that would like to take part please get in touch.

We will also be running open workshops for people who aren’t directly connected to community groups. Keep an eye on our socials for the free banner making workshops we will be hosting across the borough in May.

We are looking for materials, donations, trimmings, fabrics, sequins, colourful vintage fabric/ looks we can repurpose that have seen better days. paints etc..

If you are a Hackney based venue that would like to host us we would love to hear from you.

I am joining the global general strike for Palestine today Friday 20th of October alongside 40+ artists and cultural organisations in the UK, US and Europe. We’ll be taking the time to learn and reflect together and we encourage you to join in solidarity 🇵🇸

We call for an end to the killing and harming of all civilians, demand an immediate ceasefire, and the passage of humanitarian aid into Gaza. We call for the end of the complicity of our governing bodies in grave human rights violations and war crimes. Our governments are not only tolerating war crimes but aiding and abetting them.

Anka Dabrowska is a queer artist working and living in London. Her installation HOPE & GLORY is a mixture of drawings, collage, sculptures and placards embracing themes of queer empowerment, identity, belonging, environmental issues, architecture and regeneration.

This is part of the fantastic Pride Art Map, the art trail of 60 or so installations/exhibitions organised by @margatepride

Anka's work will be on show from 4 August.

On 22nd-23rd July, Tom of Finland Foundation will bring the #tofARTfair to London once again, this time taking place at @thestandardlondon in King’s Cross. Also taking place in Berlin and LA, this year’s Festival is the Foundation’s annual programming effort to bring together artists, galleries and patrons from all over the globe to celebrate Queer and erotic art.

Curated by @richard_villani and @gemmarollsbentley, this year’s Festival will see artists showcase their work over the weekend. Artists include @castrrick, @martinperrystudio, @pagettmatthew, @mkinkster, @richardkilroy, @thefurrealist, @_felipechavez, @jamesdearlove_art, @adschuring, and more, plus wearable silk art by @cometopame and a gallery curated by @thequeerarchive especially for the Festival.

As well as the gallerists and artists showcasing at the Festival, throughout the weekend there will also be a selection of talks and activities centered on art and erotica. Among the offerings are the “Leather Talk - Past, Present, Future” discussion with @brewhunter.dom and Sir Durk Dehner; a discussion on porn featuring performers @johneast87, @thegabrielcross, @leander_official, and more; a life-drawing session coordinated by @sketchsesh’s @jamesdavisonstudio with soundscape by @ahmd.club; and the “Writing Queer Sex” discussion between @jeremyathertonlin and @laurenjohnjoseph and moderated by @amelia_abraham.

To kick the weekend off, Tom of Finland will be throwing a pre-party in collaboration with Brew Hunter’s @hunter.l.d.n party. Taking place on Friday 21st July at @electrowerkz_, the dress code will fit across various subcultures within the Fetish community.

The Tom of Finland Art & Culture Festival 2023 – GlobalSexual will take place 22nd–23rd July in London.
