It fascinates me that two of the three times we've seen Childe use Foul Legacy, the transformation takes a while. In Fontaine, it took long enough that Paimon was able to comment on it, and Neuvilette could step in. But when he transformed to protect Teucer, it was instantaneous.
I might be delusional, but that indicates to me that protecting his family comes more naturally to him than anger, even now.
#genshin impact#childe#tartaglia#yes I wrote this before playing the 4.1 Archon quest#so if I'm wrong I don’t know it yet lmao

Deserved
pairing: Kazuha x Wanderer
summary: Kazuha would really like it if his lover could admit he deserves good things, and sets out to convince him.
content warning: PWP, t!scara, fem terms used for junk, praise kink, begging, crying, good ol' emotions
notes: Wanderer is called Kuni for part of this fic. Completely unbeta'd. I wrote this at 12 AM with my dick, ok, just shush and enjoy.
=========================================== “Cl- so close,” gasps the Wanderer, which is the nearest his pride will let him get to begging. If Kazuha stops now, he swears he’ll - Kazuha stops.
The Wanderer gasps at the loss and picks his head up to glare down at the other man. “K-Kazuha, what the hell?”
Kazuha has no business looking as attractive as he does right now, sandwiched between the Wanderer’s thighs with slick glistening down his jaw and high on his cheeks. If the Wanderer weren’t already flushed from the orgasm he had been rudely denied, he’d blush at the indecent sight.
Kazuha sticks his tongue out cheekily and laps twice at his clit - which makes his legs twitch uncontrollably - before he goes back to smiling serenely up at the Wanderer. “Do you deserve to cum, Kuni?”
The Wanderer gapes down at the other man, who seems content to nuzzle into his thigh as he waits for an answer, pressing light kisses up and down the soft skin. An answer that presents itself immediately like a splash of cold water, evaporating the lingering buzz of his pending orgasm.
No, of course he doesn’t. Especially not from Kazuha.
He hadn’t expected tonight to take that turn, and the shock of being shocked is paralyzing him in place. He isn’t sure how to get his feet under him. Normally he’d expect things to go poorly. Why hadn’t he expected that this time? What had made him let his guard down? What-
Kazuha nips gently at his thigh - just the lightest impression of teeth - and leans in to breathe hot air over his pussy, which throbs traitorously. “Mm, what has you so quiet, my dear?” he asks. The Wanderer comes back to himself with a gulp, unsure how long he’s been silent.
“I thought tonight was supposed to be about me…” the Wanderer says, trailing off into a mutter as he hears the words coming out of his own mouth with a wince. Stupid. Idiot, vulnerable idiot, why would you admit that, why would anything ever be about you-
“And it is,” Kazuha’s voice cuts in gently as he rises up to his knees and scoots upward so he’s hovering over the Wanderer, bracing one hand next to his shoulder. The Wanderer scoffs and looks aside, closing his legs as soon as Kazuha’s out from in between them. He can’t bear to meet Kazuha’s gentle eyes or see Niwa’s red streak in his hair when the words coming out are so cruel. “I just want to know,” Kazuha says in a soft voice.
The Wanderer huffs out an unnecessary breath. “Obviously not. Was this your plan the whole time?” He grits his teeth and finds he’s starting to feel shivers across his shoulders and chest - from the cold air, certainly, not from the uncertainty, he’s not that weak- “Get me to the edge and then remind me of my place?” He finishes, glaring daggers at the bedside table to his right.
“No, of course not,” says Kazuha, bringing his left hand up to the Wanderer’s chin to coax him into looking his way. The Wanderer still refuses to meet his eyes, staring instead at his jaw. “Why do you think you don’t deserve this pleasure?”
The Wanderer groans and drops his head down to the bed, crossing both arms over his face to hide his eyes. “You know damn well why. Do you want me to recount it all for you now so you can get off to it?”
“I would like to hear a short summary,” Kazuha says.
If it were anyone else, the Wanderer would simply blast the asshole off him and walk out the door - or fly out the window, whichever was closer. But this is Kazuha. The Kaedehara. The one person he owes honesty to the most, after the Dendro Archon and the Traveler. In the grand scheme of all he’d done to dismantle the man’s family, the last surviving member of Niwa’s clan demanding his humiliation isn’t too much to ask for in retribution.
He just wishes the man had asked him to debase himself normally, instead of raising his hopes and getting him wet enough to feel the cold air down there even with his legs snapped shut.
The Wanderer heaves a shaky breath and starts. “Where would you like me to start? When I tore apart the Raiden Gokaden? When my plotting turned from revenge against one clan to dismantling all the Electro Archon had built because I despise her very existence? Or would you like me to start after I joined the Fatui?” He gives a humorless chuckle. “There are nearly three hundred years of criminal activity to dig through there, we’d be here a week. Or would my most recent transgressions against Sumeru and her Archon suffice?” His breath is wavering uncomfortably now, so he stops taking in air except to talk. “I don’t even deserve to be here, except for the Traveler and Buer’s infinite wisdom and mercy,” he spits out.
Kazuha’s hand lands lightly on his right shoulder and the Wanderer fights a full-body flinch, squeezing his eyes shut even behind his arms.
“Thank you for being honest,” Kazuha says. “Now, shall I tell you why I think you do deserve this?”
The Wanderer lifts his arms above his head and stares at Kazuha in disbelief. “Excuse me? Are you touched in the head, or is this some sick joke? I told you the role I had in your family’s downfall, so you decided to raise my hopes up before reminding me of reality, is that it? I have to admit, it’s a more cunning plan than I thought you’d be capable of, Kaedehara, well done..”
Kazuha lets him finish his tirade before speaking up, as always. It seems considerate, but how considerate could it possibly be when the man is dragging up his past and using it to deny him?
“You deserve to cum because you’re trying, Kuni,” Kazuha says, seeming to roll over his outburst. “Do you have any idea how well you’re doing? It’s been five months and you haven’t lost your temper.”
The Wanderer laughs, bringing his arms back to cover his face again when it comes out weak and vulnerable. “Low bar, that.”
Kazuha also laughs, and the Wanderer considers that maybe he’s bad at interpreting tone. It makes no sense for Kazuha’s laugh to sound affectionate now, of all times.
“Let me finish, Kuni. You haven’t killed anyone you shouldn’t have, and you’ve shown mercy when the Traveler asks you to. You help out around the Traveler's home, and I’ve seen you cooking food for Paimon on nights when they're too tired. You sit in on classes at the Akademiya and I’ve heard you holding conversations with other scholars without calling them too many names.” Kazuha chuckles. “You sent the Traveler sweets even though you hate them, and I know you wouldn’t cook something new without taste-testing it.”
The Wanderer lets his arms fall above his head again, still not quite daring to breathe. He prays the hope he’s starting to feel isn’t visible in his eyes yet, just in case he’s wrong.
Kazuha strokes his cheek gently, as if he’s afraid to scare the puppet away. “Do you have any idea how incredible it is for you to have come so far in so short a time? Just last year you were singing a song full of rage and hatred, pursuing power to fill the void in your chest… and now you’re thinking of others.”
The Wanderer gulps. “It’s just… repayment…”
Kazuha smiles as he trails off. “Repaying the kindness they’ve shown you with more kindness, yes.”
The Wanderer frowns, frustrated, and props himself up on his elbows to see the other more closely. “No, it’s a transaction. Buer and the Traveler saved my life and showed me the truth; I need to balance the books somehow. I’m not off enjoying myself with frivolous pursuits if that’s what you think. I’m not taking my duty lightly.”
“Would it be so bad if you were?” Kazuha asks, dropping his left hand to stroke gently over the Wanderer’s hip.
“A prisoner isn’t supposed to enjoy their imprisonment.”
“It is my sincere belief that leaving behind your past self would be the best repayment to offer those you’ve wronged.” Kazuha sits back on the Wanderer’s legs, both hands now drawing gentle circles on his bare hips. “It’s one thing to say you wish to make amends, but it’s another entirely to see you embody the change. Of course, I have no memory of the things you’ve done, so I cannot truly speak for the Traveler and Nahida on this, but it would not surprise me if they feel great relief every time you do something The Balladeer would not,” Kazuha says.
The Wanderer can’t think of anything to say in reply and simply stares, his mind stuttering over the implications.
“Would your past self ever have cooked someone’s favorite food for them? Would he have admitted fault? Allowed himself to be vulnerable?” Kazuha strokes a hand firmly from the Wanderer’s collarbone down to his stomach and kindly doesn’t mention the broken breath that leaves the puppet at the motion. “Would he have allowed himself to smile genuinely as you did tonight?”
The Wanderer shakes his head. Kazuha leans back in and presses his lips to his forehead and he loses control of the tears he’s been fighting.
“You’re trying. You’re doing well, Kuni.”
“Fuck,” the Wanderer breathes, curling in on himself like a wounded animal and bringing his hands up immediately to try and muffle himself as the tears fall. “No, I’m not- I’m - not a good person, I’m never going to be a good person, this is all I can do, I don’t deserve-” He cuts himself off with a whine and hunches into himself even further. Kazuha shuffles forward so he’s practically in the Wanderer’s lap and wraps his arms around his back, rocking gently left and right as the other shakes apart..
“Isn't this a transaction?” Kazuha asks, bringing back his own words to counter him. “What matters is not your nature, but your actions. As I said before, I don’t remember the crimes you committed against my ancestors. I made peace with my past and I’d like to help you do the same.” The puppet shakes his head against Kazuha’s chest, but burrows closer and flings his arms around to clutch at his shoulders desperately. Kazuha sighs. “If you must owe me something, then I’d like to claim it in the form of proof that you’ve changed.”
“H-How?” the Wanderer questions, though he already has an inkling of where this is going.
“If you’re comfortable with it, I’d like to continue giving you the pleasure you deserve.” Kazuha rocks the Wanderer back and forth again. “If you’d like to call things off here, that is of course fine. But I don’t want you to continue thinking you should be denied things like this. I want you to see you’re capable of emotions other than fury and pain.”
The Wanderer should be embarrassed at how quickly his body seems to switch back on with interest, even while tears are still trickling down his face. He still doesn’t think he deserves this, but if Kazuha is offering even after his shameful outburst, then he’s damn well going to be selfish.
“Yes,” he says, trying his best to compose himself. “Yes, I- I’d like that.”
Kazuha kisses his tear-stained cheeks, following the path down to his mouth. The kiss is deep, long, and so slow that the Wanderer feels his head starting to spin despite not needing air. The way Kazuha sweeps his tongue over and around his own feels frighteningly intimate, like there’s nowhere he can hide from that pressing warmth.
Nowhere he needs to hide.
By the time the kiss breaks, Kazuha has tilted him back down to sprawl out on the bed. Kazuha wiggles his hand out from under Kuni’s back with a chuckle and another peck at his lips, and Kuni very belatedly realizes he was trapping the samurai’s hand. His head already feels like it’s filling with cotton.
Kazuha slides back down Kuni’s body in one smooth move, gently parting his legs and slotting himself back between them to breathe hot air over his cunt again.
“Do you think you can tell me you deserve this, Kuni?” Kazuha asks. His mouth is hovering just above where they both want it, and Kuni shudders with both anticipation and the lingering aftershocks from crying.
“I can try,” he admits. Kazuha smirks.
“We have all night,” he says, and then his tongue is pressing hot and firm against his clit again, finally.
Kuni’s head falls back and he lets himself enjoy the feeling again, letting it drown out some of his shame. He raises himself back on his elbows and looks down at Kazuha with great effort, sucking in a breath when he realizes the other is staring up at him with hooded eyes while going down on him.
Kuni knows what he’s waiting for.
“I -” deserve this, he means to say, but the words get stuck. “I’ve been trying to be good,” he says instead, feeling like that’s closer to the truth. He has been trying, every day, he just never expected anyone to notice.
“Mmhmm?” Kazuha hums while closing his lips around his clit, laving it generously with his tongue. Go on, his eyes seem to say.
“Hhh-aaaaah,” Kuni moans as he squeezes his eyes shut. It’s easier to lie like this when he doesn’t have to see Kazuha. “I’ve been trying really hard, I- I h-helped with that dumb festival when Nahida asked me to.” He’s rewarded and teased with a small dip of Kazuha’s tongue inside his hole before the other licks back up to his throbbing clit.
“F-fuu- I tried to give that astrologist advice, but it didn’t….” He wracks his brain, thoughts quickly scattering. “I g-gave that forest ranger my water when he collaps- oh fuck, Kazuha, right there, just like that.” He breaks off into moans as Kazuha finally starts tongue-fucking him in earnest, carressing all around his twitching hole before diving in and curling his tongue in the most delicious way.
Kazuha hums questioningly again, so Kuni drags his head out of the clouds to gasp another broken sentence. “I k-keep cooking food for the T-Traveler’s dumb p-pet, even though she hates me for no rrreeeeaaa- sss- ohhhhhh.” That rewards him with two fingers sliding in and stretching him wide immediately as Kazuha returns to lapping just at his entrance teasingly. Kuni hears himself babbling and realizes he’s begging, far too turned on to care about pride.
“Please pleasepleaseplease I’ve been good, I’ve been good, please-” and something about the sentence finally hits him, his stomach tightening with something that feels like anxiety - like cold fire, but ecstasy.
“I’ve been good,” he gasps again, feeling it in his chest this time. He’s been good, he’s been polite, he’s listened even to people who don’t deserve it, he’s helping with dumb commissions- shit, he’s already close. It’s like his denied orgasm from before has returned in full force. “Ahhhhhh, Kazu- Kaaaaa- Kazuha, please please, ‘nna cum, wanna cum, please-”
"Mmmhmm, c'mmmnn," Kazuha mumbles, not even bothering to lift his face to talk properly. One last glance down is all it takes - the sight of Kazuha's eyes glazed and unfocused as he focuses on eating Kuni out is enough to push him over the edge with a loud, broken moan.
He gathers breath he doesn't need as Kazuha guides him through the orgasm with a gentle tongue, cleaning him up. Kazuha pants like he was the one who just came as he pulls back.
"So, did you deserve that?" he asks, and Kuni is too languid to even worry about his answer.
"Mmhmm," he mutters, feeling a strange smile quirk his lips up. It feels…. free.
"And how about another? Do you deserve another?" Kazuha says, his voice husky as he leans back in, already teasing Kuni's slit with the very tip of his tongue.
"M-maybe?" Kuni says, shocked. The first one was so good already, and surely Kazuha wants to cum as well, shouldn't he return the favor…?
"Let's see if we can turn that into a yes," Kazuha growls, and starts again, loving Kuni's overstimulated cries and the hand which finally tangles in his hair, pulling him closer. =====================================

@yellow-eyed-green-crocodile Y'know? I was going to ask "but then why does the NRE exist at all", but now that I think about it more, that makes sense. Because everyone in the cast can re-summon their weapons at will, not just the Traveler. We've seen it in cutscenes! So why NOT store a plate of delicious fluffy pancakes in your aura and then pull it out perfectly intact and delicious 8 months later to hand to a guard in Liyue? I do still like the theory that Traveler is the only one with such a LARGE inventory, though. Partly because I like bringing in sci-fi aspects, and partly because it's just fuckin' funny to imagine people being shocked that they're walking around with upwards of 1000 radishes (it's me I literally have over 1000 radishes PLEASE HELP) Also worth noting that according to one of Traveler's voice lines, Paimon doesn't know how people make their weapons disappear when they store them. Which is WILD. iirc, she likens it to how she disappears into thin air sometimes. Which, like.... ????? Bro are you storing yourself??
I wonder if Wanderer prefers using the NRE, because it's instantaneous and makes everything bland. He doesn't need to eat, and seems mostly to enjoy the social aspect of it anyway based on his teapot lines, so he probably just wants to get food over with when needed in/after battle.
Ofc this brings up the question of whether characters in-game are really scarfing down whole-ass chickens in the middle of battle to heal LMAO but we'll ignore that question for now.

If Tartaglia is a certified senior fucker based on that one joke trophy image (his more popular ships are Zhongli, Traveler, Scaramouche - all at least over 400 years old) then Wanderer is certified for future heartbreak because his most popular ships are either with humans who will die and leave him alone again, or an otherworldly traveler who doesn't (yet) plan on sticking around. Looking at you, Kazuha, Mona, and Traveler.
This is why Wanderer and Albedo need to meet and bond over their shared inhumanity and their trouble with feelings. One felt too much upon his creation, while the other felt too little and still struggles with understanding and expressing human emotion. Rhinedottir also stopped teaching Albedo when she realized he was experiencing human emotions but he took it very differently than Scaramouche, likely in part because she..... you know. Communicated what she was doing. And left him with someone rather than on his own.
I'm sure that helped.
Also Wanderer needs a positive scientific influence in his life so he can hopefully realize that the scientific process can be beneficial when not conducted by someone who doesn't care if their subject is in pain or not, in this essay I will-
#wanderer#scaramouche#albedo#scarabedo#besides the ship name even sounds great#it sounds like spiderbedo#and then that makes me think of the VA being silly#good times

@pepper-demon I can't reply directly in the comments bc this is a side-blog, but yes! Yeah, I read it after making that post. So I guess Ei didn't originally even name him, and Traveler's name for Wanderer is (potentially) his first true "name", rather than a title. But he's also definitely seen some of the previous titles as names, which is cool. His relationship with names is interesting and def. something I wanna explore more. They all had wildly different feels.

OWO i absolutely love your sagau take regarding how the characters feel the players influence, aka being restricted heavily by the code and then once player is gone they are like ??? Dafaq???? Its pretty similar to my headcanons and I like that because its just an interesting twist from most of the sagau stories Ive read uwu
So this reply is incredibly late but I want you to know I've thought about this message at least once a week and it keeps giving me warm fuzzy feelings even amidst the guilt for not replying sooner lol Thank you!!! So much.
#I guess I need a tag for my own stuff huh#uhhhhh#ab-answers#sure hope that's not anything else major

I've just realized that aside from the forgotten name Ei gave him, all of Wanderer's names have been more... titles. "Kabukimono" meaning eccentric, "Kunikuzushi" being a theater archetype meaning country destroyer, "Scaramouche" also being a theater archetype, "The Balladeer"... Wanderer.
If the theory about Harbinger names going with the position is correct (i.e. every 11th is named Tartaglia) then that also supports this.
Sure names are often based on real words, but... I think they were going for a situation where the only true names he's had are the forgotten one and the one Traveler granted him.

Well that hurt. Guys, I think Wanderer hates me. u_u Good thing I can just pretend he doesn't with artistic license!!! 8D
I also STILL don't have DIluc, I got a second Qiqi instead, Genshin please Remember to spend responsibly, etc. This was budgeted safely on my end months in advance.

A friend and I coordinated to pick both options at the fortune teller in the most recent 3.1 Archon quest, and, well...
I love the confirmation on immortal harem Traveler. XD
Also yeah, I've been MIA since my last post, oops. Just had my head in the sand with work, being sick, and then also CONSUMING Sumeru content. Just shoving it into my brain as fast as possible. Man, I love Sumeru already. There's so much LORE. I have so many plot ideas now.

Children of the Stars (Masterlist)
Children of the Stars unite // Don’t you be afraid to share your light Together we can burn so bright // That we’ll chase the shadows from the world ~ "Children of the Stars", The Orion Experience
Summary: After being pulled into the world of Genshin Impact and confirming you're not in danger, you decide to push your luck and the boundaries of the game systems. Best to be prepared in case you have to break their reality to protect them from the writers. You've read plenty of other SAGAU fics, so this should be a cinch, right?
A collection of Self-Aware Genshin AU (SAGAU) fics, both SFW and NSFW, from someone who's delved entirely too deep into Genshin lore this past year. These are polyamorous, thinly-veiled excuses for self-indulgent, self-insert crack. Contain obvious bias towards my favorite characters and obvious bias against Celestia.
This is not a fic! This is a masterlist. Check below if you're interested in what I have planned for the series. If you want to be tagged in future works, either send an ask or say something in the notes!
Prologue: Pre-Arrival - Meeting Aether [Planned] - Meeting Childe [Planned] - Meeting Albedo [Planned]
Chapter I: Arrival in Mondstadt - [pending]
Chapter II: Liyue - Summoning Zhongli [Planned] - Meeting Scaramouche: His first attempt to understand you does not go as he intended.
Chapter III: Inazuma - [pending]
Interlude I: - Happy Birthday, Tartaglia (nsfw)
Interlude II: - Scaramouche Comfort: You had a bad day and want head pats from a scrunkly war criminal. - Meeting Kazuha: Kazuha's thoughts about you during the story - Summoning Kazuha [Planned] - Meeting Heizou: Heizou's thoughts about you during his hangout (she/her pronouns)
Chapter IV: Sumeru - Bruh I can't believe this will be here soon
I'll also post a masterlist sorting by character after I write a bit more. I plan to continue writing this alongside the storyline, but my hyperfocus could shift at any time.
