When you braid my hair again
To: my mother.
I can’t wait to have long hair again so you can braid it in the early morning.
I can’t wait for you to braid it like you used to.
My long, thick hair resting in your lap, as you twist the strands of it together; incasing all of your hopes and dreams, your promises to me.
Most people with long hair expect it, and I honestly couldn’t be more jealous.
Most kids get their hair braided standardly but I know that when I get my hair braided it means so much more than anybody else’s.
When did I stop being your little girl?
Your future?
Your love?
Your pride and joy?
Can I be again? Or do you only have enough of a heart left to braid my hair...one...last...time.
I can’t wait for the day when you braid my hair again.
When your braid my hair again.
