"Thinketh No Evil" 👿🤔
A few of my sisters from the church studied what Charity is and what it is not. We were tasked to break down each scripture word for word and I was given the portion of 1 Corinthians 13:5 ‘thinketh no evil.’ One of the characteristics of what charity is not. When I first read the scripture, “Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;” I thought to myself, “that’s pretty self explanatory, don’t think about evil stuff..cool I got it!” 😎 But as I continued to look deeper into those words and found additional supporting scriptures, I was amazed at how much I learned about myself. It caused me to dig deeper into my heart, mind, and soul to gain an increase naturally and spiritually in this particular area.
The New International Version reads “It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.” The last portion 'it keeps no record of wrongs’ translated to me as not holding grudges. So ok I get it, that’s hard but ok cool. 👌🏾 I found a reference scripture 2 Timothy 4:16 “At my first answer no man stood with me, but all men forsook me: I pray God that it may not be laid to their charge.” and NIV “At my first defense, no one stood with me, but everyone deserted me. May it not be charged against them.”
Paul was offended, hurt, shamed and yet he asked the Lord to forgive them?! Wow!! When we were in the world, because we’re saved right…ok, if someone did us wrong, we wanted to get even..or was that just me? 👀 I know I’ve said before “she’s lucky I’m saved..” like what’s that supposed to mean? You may as well had committed the offense because your heart was/is still wicked! Which led me to the following scripture Matthew 9:4 “And Jesus knowing their thoughts said, Wherefore think ye evil in your hearts?” and NIV “Knowing their thoughts, Jesus said, "Why do you entertain evil thoughts in your hearts?”
So Jesus was performing miracles, healing people, calming nature, and casting out demons, etc. He was doing his thing! 🙌🏾 A paralyzed man was taken to him and Jesus forgave him of his sins and people were talking under their breath and thinking to themselves..blasphemy! Jesus was probably like “Why are y'all out here entertaining foolishness as if I’m not out here healing, casting, calming, forgiving, etc? (Like I said, doing his thing!) Don’t you know who I am?” At this point I’m thinking to myself as well, how often do I, in my heart, complain about things?
💔Even though I may say with my mouth “I forgive and forget..” my heart may say or feel another way. Or if I just say it to “make it go away”. Or the hurt and anger may rise again at a later date because I didn’t really go through the initial process of actually in my heart forgiving that person and asking God to help me. It means I’m not really relying on God to be my healer, protector, shield, whatever it may be, from the past and possible future harm and offenses that may come. I was able to examine myself and gained another lesson on this passage that we read often but never really dug deep into it for myself. When offenses come, forgive that person and pray for them and then pray for yourself that God may take away any evil feelings or thoughts towards that person! Heal my broken and wicked heart Lord! ❤️
And I tell you that I felt a weight lift off of me. A weight I didn’t know was there until my mind was taken back to the time when I was hurt and offended. I was immediately reminded of how God brought me through that situation and BLESSED me with something greater than I could have imagined! 👏🏾

“He looked at me and said my skin was the color of dirt. I thanked him for comparing me to my Mother Earth. She is mountains that are wide and vast. Rivers that carve their own paths. Remote destinations untouched by any man’s hand. Flowing with milk and honey, the promised land. When oxygen has escaped our lungs our bones laid to rest. We’ll become one with the mother. With the dirt that you detest.” // x-jadeion j. // Hey guys! So I wrote this poem a few months back and was hesitant to post it. Since it’s black history month I decided to get it down in my journal with a pretty collage. (yes that’s my handwriting…I literally write 3-4 different ways lol) EVERYONE should be proud of their natural looks no matter what anyone else may have to say about it. 🍯 ✨🍯✨🍯

Currently reading “Stories That Teach Girls” in support of my sister in Christ, Ms. I. It’s an awesome read for young girls and teenagers. A passage in her book mentions the song, “Pressure,” by Jonathan McReynolds and I absolutely love it. I hope you enjoy, be blessed. “We should only change as God wants us to change.” ~ Author, Iantha Ussin
*Update* This is a link to the actual version of “Pressure” that I love! I’m new to Tumblr so still trying to figure out how to properly post.
