Private & semi-selective role play blog based on this concept. Will most likely turn into more of an exercise in writing than actual rp (depending on how many of my friends I drag into this). Please read all pages. Loved by Mary Est. March 30, 2020

Writing Prompt: A character knows they should go to sleep but they purposefully do something else instead...
She should have been in bed hours ago; especially with her having an examination in the morning. And she had tried. But she just couldn’t stop thinking about the conversation from earlier. About what Lorcan had said concerning the theatre and what he had witnessed.
And so here she was...clad in pajama trousers and a jumper, sneaking around the Stage Door with only the flashlight on her phone for light. And while brave...it probably wasn’t the brightest of moves...sneaking out, putting herself in danger, all while no one knew where she was.
And so she sent a quick text to her brother before picking the lock and making her way inside. There. At least now if she didn’t return by morning, someone would know where to start looking...

Writing Prompt: Dialogue
"Granddad, are you seeing this?" Tamsin couldn’t help but notice the way the others, out and about for a walk, made sure to cross the road before reaching them.
"Yeah. Keep moving."
"It appears that we've acquired a reputation as people best giving a wide berth to." Not that Charles was particularly surprised by it. Find yourself in the vicinity of enough dead bodies and others are bound to become uneasy. Suspicious, even. Though, it wasn’t like they were responsible...they just happened to find said bodies. And often found the ones responsible.
"Good. It'll make this easier." The less people who were around them, the less eyes there were watching them. Which was just perfect for snooping.
"Or they'll grow some balls and try to kill us when they think we aren't paying attention." Okay. So maybe that was a bit of an exaggeration, but Tamsin couldn’t help but feel something bad was on the horizon. Perhaps she should call Lewis...

Writing Prompt Dialogue - "He will eat you.”
It took every bit of self control Fletcher had not to lunge forward and grab Tamsins arm; and only then, it was because he feared any sudden movement would set the creature off. A creature the girl in question was inching ever closer to. “Tamsin. Tamsin! Will you...stop! He will eat you!”
“He will not. Look at him. He’s just a baby...”
“A baby with claws and teeth.” And a paw bigger than Tamsin’s head. And with three dead from vicious maulings... Well... “He’s dangerous.”
“I don’t think he is, though.” Slowly, but steadily, Tamsin offered the striped feline her hand. Palm out and flat, she let the giant cat sniff at it before gently beginning to pet him. “He’s our runaway, for sure. But I don’t think he killed those people. I think someone read about him and took advantage.”
“In other words, he was framed?”
“Exactly.”

Writing Prompt #666 - Write something based on or inspired by the book title: Bodies of Midnight
“Bodies of Midnight? Sounds like a cheesy romance novel.”
“You’re not that far off, actually. Just substitute romance for vampire.”
“And you knew that, how...?” Try as she might, Tamsin couldn’t keep the amused smirk off her face. “Don’t tell me you secretly read these books?”
“Definitely not. Read it off the back.” Taking the book from the table beside him, he leaned forward to hand it to his sister. “And before you ask, yes...I purchased a copy. But only to stop granddad from stealing it from the crime scene.”
As fun as that would have been, Tamsin could see her brother’s reasoning. Flipping through the book, she frowned thoughtfully. “So...we have a dead body and a book about vampires. Any chance a mysterious Count has just moved to the village?”

Prompt 1773: Name a thing that can be used to either heal or destroy. Write about it.
“The most obvious answer is, of course, drugs. People take drugs everyday to help with ailments -- both physical and mental. But drugs also make it really easy to poison someone and then cover it up. Make it look like an overdose...”

List of Other Known Characters (as gleamed from the Twitter thread)
Please consider all of them wanted connections. And as none of these names are set in stone; if anyone ever wants to pick up one of these characters and change the name...by all means do.
Ioan Price: President of the local horticultural society, drunk on his own power. William and Charles loathe him. (FC: Stephen Fry).
Neville Wilkins: Local pre-school teacher; he is hilariously unable to control his tiny charges, yet cannot be fired because half the village is in love with him. He is delightful and wholesome, yet somehow is the prime suspect for almost half of every episode. (FC: Colin Firth).
Braxton Stokes and Fletcher Dunn: Lewis’s two best mates. Constantly left hanging whenever Lewis is called to his granddad’s aid. Tamsin may have the teeniest tiniest crush on Fletcher; something that would cause her to die of absolute embarrassment should he or even Lewis find out. (FC: Aidan Turner and Allen Leech).
Evelyn Jefferies: The ultra-sexy-detective-inspector who is displeased to have amateurs constantly interfering with her investigations. (FC: Helen Mirran).
Felix Hodges: Befuddled neighbor who keeps witnessing shenanigans and doesn’t understand what’s going on or why the police are always around. An accountant that grows roses as a hobby. (FC: Hugh Laurie).
Tabitha Mann: Charles’s loving but acerbic daughter. Forever trying to keep her father out of scrapes. (FC: Olivia Colman).
Cillian Wells: An art thief. One they can never catch and who just happens to stop by for tea every Thursday. (FC: David Tennant).
Vanessa Rees: Lewis’s fiancé. Their relationship status constantly fluctuates as she is a bit fickle in nature. Still, she is smarter than most give her credit for and just rolls her eyes at the antics around her. (FC: Michelle Dockery).
Oscar Mann: Charles’s favorite son-in-law. Husband of Tabitha. (FC: Idris Elba).
Ellery Watts: Local florist who is actually an undercover MI-6 agent. (FC: Benedict Cumberbatch).
Luke Boulton: Grouchy local mechanic who dated one of [Patrick’s] daughter in high school and [Patrick] has not only never forgiven him for breaking up with her, but has boycotted his shop for 20 years. He’s William’s mechanic, which William goes to great lengths to hide from Charles. (FC: Richard Armitage).
Verity Porter: Charles’s first wife who ran off with a photographer from Lisbon back in the 70s and became a successful art dealer. (FC: Miriam Margolyes).
Lorcan Bailey: Owner of a nearby B&B who is always curtain twitching. May or may not be William’s secret love child via [Frances de Latour]. (FC: Patrick Walshe McBride).
Theodore “Teddy” Bryant: One of William’s other grandsons. Tamsin and Lewis’s cousin. (FC: Tom Holland).
Philippa Hayward: An old University chum who they phone sometimes for help decoding a mysterious message in Latin. And every time we see her, she’s clearly in the middle of her own thrilling adventures and is kindly taking five minutes out to answer a call from some old friends. (FC: Maggie Smith).
Benamin “Ben/Benny/Benji” Dyer: One of Charles’s grandsons. (FC: James McAvoy).
Aldrich Jones: Chair of the Parish Council who also organizes neighborhood watches. (FC: Bill Nighy).
I think that’s all of them. At least until people started debating who should actually be in what role and just started suggesting Tom Hiddleston for everything.

Wanted Connection: Charles Dyer (FC: Patrick Stewart)
William’s next door neighbor and the second of our two protagonists. Also a widower, he has lived next door to William for as long as anyone can remember -- the friendship between their two families as solid as bedrock. Nowadays, he and William seem to more often than not find themselves stumbling into one mystery after another. They don’t mean to...it just happens. And sometimes, these mysteries mean dragging the grandkids along for the ride. And why not, there are some valuable life lessons to be learned in these investigations.

Wanted Connection: Lawrence Darby (FC: Sean Bean)
Chosen mostly because I love him and I love the idea of him and Emma Thompson together. They’re just both so talented and brilliant. Like all the characters, I’m leaving him fairly open. But as they do live in Oxford, I don’t think it’s so far off to think he’s a professor. Or maybe a coach of some sort.

Headcanon: Buster
Buster is her grandfather’s corgi, originally bought as an anniversary present for her late grandmother. No longer a pup, Buster is eight years old and reaching that point where he just wants to lay in the garden and eat biscuits. And he almost never comes when called.
That is not to say, however, that he won’t unearth a piece of evidence from time to time. Because he will. And has.

Conversation
June: You'll call to check-in, yes? And do your best to keep your grandfather out of trouble?
Tamsin: Shouldn't it be him keeping me out of trouble?
