I knew the wisdom of the Great Laws. I knew pain and anxiety would be her only birthright. She will be at war with herself. She is of an age where her emotions will soar and plummet, mountains and valleys every day of her life! Her mind and her spirit will age, but the world will treat her as she is now! And she will be miserable.
― Aeschylus, Aeschylus: The Oresteia

somewhat niche yet universally enjoyed and raved about horror show with queer themes and a fucked up gothic romance at the center involving a haunted man learning to accept his nature through his one great love even though that love is toxic and he resists it initially that is completely ignored by award circuits despite its clear high quality in performances, set design and direction and gets renewed through sheer determination by the dedicated fans on social media... welcome back nbc hannibal

it's the way "I want to believe" is such a joke. such a meme. ha ha funny aliens and government conspiracies. until abruptly it's stripped back and it's just a boy who loves his sister, desperately hoping she's okay.

I do know that I'm... forty-five. I've been here a long time. You feel me? I mean you know what the fuck you're doing, you know. You love all this shit. It's fun for you. I don't have that.

"I spent most of my life waiting for God to love me. And then I realized the only thing that matters is I love God."
This was the moment in Fellow Travelers in which I started full on ugly crying. I teared up at a few moments previously, but this meant the world to me as a fellow queer Catholic.
I have never felt so seen as a queer Catholic before. I can relate to this quotation, and to Tim's character, more than I can express with words on Tumblr. I have been very honest with friends and other Catholics in the past few years about how exhausting it is to be a single woman in her thirties in the Catholic Church in general, let alone a queer woman.
I really appreciated how the show demonstrated Tim's deep faith, and it was not played for laughs. It was an essential, demonstrable part of his character, and for me, one of the elements that made him irresistibly compelling.
This last episode, with this particular quotation, really exemplified an aspect of Tim's character and of Catholicism generally I hadn't been thinking about previously while watching the show: forgiveness.
It seems to me he quite literally lived out Jesus's instruction to "turn the other cheek."
Tim forgives Hawk, over and over again. He forgives Lucy; he forgives God.
And by the end of his life, he had finally learned to forgive himself, most important of all.
