#tbt - yesterday's shoot. still in my camera. I'm shooting a ton over the next couple of weeks for a personal project. maybe, more accurately, a personal challenge? I'm meeting up with people for 10 minutes to take portraits. We agree on a time and place to meet up and then see what happens. No location scouting, no production, no big concepts, wardrobe, hair, makeup. Just them, me, my camera, and wherever we show up at the designated time. If I'm honest, it's taking more than 10 mins so far. More like 15-20. but that's just because I get chatty. I'm finding already (and I've only been doing this for 2 days so far) that 10 mins is enough time to get a good photo (or several in some cases), but it's not enough to really connect with a person (no kidding?) and that's one of things I really love about photography. 2015 Year In Review: What an incredible year. From “glamping” in El Capitan Canyon with hundreds of other photographers to Seattle to Detroit, I got around this year. I love to travel, and I’m so grateful I got to explore such awesome places. We adopted a new pup and named her Weegee. #Setlife included film sets for Outfest and tv sets for CBS; photography introduced me to amazing people like choreographer and film maker Haleem Rasul and new band Paint The Muse; my camera got me behind the scenes at Fashion Week to cover my friend Ashton’s shows; I even did my first pregnancy session with my close friend Becca! It was a year of fun, growth, surprises, and wonderful connections. The new year is set for a great start with PhotoL.A. just around the corner and a shoot for Make A Wish foundation on the books. I’m so excited to see what else the new year brings!

In 2008, Spin sent me to the Houdini Mansion to cover a secret show: Stone Temple Pilots were reuniting. After fan-girling out a little, I pulled my gear together and headed out to what ended up being one of my favorite shows. Scott – the whole band, in fact – looked and sounded fantastic. This morning’s news is so sad, but his voice and music live on. #ScottWeiland
