Evander 'Real Deal' Holyfield brings boxing back to Louisville - Gallery
On a Saturday night in Louisville, KY, a good number of boxing enthusiasts were on hand to witness the Evander Holyfield's inaugural Real Deal Championship boxing series. Fights lasted to the early morning in Freedom Hall, but for the people who managed to stay, were able to see a treat as Louisville's own Carlos Dixon stopped his opponent in 30 seconds in his professional début. I feel Happy, I'm blessed. "Thank everybody that came out and showed, stated Carlos after the fight." "I really appreciate it." Four fights were shown through the CBS Sports Network online, as Peter Dobson defeated Jeremy Nichols in a close fight. Toka Kahn Clary stopped a determined Angel Luna. The 6'6 Carlos Negron won in a stoppage over Derric Rossy for the WBC Continental Americas's Heavyweight Championship, while Steven Martinez won in a decision over Anthony Lenk. Check out the gallery from last night's event. Click to Post

Kentucky Wesleyan Panthers- One on One with Michael Malone
Louisville, KY : Charron Elliott
Malone Makes Collegiate All-Commonwealth Team
The Kentucky Pro Football Hall of Fame ceremony will be on June 23rd in Lexington, and along with new Hall of Fame inductees comes the pre-season honor of being named to the Collegiate All-Commonwealth for football players attending Kentucky colleges or universities.
Kentucky Wesleyan College's senior linebacker, Michael Malone, was one of three Panthers' players to earn the preseason honor. Junior defensive back, Ty Martin Miles and senior offensive linemen, Chris Lemus are also listed as part of the All-Commonwealth team. Malone is a Kentucky native, born and raised in Louisville, and was part of a great football program at Louisville Male High School. Last season Malone registered 54 tackles for KWC, including 30 solo tackles, and five tackles for a loss . He was also honored with the Great Midwest American Conference's Defensive Player of the Week in November, after tallying a season-high 16 tackles, one sack, and 1.5 tackles for a loss against Malone University. Analyzed sports spoke with Michael about what the All-Commonwealth means to him and what to expect for his final season of collegiate football. CE: As a kid who grew up in the state, what does it mean to you to be on All-Commonwealth team? How does this rank in your list of accomplishments ? Mike: "This means a lot to me for the simple fact that I am listed as one of the best players in Kentucky on the collegiate level. I think this is one of my biggest accomplishments in my career. I say that because not too many players can say they made this All-Commonwealth team." CE: Who inspired you to play the game of football? Mike: "Seeing the success of my next door neighbors Dexter Heyman and Earl Heyman, who both played for the University of Louisville inspired me to play football. I watched Dexter play at Male when I was in elementary school and got to see Bobby Petrino (University of Louisville football head coach) come to our neighborhood and recruit him. Witnessing that really inspired me to be great." CE: What have been some of the major keys to your success? Mike: "Major keys to my success have been hard work and dedication. Also my daughter has been a huge motivation to me and makes me go even harder than I already had been." CE: With your senior year approaching, what has your overall experience been like at KWC? Mike: "My experience at KWC has been pretty good . I came in and played as a true freshman, made some big plays in some big games, and tied the school's best record in history (7-4). With playing as early as a true freshman, I am a veteran in the game and I feel like I can teach the young guys coming in the things I know and found out with my experience about college football. I feel like that will make a lot of my teammates better by doing so." CE: What are some of your personal/ team goals for the 2017 season? Mike: "Personal goals for the season is to average 10-20 tackles a game, make the All-American Team, and the All-Conference Team. As far as team goals, I want to beat the school win record, win the G-MAC championship and win the Division 2 National Championship."
Malone and Kentucky Wesleyan will look to improve from the 3-8 record of last year and open the 2017 season against another in-state school in Murray State University on August 31 in Murray, Kentucky. It will be the first step in Mike's quest to accomplish his many goals for this season. Click to Post

5-Star Brian Bowen adds to Louisville Cardinals stacked recruiting class
Brian Bowen - June 6, 2017 Louisville, KY. (Analyzed Sports) By: S.K. Patrick
The Cardinals Reload Not Rebuild
When Donovan Mitchell announced his official NBA departure it seemed like a deep cut in the Louisville Cardinals’ wound. Mitchell is expected to be a first-round pick in the NBA Draft. But with recent news that wound may just need a band-aid. Guard Deng Adel plans to return for his junior season. Shortly after the season, Adel announced he would test the NBA waters. He was selected as a substitute and not originally invited. Forward Jaylen Johnson left for early departure, making Adel the team’s No. 2 returning rebounder. Adel, who averaged 12.1 points and 4.5 rebounds for Louisville last season, will return as the Cardinals’ top returning scorer. He led the Cardinals in scoring over their final 6 games of the season, averaging 16.3 points while shooting 54 percent from the field. Against Duke in the ACC Tournament, he scored 21 points and was 7-14 from the field while grabbing 5 rebounds. Deng looks to become a stud and a breakout star this upcoming season but he’s not alone. Coming from La Lumiere School in LaPorte, Indiana there is a stud coming to the Derby City. At 6'7" and 175 pounds with a 6'9" wingspan, Bowen is not an overwhelming presence from an athletic standpoint. In Brian Bowen, the Louisville Cardinals nabbed one of the biggest perimeter players in this year’s class. Bowen's decision comes as a surprise. Bowen’s final 6 schools were North Carolina State, Creighton, Arizona, UCLA, Michigan State and Texas in September. He is a gifted scorer with a high basketball IQ and has a feel for the flow of the game with the ball in playmaking position. Bowen established himself as the 18th-ranked player overall per Scout. Bowen represents another major addition to a recruiting class that already ranks among the nation's best. Bowen will arrive on campus ready to provide an injection of scoring from the perimeter. Bowen is a lean, muscular wing with a scoring streak, and probably a 2-year player at the D-I level. The strange thing about him picking Louisville is the Cardinals already have a solid platoon of wings. V.J. King still has much to prove to live up to his own hype as a premier wing player. A star class also includes frontcourt beast, Malik Williams. Dwayne Sutton averaged 12.0 points and 7.7 rebounds per game as a freshman at UNC-Asheville last season. These are all major moves for Louisville within the ACC. With Duke rebuilding and North Carolina searching for answers in its frontcourt after Tony Bradley to remain in the NBA draft, Louisville could now enter the 2017-18 season as the favorite to win the ACC. REMEMBERING THE WORLD'S CHAMP: What can we learn from Ali's Life Recipe?
Photo By: Rachael Chapman June 4, 2017 Louisville, KY. (Analyzed Sports) - Rachael Chapman
REMEMBERING THE WORLD'S CHAMP: What can we learn from Ali's Life Recipe?
"He took a few cups of love. He took one tablespoon of patience, one teaspoon of generosity, one pint of kindness. He took one quart of laughter, one pinch of concern, and then he mixed willingness with happiness. He added lots of faith and he stirred it up well. Then he spread it over a span of a lifetime, and he served it to each and every deserving person he met." -Muhammad Ali
More than four decades ago Muhammad Ali shared with journalist David Frost his life recipe. Now, a year since 'The People's Champ' was laid to rest, the world remembers his legacy and celebrates the life of one of the greatest and most unforgettable athletes of all time. The three-time heavyweight champion's legacy goes well beyond his successes in the ring. Ali did more than just trash talk his opponents, 'The Louisville Lip' played a vital role in the civil rights movement and the fight for equal rights. While the scenery has changed and there have been many triumphs in the civil rights movement, racial tensions and discrimination are at an all time high.
Photo By: Rachael Chapman In the 1960 Olympic games, Ali overcame every opponent in his way to bring home the gold medal. He stood on that Olympic podium among strangers that saw him for the champion he was, not realizing that his triumph was only the beginning of a long fight for equality. Ali claimed his title as ‘The World’s Champ’ only to return to a still racially divided America that wasn’t ready for the fight that Ali would soon start outside of the ring. Despite his controversial and unapologetic approach, Ali started a conversation that to this day remains. While there have been many triumphs in both athletics and the fight for civil rights, we still have many hurdles to overcome. Racial tension in the United States is again frequenting the headlines. The dissatisfaction and lack of trust in our political leaders again are dividing our nation. Our relationships with nations abroad are beginning to suffer as well with the distrust in our nation's leaders. All of these things are eerily similar to the fight that 'The Goat' faced outside of the ring during the Civil Rights Movement.
As we celebrate the legacy of Muhammad Ali, it is necessary that we revisit the Champ’s recipe for life and the many lessons he taught over the years. If we take a few cups of his courage, a tablespoon of patience, a teaspoon of kindness, a pinch of concern and mix it with willingness and action, we too can create the change we envision for our nation. Rather than remembering ‘The Champ's Legacy', we could continue building that legacy and spreading his recipe for life to every deserving person, just as he wished. Click to Post

Derek Anderson's Stamina Basketball Camp- Getting Back To Basics
Charron Elliott: Louisville, KY Stop Dribbling and Stop Traveling Have you ever been to your local YMCA for a game of pickup basketball? Well even if you haven't you are probably are familiar with stories of the older men in the gym with the goggles who probably look out of shape, yet still gets buckets often times on the simplest of plays (ball fake, layup, bank shot, jab step). You probably wonder why that is, more than likely it's because someone probably taught them the fundamentals of basketball and on top of that they know they aren't as athletic as they used to be anymore so they rely more on outsmarting their opponents. What I learned from former NBA Champion and Kentucky Wildcats' basketball legend, Derek Anderson, yesterday is simple basketball is all mental. "These players today are always looking to dribble..No one uses the ball fake or jab step anymore," said Anderson about the new era of basketball. He believes that is all due to lack of coaching and players being allowed to freestyle on the offensive end, looking for the next great Sports Center clip.
DA, through his Stamina Basketball Foundation is focused on teaching kids the fundamentals as well as being better prepared for the game mentally. "I'm going to coach one day but I have to get these players back to smart basketball first! We have players that travel more than airlines," said Anderson on today's game. As someone who covers the NBA and watches a ton of basketball, I couldn't agree more that players get away with a lot of traveling violations now more than ever. With that being said his basketball camps are starting as early as June 12th and would be a great way for young players to get the basketball knowledge they need to get ahead of the competition. Below are Some of the highlights from Analyzed Sports' time with the Stamina Basketball Foundation yesterday. https://www.instagram.com/p/BUnAn2nhw3k/ Click to Post
