THIS IS A CALL TO ACTION. Censorship affects all of us, and if Project 2025 gets its way, the entire trans publishing industry is at a significant risk of criminalization. In this article, I lay out the problem and the stakes, and suggest a broad action plan with dozens of potential response ✊

To the people in the OTW Tumblr Inbox asking about how the OTW is responding to the American Election.
This is a separate post (and not a response to a specific message) because we all need to see it.
Folks have been asking Support (through the form) as well as the other social media mods, and we have now been given the following to tell you.
We are continuing to closely monitor political developments that may affect AO3 and the OTW as a whole. First, we want to assure you that there are several factors that tend to protect AO3 and its users from legal risks and challenges. These include that we are a non-profit, do not host images, do not use algorithms to promote or advertise content to users, are not aimed at children, and collect very little user data. The results of the 2024 U.S. election are deeply concerning, but the OTW remains committed to providing an inclusive space for fannish expression and will continue to fight for fans' free expression, both in court and through legislative efforts, in the U.S. and worldwide. We have seen that fans are a powerful force for promoting free expression, and we will continue to inform people about opportunities for their voices to be heard. If a bill is likely to be passed in the future that could impact our ability to provide services, our legal team will be prepared to offer updates, guidance, and legal support to our users. Fans are not alone in this fight. Both the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) (https://www.aclu.org/news/civil-liberties/the-aclu-is-fighting-back-against-trump ) and the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) (https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2024/11/2024-us-election-over-eff-ready-whats-next ) made preparations for this outcome and have developed strategies to combat anticipated efforts to curtail online freedoms. We urge our users to support these organizations and others as they fight for your rights and ours.

Hey nerds,
Are you a fan of animation? Are you an artist that works in the animation industry (or at least wants to… one of these days)? Do you just enjoy silly cartoons? Or maybe you don’t care about cartoons, but you believe strongly in workers rights and fair wages!
Well the people who make your favorite cartoons, anime, and animated shows and movies are fighting for the future of this industry. We are facing a lot of challenges right now job creep, low wages, the ever looming threat of artists being replaced by AI to create worse animation for the sake of generating content to make lots of money for very rich people while real human artists live paycheck to paycheck and struggle to pay rent and feed their families…
But you can help! By signing this petition to show your support for animation workers in the US

spare thought for the enslaved shepherds in greek mythology/tragedy who rescue the exposed doom babies... sometimes they know why the baby was left to die, sometimes they don't. they just — it's a baby. no one else wants it. you can't leave it here. what harm could it do. it's a baby. you want it to live. it's a baby

Nagito giving Hajime shit for not having a talent and Hajime trying to gaslight him into thinking Luck isn't a talent.
Nagito: A lowly non talented person like yourself should stay quiet here, Hajime.
Hajime: At least I'm not trying to fake a talent.
This has the unintentional affect of giving Makoto an existential crisis after hearing them.

ok this is insane but like.. the new tumblrinas are more acclimated to the culture than some normal users. i mean it. like every single reddit refugee post has an INSANELY CLOSE like to reblog ratio and there all mutualing each other and sending each other asks and dms. like wtf. how are you better at this.
in all seriousness i think its because we welcomed them with such feral delight. like every single tumblr user individually saw the reddit refugees and were like "ok listen. we love you honey and hope you're feeling good and here are the instructions" and they did SO MUCH MORE THAN WE THOUGHT THEY WOULD!!! AND NOW ALL OF THEM ARE LIKE HAVING SO MUCH FUN AND IM SO HAPPY FOR THEM!!!!
and also not to keep going but i adore how everyone is so so emotional about this. like every single reddit refugee is like "oh my god why are you so nicee i havent felt this happy in years holy fuckkk..." and were all like "its ok!!! im so glad you are having fun you are doing such a good job yknow? youre perfect at this!!" anyways if YOURE a reddit refugee lets be mutuals

Hello, friends of tumblr
I am looking to actively build my list of mutuals, rather than just followers, most of which are bots, anyway. My objective here is to spread not only the content of my blog, which consists of simple aesthetic imagery derived from themes such as sadcore, nostalgia, liminality, vaporwave, and synthwave, to name a few - most being reblogs, as my thought is to help promote the work of others and credit them in order to also allow their blogs to find new pairs of eyes and ears to reach.
But my other goal in mind is to spread human love and compassion for one another, establish and build bonds with those I follow by inviting them to follow me back.
Let's not isolate. Let's be friends. Let's be here for one another as resources for the various things we specialize in. The world is afrightening and overwhelming, but we will face it together, hand in hand, and we will overcome. We will serve as the gentle brightness in the void, beacons of hope for one another, and for others.
Love will always be the answer. 🤍🩷❤️🧡💛💚🩵💙💜

My beef with the premise behind "The Purge" is that it's not laws stopping people from killing each other in the streets - it's kinda just the default human experience to not want to hurt anyone. We succeeded as a species because we're generally decent at getting along with each other. The average, well-adjusted human has no desire to inflict undeserved harm.
We do, however, hate rules, so we'd probably still get a little wild in less harmful ways.
No "none," you're a hardened criminal now. Please feel free to share more details of your heinous (victimless) acts in comments or tags 😎

Round 2: Match 9
"Two Sides of the Same Coin"- Two things that are regarded as part of the same thing. Even if they're very different, they have at least one common thread that helps them fit into this trope.
Propaganda (under the cut):
Hajime Hinata and Nagito Komaeda:
"Both of them grew up talentless in a society where talent is basically everything, where the prestigious Hope’s Peak Academy believed and enforced that if you don’t have a talent then you won’t ever really amount to anything or live a fulfilling life.
The difference between is that Nagito accepted his place as a “stepping stone” for people with talent, viewing himself as worthless unless used as a tool, while Hajime tried to get into Hope’s Peak Academy and discover a talent so he could be confident in his future, taking drastic measures (signing up for an experimental project that ended up erasing his entire personality) to become something more. the parallels between them make me unwell"
Stanley Pines and Bill Cipher:
"They're both conmen voiced by the show's creator Alex Hirsch, but while Stan is just a shyster who spent his life selling vacuums, going to prison in Colombia, and impersonazing his twin brother for 30 years, Bill is a demon who makes deals with people.
Bill throughout the show tricks people into making deals with him that they often regret. He makes a deal with all 4 of the Pines' family members, but only Stan was the one to trick and out-con Bill, which leads to both their demise (Stan got better).
In his last moments, Bill invokes "AXOLOTL", the "ancient powers" so that he may return. In the choose your own adventure book, it turns out that the Axolotl is a giant cosmic being, that made a deal with Bill. It says,
"If he wants to shirk the blame, He'll have to invoke my name. One way to absolve his crime. A different form, a different time."
This lead to a lot of speculation, but one of the most popular theories is called "Same Coin" theory. It says that Bill was reincarnated non-linear into the past as Stan, which explains them having the same voice actor, (tho so do other characters), both of them being conmen, Stan "redeeming" himself by defeating Bill, and why Stan's memory returned so quickly after being mind-wiped to kill Bill."
