Another story premise I'll probably never do anything with

I don't have the slightest idea of a plot for this. The setting is quite loose at the edges. Its really just an interesting idea. The story involves a prestigious order of monster hunters. From the very beginning of their training, they are introduced to the three essential tenets of what makes a monster.

A monster is dangerous.

A monster is intelligent.

A monster is evil.

Something dangerous and intelligent but not wholly evil is considered a Stranger. If it is dangerous and evil but not intelligent, it is a Beast. Something intelligent and evil is hardly ever not dangerous.

And yes. Under these criteria, a man can very easily be a monster.
