✯ “No no I didn’t miss you that much- it’s not the reason I ran out in my socks as soon as I saw ya an’ spent only a few hours at the window each day-” [he leans in a bit closer just enough to give mason’s nose a nuzzle with his own] ✯ “..Though it was still an awful lot,” [soon after he places mason down, grabbing the handle of the suitcase in one hand and mason’s hand in the other] ✯ “Well then lets not delay any longer!! What’ya wanna eat? I’ll make it right now while ya get some rest- Ya gotta remember Minnesota is the new California, so it’s gonna be all better here,”  [he practically pulls mason into the house- like he even has to]

     ⁞ ❝ ethan. ❞ [ long dramatic pause ] [ he stares at him for a very long time ]

     ⁞ ❝ don’t... ever say that again. to compare yourself to... THAT. don’t LOWER yourself. ❞ [ ok he’s just joking but his tone is so stern ]

     ⁞ ❝ you missed me THAT much? were you waitin’ in that window for 2 weeks straight? did you eat? sleep? drink water? ❞ [ he hoped ethan took care of himself while he was away ]

     ⁞ ❝ that business trip was MISERABLE! i thought california was supposed to be fun--instead it was hot and dry and i was cooped up in a meetin’ room all damn day. i need food. like, good, fattenin’, greasy food--not that californian kale shit that was all over the place. though i gotta say, in n’out was good-- ❞
