I feel that. Some people draw the character just because it's an existing easy to draw character they know by that name. But I've done my best to not conflate the two. The poor kid's nickname in school was pepperoni. He got made fun of by police arresting him for being named Luigi, they shouted "it's-a me, Mario!" at him. He's probably been the butt of a lot of racist jokes his whole life. I don't blame people for buying the character Luigis hat as a quick way to show solidarity for example because of plausible deniability. Especially if cops are really viewing this as "terrorism" and Nintendo products are just plausibly unrelated enough to get someone off the hook.

But do remember he's not "omggg the real life Luigi from the video game" he's literally facing the potential death penalty. Be nice to him... Even if you call him pepperoni.

I know this is a semi-old image but as someone with back issues this is just cruel. I’m almost 23 and I have bladder incontinence due to my spinal issues. Spinal disorders cause urinary ‘full signals’ to be sent less, and nerve damage to the bladder nerves causes less sensation until it’s too late. I have had friends who were protesting and were jailed before and were denied the toilet until they were about to pee themselves. So the fact that he has spinal issues and the police likely denied him toilet access until he lost bladder control is infuriating. Yay for police brutality I guess… taking a photo as well just to humiliate him is so insane.
