THIS IS SO GOOD
The Way Life Goes (2)
She thic and she important. Feel free to leave part 3 prompts or theories in my ask box. As always, enjoy...
TW: substance abuse
“Have you seen Amelia?” Was the first thing the general surgeon asked Link at the beginning of the work week on Monday. Link shrugged, pushing his overgrown shaggy hair out of his face and tugging his Ipad aggressively out of the charger.
“Nope.” He popped the ‘p’. Meredith eyed him in a way that made him uncomfortable enough to continue. “Scout and I have been crashing at Jo’s since Friday. I’d assume she’s at my apartment.” He didn’t get very far before Meredith stepped in front of him.
“Look, as irritating as it is, the minute shit is going down in her life she’s at my house in seconds. She didn’t come to the after party and hasn’t shown up for her shift yet today. I really doubt she’s just hanging out in your apartment.” She crossed her arms, looking somewhat terrifying, despite the fact that he loomed over her.
“I can't talk right now, I have surgery.” He replied, pushing back any fears of where she might be and focusing on the chart in front of him.
“She rejects your proposal and now you’re just done? What happened to you guys?” Link’s jaw tightened so hard you could hear the sound of his teeth clashing.
“She doesn’t want to be with me. It’s as simple as that.”
“I don’t think she doesn’t want to be with you. She just obviously isn’t ready to get married. And I think you knew that.”
“Whatever, Meredith.” Link’s throat was tight as he pushed past her, swallowing down his guilt.
She had somehow found herself to Link's apartment in a daze, praying he wasn’t there as she pushed through the door. He wasn’t. She grabbed some clean clothes and more cash before leaving once again.
It was somewhat exhilarating, living on the edge. Chasing high after high and making sure that the timing is perfect to prevent any meaningful thoughts from actually surfacing. So far she'd been excelling at it. However, it was when she was halfway back that she realized she had fucked up. Anger and self hatred hit her like a ton of bricks and she almost staggered back. The high had worn off and her mind had started to scream. You are so weak. Back here again after you promised the last time was the end. So many promises, she thought. So many empty promises that she’d broken time and time again. The promise that she’d made to be a good mother. Failed, again. Why should she even attempt to pick up the broken pieces after she found herself back to square one each time? Why not stop trying to fix it and just accept herself for who she truly is, an addict? Why keep disappointing the people that care about her over and over? There was no point. Not anymore. Scout’s name was blaring in her mind like an alarm. He’s better out without you. She convinced herself. Don’t let yourself ruin him. You destroy everything you touch.
“Amelia.” Camilla was looking at her weird. She tried to focus on her new friend, attempting to calm her shaking hands. “Wait too long?” She asked, digging into her bag. All Amelia could do was nod and pull out the cash. “This one’s on me.” Camilla placed a reassuring hand on Amelia’s shoulder as she rolled up her sleeve. She paused, with bated breath, until the image of Scout faded from her mind.
“Can you hear me?” Meredith practically yelled into the crackling phone. “I’m sorry, I know this is your honeymoon. I just still haven’t heard from her and you know her better than me so I need you to tell me what I should do.”
“Is this about Amelia?” Maggie’s groggy voice asked into the speakerphone. “You still haven’t heard from her?”
“I wouldn’t have called if I hadn't. I’m worried about her.” She could practically hear Maggie’s hesitation. “Don’t come back. Don’t even offer that.”
“She’s been having a rough time,” Maggie sighed. “Richard doesn’t let on too much but I know COVID has been hard on her. Link has good intentions. He just hasn’t ever had to see her at her lowest.”
“You think she’s using?” Meredith’s voice was hushed as she passed her Ipad to a nurse and thanked her quietly before letting herself into her office.
“I mean if I rejected a proposal from a man who meant a lot to me because I wasn’t ready I’d probably down a bottle of wine out of guilt." Maggie smiled bitterly.
“She’s stayed sober through a lot worse,” Meredith countered, glancing up to find Bailey waiting at the door with an expression she knew too well. “Hey, I’ve got to go. Tell Winston I say hi.”
“I will. Talk to you later.” Meredith placed her cell phone in her scrub pocket before meeting an irritated Bailey at the door.
“Where’s Shepherd?” Meredith knew what she was going to say before she even spoke the words. She bit the inside of her cheek, not knowing how to respond.
“Why?” She asked, receiving an eyebrow raise.
“Because she’s got a gliosarcoma in an hour and she hasn’t clocked in,” Bailey stated, fixing her lab coat and giving Meredith an exasperated look. “Look, whatever drama she and Doctor Lincoln are having, I don’t care. She can show up to work.”
“I don’t know where she is,” Meredith responded. “I honestly have no idea.”
“Wha--” Bailey started. She let out a grunt of disapproval before waving an agitated hand in the air and storming off. Meredith bit the nail on her thumb, sending yet another message to the missing neurosurgeon and wondered guiltily, for a moment, why she was so self destructive.
Link spent a lot of time in the ER compared to his colleagues. Compared to most other specialties, the majority of cases that presented themselves in the emergency room were ortho related. Most of the time it was pretty mundane, whether it be a broken ankle or a dislocated shoulder, but to keep the hospital from impending lawsuits, he was usually needed to supervise the interns, who were prowling in the ER looking for cases and trying to pop limbs back into place or reset joints, thinking they could handle it easily on their own.
As a result of this, Link was already in the OR when the trauma came in. He was sitting in the swivel chair behind the desk, dragging his feet across the floor to propel him side to side. He wasn’t paged so he was unfazed by the ambulance pulling up. Then again, he wasn’t really fazed by much these days after falling into a somewhat self deprecating state. He stared at the clock, hoping he’d be let off early.
“Did you hear about this?” Bailey asked Richard, as she secured her gown around herself and handed him a pair of gloves.
“Yeah,” Richard’s voice was a tone that Link couldn’t quite decipher. “Bunch of overdoses at Quilchena, saw it on the news in the lounge. Must’ve been something laced in whatever they all were doing.” He snapped his gloves aggressively over his hands as if he were mad at something. “This kind of thing has been happening all the time because of COVID. Addicts have been struggling during the pandemic. Never seen meetings so full.” Link found himself wondering if he was talking about Amelia. Bailey nodded to Richard sympathetically ask they rushed to meet the gurney’s being pushed into the ER.
“John Doe,” the paramedic announced. “Got naloxone at the scene, friend administered it. Conscious but having trouble breathing.”
“Page cardio,” Bailey ordered to a resident. Link watched curiously as Richard froze in place.
“Jane Doe,” the paramedic continued. “Unconscious but breathing. She--”
“Put her in trauma one,” Richard ordered firmly. Link wished he could see what was going on as he watched the blood drain from Bailey’s face. “Don’t let anyone see her. She wouldn’t want that.” It clicked in Link’s brain at that very moment when the pair of them turned to look his way. He got out of the chair he was in so fast that it clattered to the ground behind him.
Her face was so pale it was practically grey and her arms and lips were tinted a purpley blue. She looked so slender he felt like one could reach out and just snap her in half. Her expression was almost peaceful though, and that’s what haunted him most. The image of her was burned into his mind immediately and he knew, as they wheeled her away, that it would never be forgotten.
As Bailey and Richard steered her gurney away he felt frozen in place before finally, and without any indication from his mind, his feet began to follow them.
“She’s seizing,” Bailey exclaimed, her hands flying up to either side of her head to avoid holding any of her limbs in place. “Where the hell is trauma?” Link watched as she twitched, bile building up in the back of his throat. He felt slightly dizzy. He’d never been one to get queasy, even in med school while the rest of his peers either fainted or threw up during their first time observing in an OR. That’s when he knew he wanted to become a surgeon. He wasn’t sure if it was his ego telling him that he was superior for being the last one standing or the tiny and quick glance of approval the attending gave him before going back to ignoring him completely. Though, there must be something different about seeing someone he loved in this situation because he had to place a hand on the doorway to steady himself and looked away. Teddy came through the doors at that moment, brushing past him as if he didn’t exist. For a reason he couldn't quite explain let out a breath of relief that it wasn’t Owen. Something in his mind was screaming your fault, your fault, your fault. And selfishly, he hoped that Meredith, or really anyone who cared for Amelia half as much as he did, wasn’t at the hospital, and theorized that she’d probably beat him to a pulp.
“Can I help?” He found himself croaking, receiving only a glance from Richard.
“Absolutely not,” the general surgeon replied firmly, before finally getting Amelia connected to the monitor. Everyone in the room kind of paused for a moment, reading the levels and unanimously thinking to themselves silently, fuck.
“She’s coding,” Teddy proclaimed, as the alarm-like sound began to reveal itself. Link’s heart sank and he reached out to grab her hand, ignoring Richard’s orders for him to leave. Her palm was cold like ice, but not the dead kind of cold. Cold as if she’d just run in and out of the water, grinning and calling to him as if the ocean’s touch had electrified her, sending a rush of serotonin through her veins. Link remembers that look from when they’d gone down to California, for a conference that she was speaking at, like it were yesterday. She’d convinced him to go swimming, despite it being mid February, and had explained that diving into the frigid waves replicated the feeling of euphoria she used to get when a really good high would hit her full force. She’d told him about how she would swim a lot when she was first getting sober, craving the way the world felt like it was on pause and the way that silence filled her ears when her head was completely underwater. That was really the last time she’d grinned at him like that. Right before Covid had really hit. The first time they’d left Scout for the weekend with his parents. Coming up out of that water like she had been brought back to life.
He’d been so blind. He’d watched her slip into a mindless routine. Go to work. Drive home. Feed the baby. Put the baby to bed. Go to bed. Wake up. Every day, over and over. She would walk around like a ghost, stuck between life and death. He had ignored the way she'd fill her free time with meetings and when she had started going to sleep before he got home, brushed it off as postpartum and told himself that everything between them was fine. Postpartum doesn’t last this long you idiot.
“Clear!” Teddy’s calm voice echoed through the room, snapping him back to reality, and he pulled away his hand last minute before her chest rose and fell. His eyes flicked to the heart monitor, nothing. “Again, charge to three fifty. Clear!” The room fell silent as the compression pads thumped. Nothing. Teddy paused, staring at the monitor.
“Dr. Altman?” The nurse called out. “Again?” Her voice was quiet as the trauma surgeon lifted a hand in response.
“Wait,” her voice had become soft. The monitor beeped as a small peak rose and fell. “Come on, Amelia,” Teddy muttered.
“Charge again,” Bailey ordered.
“Just give her a second,” Teddy pleaded, not taking her eyes off the screen. “She’s fighting.” The trio of doctors stared at the monitor while Link fixated his eyes on his girlfriend and slid his hand into hers once again, interlocking his fingers with hers. Don’t die, don’t die, don’t die. The monitor beeped, and then beeped again, and then again. Link forced himself to look up and watched as the numbers climbed.
“Thank you, god.” Bailey brought a shaking hand to her face before closing her fingers into a fist and pressing it to her forehead. “We are lucky that the lord is looking out for this woman because the people in her life seem to not be.” The comment cut through Link like a knife.
“Bailey, that is not fair!” Richard exclaimed. Link had never heard the man raise his voice with such aggravation, even Bailey winced as she stormed out of the room, throwing her gloves to the side.
“She’s lost a lot of people...and a lot of surgeons,” Richard muttered in apology to him.
“Can she breathe on her own?” Link choked, looking at Teddy, who shifted on her feet.
“She’s weak. I’d like to keep the tube in for a couple of hours at least. See how she does. I’d also like to get neuro down here to give her a check. Let’s get her up to the ICU for now and monitor her closely. She’s stable. Let’s focus on that for now.” Link nodded, not knowing what else to say as Teddy pulled off her gown and tossed it into the bin before practically staggering out of the stuffy room.
“I didn’t know.” Something about the way Richard was looking his way was causing a buildup of defensiveness inside him.
“How?” Richard shook his head with disappointment, massaging his throbbing temple and trying to block out the emphysematous but rhythmic breath sounds coming from the breathing tube. “How, did you just not know?” His colleague was radiating judgment and Richard’s eyes narrowed into tiny slits before his entire body slumped, in no effort to lecture Link about something he should be hearing from Amelia. He looked at his friend, without a trace of condemnation, knowing, so easily, that it could be him in that hospital bed and her where he was standing. “It’s not my place,” he finally stated, tearing his eyes away from Amelia and blinking away any buildup in his tear ducts. He turned to the nurse and thanked her, always polite. “When you take her up can you make it discreet?” He knew the woman had recognized Amelia immediately. “Her reputation is on the line.” The nurse nodded as if she understood. Richard thanked her again before exiting the room.
Richard had ended up telling Meredith, who stopped by to let Link know that she and Hayes would pick up Scout from daycare and take him home with them. Link couldn’t read her expression, it was clouded as if she was undergoing an internal conflict that caused her to wince and look away upon glancing at Amelia. Some of the colour had returned to her cheeks, they looked as if someone had applied too much blush to a pale complexion and were hot to the touch. Teddy had removed the breathing tube about an hour ago. She’d gasped at first, her lungs whistling and wheezing in protest. Enough to make Teddy almost contemplate putting it back in before the breathing had settled.
“You didn’t look for her,” Meredith blurted out, as if she’d been trying to keep the words at bay. The look on her face told him that she regretted saying it almost immediately.
“Neither did you,” he bit back, more aggressively than he would’ve liked. Meredith’s face snapped away from him so quickly it was as if he’d physically hit her.
“If you really loved her. Enough to marry her. Her response shouldn’t have mattered,” her voice was as sharp as a knife. “She loves you and she’s been unfortunate enough to have most of the people she’s loved taken away from her. Do you know how rare it is for Amelia to come to Maggie and I teary eyed because she finally feels safe and loved and not being pressured into anything by the person she loves? " Meredith took a step back as if she didn't want to continue but couldn't help herself. "Amelia is a runner. She breaks under the expectations that the people that she loves have of her and she functions under the fear that the people she loves are going to leave her or die. So if you want to be an ass and make her feel like she isn’t enough for you because she doesn’t feel the need to commemorate her love to you on a stupid peice of paper, I will remove you from my sister’s life.” She was gone before he could even think of a reply and he stared wordlessly at the spot she’d just vacated.
“No,” the voice was so soft he could barely hear it. His head whipped to where she was lying. “No, no, no, no.” Amelia’s eyes were wide and she recoiled as he reached out to touch her. Her heart monitor climbed and he pulled back his hand. She was looking at him in a way that made his skin crawl. He realized, then, that she was looking at him in fear. She looked scared. It shocked him how quickly everything had fallen apart. How quickly he’d gone from someone she’d loved to someone she felt as though she barely knew. But it wasn’t really that quickly, a part of him was whispering over his shoulder. You just didn’t want to accept it.
“Hey.” The words sounded stupid as soon as they left his mouth. “It’s okay. You’re okay.” He found himself wondering what had happened to her over the last couple of days, the bruises scattered along her arms had become more evident as colour had returned to her skin. She gagged suddenly, moaning in a way that made him sick and he slid a kidney dish under her just in time. There didn’t seem to be much in her stomach so it was mostly dry heaving. Her heart monitor climbed every time he tried to touch her and he gave up on trying to hold back her hair.
“She’s awake?” Teddy stood in the doorway. Amelia looked up at her blankly before laying her head back against the hospital bed and staring up at the ceiling. The shame in her eyes were evident. Link nodded to Teddy, who gave him a somewhat genuine smile. “I’ll just do a quick vitals check.”
“No,” Amelia moaned, the pain in her voice causing Teddy to stop in her tracks. “I just want to go home. Let me go home.”
“You’re not going to go home though, are you?” Link glanced up to find Richard standing at the foot of the hospital bed, arms crossed. His stern expression was slightly wavering. Link wondered how hard it was for him to even be within two meters of her.
“Shut the fuck up,” Amelia spat, pulling her IV out of her wrist and throwing it across the room hard enough that the machine screeched against the concrete floor. Link grimaced as the IV site began to bleed. The sudden bout of energy seemed to exhaust her as she collapsed back onto the bed.
“We’re good for now, Doctor Altman,” Richard said softly, not wanting to watch as his coworker, and friend, incriminated herself in front of someone she’d regret. “You can go home with Maggie or I can check you into a rehab clinic, the choice is yours.” Link’s eyes fell to the floor, his face burning at the idea that he couldn’t be trusted to take care of her.
“Maggie’s on her honeymoon,” Amelia mumbled, the anger dying out in her eyes as she realized what his response would be before he even spoke it.
“I called her,” Richard confirmed her prediction. “Meredith is taking care of Scout and I shouldn’t even be in the same room as you.” Hot tears spilled down Amelia’s cheeks as she glared at him. You ruin everything. The voice in her head had been telling her over and over since she’d woken up.
“Rehab. I choose rehab. Call her and tell her not to come.” Maggie had arrived at the hospital an hour ago but Link decided to keep his mouth shut.
“Fine,” Richard sighed. “I’ll call right now.” He stepped outside where his daughter was waiting anxiously and placed both hands on her shoulders trying to calm her down.
“I need to go in and see her,” Maggie’s breathing was asynchronous, she held her shaky hands into her chest, trying to look into her sister’s hospital room.
“Don’t,” Richard warned. “She’s not herself right now. I shouldn’t have called and stressed you out. She chose rehab.” He watched as her face twisted in confusion.
“What? That’s ridiculous.” Maggie shook her head in disbelief. “Let me take her home.”
“I wasn’t expecting her to be this bad. It’s too much responsibility to put on anyone. I...I just don’t think it would be a good idea, Maggie.” He pulled her into a hug as she started to sob.
“Link, is he…” she trailed off as she buried her face into her biological father’s scrub top.
“It’s not anyone’s fault,” Richard sighed. “But out of everyone, he’s the last person that should be taking care of her right now.” Maggie nodded, cursing herself for not doing more as she had watched Amelia change over the last couple of months. “Has she mentioned anything about her friend Charlotte? She needs an ally, someone who understands how her brain works. I know how much you care about her, Maggie, but you can’t help her the way she really needs in a couple of days when the realization of what she’s done has hit.”
“Charlotte, the one in L.A.? I’ve talked to her a couple times, never really for too long, just over FaceTime when Amelia used to call her while living at Meredith’s.”
“Amelia brought her up a lot at meetings,” Richard bit the inside of his lip, hoping that he was making the right decision. “I think we need to call Charlotte. I think that she knows Amelia on a level that not any of us in Seattle can really understand.”
“Okay,” Maggie nodded, pushing her own feelings aside. “Get St. Ambrose Hospital in Los Angeles on the phone,” she loudly ordered to the intern, sitting at the nurses station, who had been just out of earshot, “And tell them I need to speak to Doctor Charlotte King.”

MY HEART😭😭😭😭
Can you write an angsty fic of Amelia right after like going home to scout ?
WORDS DON'T COME EASILY.
a/n: i don't really know what this is, v sorry.
"I hope daddy doesn't hate me... 'cause I love him.. a lot."
Her voice was soft as she held Scout tightly in her arms, the elevator moving up at a snails pace as she waited for it to get to floor two. She hadn't stayed at the wedding, luckily Scout had started crying and wouldn't stop and so before anyone could question her red-rimmed eyes and where Link was, she got Hayes to drive her home, and since the two didn't know each other? Luckily he didn't ask any questions.
Now here they were, and as the elevator doors opened, Amelia felt her stomach twist into a bigger knot than it had been when Link had asked her to marry him. Forcing a smile politely at one of the neighbors she passed, the neurosurgeon hummed as Scout began to fuss again and began to dig her keys from her bag. Since she always seemed to lose them, when Link made her a key for the apartment, he also got her one of those annoying keychain fluffs as a joke, but she thought it was sweet so of course, she used it. Finally finding the keychain fluff, she quickly opened the door, the silence of the apartment making her more nervous than she been well thinking of Link being around.
"Da da da da da!" Gasping slightly at the one-year-olds jumble, Amelia sighed at the realization that Link calmed him down best. His tears, snot, and yelling for Link just made her want to cry as well but all she could do was drop the oversized bag on the couch, rocking their one-year-old back and forth, trying to relax him.
"Link! Hey, are you here?" Nothing, silence. Even if he was mad at her, he usually at least gave her some kind of response.
"Link? Are you in the shower or something?" Of course, he wasn't and she knew that but of course, she was wanting so badly for him to say something back. Her already swollen eyes began stinging again at the thought of him leaving and before long her quick footsteps began moving through the apartment, the bedroom being the first place she went. Navy blue sheets they'd cuddled in more than once were settled carefully over the bed since Link had made it that morning before they left.
The room looked perfect except for the closet being open and a few t-shirts missing, in the dresser, a few jeans and boxers as well and that was when her heart sunk. Sitting on the bed where Scout let go of her to crawl around, dada still leaving his lips as well as other grumbles before he gave up and pressed his face into Link's pillow with a whimper.
One glance at their son and the neurosurgeon sighed, pulling her phone from her dress pocket and scrolling for Links contact before she began typing a new message. Look, I know I'm the last person you want to talk to, but are you okay? The text was sent and then she set her phone down and rummaged around in the dirty clothes for one of his shirts. Discarding the dress in the hamper, Amelia pulled it on, a chill raking through her body as she moved to lay on the bed, tugging Scout onto her chest.
"It's okay, baby. Daddy'll be home soon." I hope, but the words weren't spoken as her phone buzzed and she grabbed it to glance at the text.
At Jo's place. Give Scout a kiss from me.
Though she deserved the short response, it still stung, and she felt the familiar weight on her chest she'd been feeling since Meredith had gotten sick.
Alone, she was alone and at the realization, all she could do was press a kiss to Scout's hair.
Done. Link, I love you. This doesn't change anything, I love you more than anyone I know.. I just couldn't say yes, not right now.
Bubbles appeared on the screen again, disappeared, appeared, disappeared, and then appeared one last time.
👍🏻 Left with the thumbs up, she let her phone fall against the sheets, her tears finally beginning to fall as Scout slept soundly on her chest, the smell of Link's aftershave from the other day lulling him, and lulling her too. As if he was her saving grace because he was.
And the sad fact was, she might've lost it all in under an hour. Just because she couldn't use her words to explain how she was feeling.

I saw that you did two stays after the episode, could you write about them meeting, maybe it's because of the scout, I don't know...
EVERY OTHER WEEKEND. a/n: ok even if you don't like country music listen to this song well reading this. BUT.. if you're interested in a part 2 let me know.
We trade a couple words and looks and kids again every other weekend. "How's Jo?"
Voice was quiet though there was some venom in it as she held both of Scout's hands to keep him upwards. He'd been standing for the last couple of weeks but not without help. That was how long it'd been since she'd said no and knowing he was staying with Jo it annoyed her to no end. Jealousy, Meredith had told her but she kept denying it, even if it was true. She'd said no, or she'd more-so said nothing... she had no reason to be jealous.
"Jo is fine. We work opposite shifts. . . it's not like we're sleeping together."
A scoff came from deep in Amelia's throat and she shook her head, helping Scout jump a little as his tiny legs flexed. "Whatever... it'd make sense, you know? You've got Luna together."
This time his eyes rolled as he stood in the parking lot, and at the motion, Scout giggled, grinning a two teeth grin at his dad. "I told you, I was fostering her. Jo has custody, she's not my kid."
"Oh really? 'Cause you seemed all about adopting her when I wanted nothing to do with it. Pretty sure you said something like Then we'll have a daughter!"
Truth be told, in the space that they'd taken apart, Link had realized that maybe he'd jumped the gun and when he talked to Jo he realized that the brunette hadn't been herself for ages, everyone had noticed it but him apparently. He'd been so consumed with making their life better, even though it was fine for Amelia, so at her words, his eyes moved toward the ground.
"I'm sorry... I wasn't thinking.." An apology? For a moment she almost let go of Scout's hands in surprise, but instead, she gripped tighter and nodded her head, "It's okay... but... you stopped checking in, Link. You promised me that you would check in before you asked me."
This time it was his turn to nod, a sigh following as he reached toward Scout to pick him up as the baby reached out. "I saw the ring when I was looking for Christmas presents and then I saw the other ones and, I couldn't get it out of my head. I was going to ask at Christmas but... Owen asked Teddy instead and... I don't know. I just jumped the gun again."
Silence filled them, both growing slightly choked up at the truth before Amelia broke it. "I've been trying so hard these entire eight months, but I'm slipping. You deserve better than that, someone who screws up. I love you too much to ruin this like that." "There's no one better than --"
Taking the heavy diaper bag off her shoulder with the clothes and diapers that Scout would need, she held it out to him with watery eyes. "Please, Link. Not now, okay? I'm tired, I just need to sleep. We can talk again when we switch back over with him."
A curled first wiped at her eyes a little harder than needed as if to keep the tears in before she stepped closer to press a kiss to their baby's head once getting no answer from Link. "I'll see you next week Scoutie... okay? I love you so, so much."
With that, she turned on her heel and quickly walked away, her cheeks warm with tears as she inhaled the last little bit of scent that she'd got from being close to Link, Scout calling out mama in the distance.
This was too hard, she was just ready to go back to normal, to how they'd been.
Yeah, for fifteen minutes, we're a family again. . god I wish that he was still with me again every other weekend...

can you stop with the mean comments about Amelia? Why are you so butt hurt that she turned down his proposal or didnt look at him like wtf?? If you are mature enough to understand the story fully, you can tell that Amelia is clearly having some mental health problems and is struggling with her sobriety and its a FACT that Link did not notice it in the last 8 FUCKING MONTHS. You have this image of how perfect your home boy and is so quick to judge Amelia everytime there is a problem with Amelink. Dont forget how Link threw her addiction in her face in episode 7 and when he promises to do better, he fails her. Big time. You love to look at once perspective and that’s incredibly immature. I dont care if it because you stan Link, just leave Amelia alone especially when you clearly have zero understanding of Amelia’s true character and how Amelink’s relationship was progressively going down the drain this season. istg some people.

could u please write one right after link closes the ring box, like maybe he leaves and amelia is right there at the wedding completely broken idk
enough for you
a/n: I cannot touch link's character right now. so. just amelia here. this is not the fluff you may have been looking for, so if you want something happier just send me an ask for it!
---------------
The bottom of her dress was wet, her legs covered in droplets of water from the waves pushing up the shore. She was sure her arms would be pink in the morning; the sun was almost unbearable, yet she felt frozen in place.
She'd fallen to the ground after he left, pulling her knees up to her chest and reaching her feet out into the water, looking for something to ground her and feel real.
As soon as she saw the boxes, it was like her voice had broken, her body stuck, and her brain stopped. It felt like a nightmare. She couldn't speak but just stare at him, wondering where it had gone wrong. Where they had lost their connection, the line of understanding that held them together through conflict.
At one point, Link was the first person she would confide in. She never feared telling him anything because she knew that it would be met with a strong hug and words of affirmation, how he would always be there, how he loved her, how strong she was. He could read her face and tell what she was feeling and know exactly how to help her.
Except for the past few months, when their mornings were awkward, when they always seemed to get in each other's way, when Amelia was attending more meetings than ever before, and Link didn't seem to notice anything wrong. She waited for him to fall asleep before crawling into bed, spending extra time at work checking on perfectly stable patients, inviting friends over for dinner more nights than not, hoping to fill the house and avoid what was happening between them.
A strong breeze blew past, her hair flying in front of her face. She closed her eyes, willing herself to wake up to where she was months ago, before Luna, before the proposal, when things were the way they were supposed to be when she woke up every day beside the man she loved, smiles on both of their faces as they whispered 'Good morning' to each other.
Meredith walked up behind her, taking a seat in the sand next to her sister. "You know," she started, glancing over at Amelia, "the tide's coming in. You mighty wanna move to avoid getting drenched." Amelia simply shrugged and continued to stare, her eyes tracing over the horizon. Meredith sighed beside her. "Zola told me what happened," she muttered, placing her hand on Amelia's arm.
"He left," Amelia whispered, the wind blowing her hair into her face. "He just left; he stormed off this beach to god-knows-where and left me here." She brushed her hair back, laughing softly as she did so. "He just left. He proposed, even though I thought we were on the same page about this, and he looked so disappointed," she brought her hand up, wiping her eyes. "I thought that it didn't matter if we were married or not, I thought that it didn't matter if we had another kid because we would have each other, but I don't even know if I have him anymore." Another laugh fell from her mouth, and Meredith frowned.
"I was so scared to tell him that I didn't want another kid, or that I don't want to get married, because I was terrified that he would leave. And, he did," Amelia muttered, finally looking over at Meredith.
"I don't think he's really gone, Amelia."
"You should've seen his face, Mer; I've never seen him like that. He looked so," her voice trailed off, her finger drawing lines in the sand beside her.
"What can I do?"
"I don't know. I don't know where to go from here," Amelia whispered, a tear falling from her face as she looked up at the sky. "What am I supposed to do, Mer? Just go home and put Scout to bed like everything's fine? Tell him that Daddy's at work?"
"You can come home with me. I'll help with Scout, and we'll figure everything out together."
"I don't want to figure things out. I want my life back; I want to be happy." She sniffled loudly, biting her bottom lip. "How did this even happen? How did I lose him, is there something wrong with me?" Meredith wrapped her arm around Amelia's shoulder, leaning her head against the neurosurgeon's.
"There is nothing wrong with you, Amelia. Nothing at all," Meredith consoled, rubbing Amelia's shoulder as the woman began to cry, pulling her knees closer to her chest and leaning into Meredith's body. "I promise you that it'll get better. And I'm right here for as long as that takes."

Olympic Medalist
hello! this is a combination of two anonymous prompts I received- (here & here) c: I hope you enjoy!
“Scout, please stop running!” Maggie said as she bent over and placed her hands on her knees, trying to catch her breath. Amelia and Link had asked for her to watch their now three year-old son, who Maggie believed had more energy than all of Seattle combined.
“Scout, you need to put your pants on,” she said as she continued to chase him around the living room. “No pants,” Scout crossed his arms in protest. “I’ll give you ice cream,” Maggie said in a singsongy voice, truly hoping that her bribe would work. Scout thought for a minute, then proceeded to run. “Scout!” Maggie sighed, running after him with his pants in her hands.
The night had gone smoothly until bath time. He had eaten almost all of his dinner and he had barely whined or fussed. He listened when she had told him it was time to get out of the bath. He listened when she had told him to lift his arms up so she could put his pajama shirt on.
But when she tried to get him to step into his underwear and pajama pants, all hell broke loose. She had been on a wild goose chase ever since.
“Scout, it’s almost bed time. You cannot keep running,” Maggie said desperately. “I’ll give you a toy if you let me put your pants on!”
Maggie looked at her watch which read 7:54. Amelia and Link had greatly been trying to get Scout in bed by eight every night in order to get a schedule going, and she really didn’t want to be the one to ruin his schedule.
But, she didn’t know what else to do. He tiny legs could easily outrun her and even when she had been this close to catching him, he would scream extremely loudly in objection. She threw her hands up in the air as she sat down on the couch, watching as Scout continued to make laps around the living room. “How are you still running?” she asked. She was exhausted.
Just an hour later, Amelia and Link arrived home from their date night. The two were definitely not expecting to see a passed out Maggie and a passed out Scout sprawled across the couch when they walked inside.
“Maggie?” Amelia laughed, a confused smile spreading across her face. They slowly walked into the living room and got a closer look at the chaos that happened whilst they were gone. It looked as if a tornado had gone through the living room. There were couch pillows on the floor, chips spilled on the couch, and too many toys spread across the room for them to count.
“What did he do to her?” Link asked. He raised an eyebrow as he looked over at Scout who was, in fact, still pant-less.
Amelia gently tapped Maggie on the shoulder in hopes to wake her up. “Huh? What happened?” Maggie jolted up and looked around the room frantically.
“You tell me,” Amelia chuckled.
“Oh God,” she said, a confused look on her face, “I must’ve fallen asleep.”
“You think?” Link joined Amelia and let out a quiet laugh. “Your child,” Maggie stood up, “does not stop running.”
Amelia gave a soft smile as she rested her head on Link’s shoulder. “He’s going to be an Olympic medalist,” Amelia said, matter-of-factly.
“Where are his pants?” Link asked, pointing to Scout. Maggie let out a heavy sigh. “Don’t get me started,” she said as she walked out the front door. “He’ll sleep good tonight,” Maggie added.
Amelia raised her eyebrows and mouthed the words “thank you” as she shut the door behind Maggie.
She walked back into the living room and wrapped her arms around Link’s torso. “We did good,” Amelia said, looking at Scout then up at Link. “Hell yeah, we did,” Link smiled.
“Mama?” Scout’s little voice asked as he rubbed his tired eyes. “Hi, little one,” Amelia sat down next to him and ran her fingers through his ruffled hair. “How do you feel about sleeping in your big boy bed instead of on this couch?”
Scout reached his arms out in response, and Amelia carefully lifted him up. Link watched as a very tired Scout rested his head in the crook of Amelia’s neck.
Once in Scout’s bedroom, Amelia gently set him in his race-car bed, then gave him a soft kiss on the head. “Sleep tight. We love you,” she said.
Link stepped up as Amelia stepped back, then leaned over and gave Scout a kiss on the head, as well. “Goodnight, little man,” he smiled. Link pulled Scout’s favorite baby blue blanket up to his chin. “Night night,” Scout said as he gave a warm smile in return, then closed his eyes.
Link turned the bedroom light off as he followed Amelia out into the hall. “I love our little Olympic medalist,” he grinned. Amelia wrapped her arms around Link’s neck as she leaned in for a kiss. “He’s definitely a keeper,” she replied.

Hope you’re doing good ☺️☺️ Prompt: Amelia cant sleep through the night bc the baby is kicking too much so the next day at work she’s really tired so everyone notices it but she’s denying it but then she falls asleep and Link goes to be with her and takes her home
Stand By Me
a/n: I'm so sorry this took so long, I had absolutely no ideas for this, and I went a bit off the prompt, but I hope you all enjoy this! also, if you have any requests, please send them! I need some inspiration right now...
-------------------------
Link woke up to the bright light from his girlfriend’s phone next to him in bed. He cringed at the brightness, squinting as his eyes adjusted. “Amelia, what time is it?” He whispered, looking at the darkness of the bedroom.
“Uh, about 3 in the morning.”
“Why aren’t you asleep?” She set her phone down on her stomach.
“He keeps kicking and I can’t settle.” Link sat up in the bed and placed a hand over her stomach. “Did I wake you?”
“No, you’re fine. You should try and sleep, though. We have work in a few hours.”
“I tried. It’s fine, I’m not tired.” She brushed her hand through his hair and made eye contact with him through the little light coming through the window. “Go back to sleep, Link.”
-------------------------
He watched as she struggled to pull on her scrub top, her fingers adjusting the bottom to cover her growing stomach. Link walked over to her, kneeling and tying the shoelaces of her sneakers. “Thanks,” she muttered, stifling a yawn before quickly covering her mouth.
“Do you want to go take a nap? You look exhausted, and I have an hour before surgery.” Amelia walked away, taking a teabag from the tray and placing it into her mug.
“Nah, I’m not tired.” He filled up his coffee, stirring in the sugar.
“You sure? You didn’t sleep last night, and you kind of look like you’re gonna pass out in a second.” She chuckled and walked over to him, placing her hand on his cheek.
“I’m good. I’ll see you later.” After a quick kiss, she waved goodbye and left the lounge with her tea in hand. Link rolled his eyes, amused by his girlfriend’s stubbornness and knowing she’d be fast asleep in a few hours.
-------------------------
“Suture, please.” The nurse handed Amelia the suture, watching as the neurosurgeon began to close the patient on the table. Maggie looked up.
“Are you okay, Amelia?” The brunette furrowed her eyebrows in confusion.
“I’m fine, why?”
“You look really tired and uncomfortable. I can finish here if you want to go rest.” Amelia groaned and looked up.
“Did Link tell you to do this? To check up on me? Because I’m fine, I’m not tired.”
“He didn’t, I was just checking.” She finished the sutures, handing the tools over to the nurse before walking away and pulling off her surgical gown.
“I find that hard to believe,” Amelia muttered while turning on the faucet. “Page me with any updates?”
“I was going to head home, do you want a ride?” Maggie took off her mask and placed it into the disposal bin before joining Amelia at the sink in the scrub room.
“Yes, but not because I’m tired, I’m fine.”
-------------------------
Link sighed as he unlocked the front door, using the key to Meredith’s house that Amelia had recently given him. The further into her pregnancy she got, the less she wanted to get up and walk around or let him in, always complaining about her swollen ankles or the extra weight she was carrying around. Hence his confusion when he walked through the door and saw her standing in the kitchen, wiping down the inside of the oven. “What are you doing?” He questioned, taking off his shoes and glancing at her from down the hallway. She stood up at the sound of her boyfriend’s voice.
“I’m cleaning because there are way too many people living in this house, and it’s a complete mess in here. I don’t think this oven has been cleaned in the past year.” He raised an eyebrow at her before hearing laughs coming from her sisters in the living room. Amelia turned back to the oven to clean as Link walked towards the other women, crossing his arms over his chest and leaning against the doorway. Meredith smiled and took a sip of her drink.
“She’s nesting, and she insisted on cleaning the house. I wasn’t gonna say no, she’s not wrong about how disgusting everything is.” He glanced back into the kitchen, seeing Amelia washing her hands in the sink. “You’re probably going to have to rub her feet later, she was cursing you out before you got here.”
“She was cursing at me?” Meredith nodded.
“Keeps complaining about her feet, how sore her back is, how mad she is at you for being a man,” Maggie said.
“Her exact words were something like, ‘Stupid men and their stupid sperm’ followed by some dramatic sighing.” He scoffed, turning back to her in the kitchen.
“Can I help?” Amelia paused to look at him. “With the cleaning.” She pointed to the sink.
“Dishes.” Link smiled, rolling his sleeves up and walking towards the sink. He busied himself with the dirty dishes, occasionally stopping to watch Amelia as she scrambled around the kitchen. He placed the last plate onto the drying rack, dried his hands, and turned around.
“Let’s head up to bed, Amelia. You look exhausted.”
“No, we have to clean, the baby could get here any day and I don’t want him to come home to a mess,” she murmured, continuing to scrub the countertop.
“You can clean tomorrow, Amelia. Let’s go to bed.” She hesitantly allowed him to guide her upstairs, his hand on the small of her back as he walked behind her. She fell back onto the bed, wrapping her hands around her bump. “You gonna put on pajamas?” Link asked, opening her drawers and pulling out some sweatpants and a t-shirt. She groaned dramatically and sat up, propping herself up with her arms behind her. The brunette pulled down her pants, slipping into the sweatpants he was holding out for her. She replaced her sweater with a Mariner’s t-shirt, one she had stolen from his apartment and worn when he worked night shifts. “You need to sleep, Amelia.”
“Like we’re gonna get any sleep once he’s born. Plus, he keeps kicking me.” Link sat down on the bed beside her and placed a hand on the top of her bump. He moved so his face was hovering over it and he grinned. “What are you doing?”
“Talking to the baby, Meredith said it calmed Bailey down when she was pregnant.” He paused for a moment before beginning to ramble about his day at work while rubbing the underside of her bump. When he finished, he glanced up to see her eyes closed and her chest rising and falling gently with each breath. He smiled, pulling the comforter over her body and laying down next to her, softly whispering, “I love you,” before closing his eyes.

waffle sunday.
a/n: i’ve had one of the worst damn weeks ever and I was laying in bed, crying because it’s only Wednesday and I figured I could at least try writing a little something if I can’t fucking sleep, so here’s a prompt. sorry if it sucks. summary: sort of a little sequel to little talks. i combined a couple prompts from anons: can you write about the breakfast the next morning, all the adults get to know each other, and then amelia, maggie and scout spend some time together. “Amelia, hey. . babe! Wake up, I swear I hear the kids and I think I smell waffles,” usually that would get Amelia to spring out of bed, the thought of the kids cooking by themselves something they’d banned when Bailey had decided to become a fan of fire. This time though? The neurosurgeon was exhausted and all she could do was mumble into her pillow. “Babe, baby. . . I’m serious.”

nostalgia pt 2
sorry this is so bad, i couldn’t exactly put my idea into words so this is kind of sucky, alsooooooo who else cried during the inauguration? i hope everyone’s doing well and staying safe!!!
“I found them.” Amelia panted as she pulled the box from underneath her bed.
“Sweet, the kids have been begging me since last night and all day today.” Link chuckled as he rocked their son to sleep. They were putting him down so they could watch the home movies with the older kids.
“I don’t know where Mer’s videos are, but I have a lot from Derek and I’s childhood. I’m sure the kids will like that.”
“Yeah.” Link agreed as he lowered the baby into his crib. He then walked over and picked up the hefty box and followed his girlfriend down the stairs.
“I found the videos.” Amelia smiled as she jumped on the couch. Causing the kids to silently cheer, aware their baby cousin was asleep.
“Which ones?” Zola asked moving closer to her aunt.
“The ones from when Derek and I were kids. I don’t know where your mom keeps the ones they had.” Amelia confessed as she pulled the girl into her lap.
“Which do you want to start with?” Link asked as he flipped through the DVD case. A couple of years before Derek died their mother converted all the VHS tapes into DVDs for her children to have.
“All of them!” Bailey announced as he jumped on the couch to sit next to his aunt.
“We’d be here all night.” Amelia chuckled, the children didn’t realize how much footage there was. “We should really spread out the content.”
After a bit of debate the kids decided they wanted to watch a video of their father doing his favorite hobby, fishing. Once play was hit, scenery of a lake with trees was put into view, and then the face of an acne filled teenager with curly dark brown hair.
“Is that dad?” Bailey asked shocked.
“Yep. He looked much different way back when.” The young boy nodded in agreement.
The teenage boy casted his fishing line into the waters causing a splash noise. Another boy a couple of inches taller, with dirty blonde hair came into view. Pushing a young girl with badly cut bangs into the lake. Causing both boys to erupt with laughter, the small girl emerged out from the water with a huge pout on her face.
“Is that Sofia’s dad and you?” Zola asked curiously, a bit of shock tainting her voice.
“Yeah that’s Mark, and that’s me.”
“Your hair looks really bad.” Ellis remarked, causing Link to have to stifle his laugh.
“That wasn’t my fault, my sister cut those.”
“Mommy?” Ellis asked, she knew her mom, Amelia, and Maggie were sisters.
“Nope, my sister Lizzie.”
“Who?” The three kids asked in unison.
“My sister, Lizzie. I have three other sisters, not including your mom and Maggie.” Amelia answered slightly confused. She knew Meredith didn’t keep in close contact with her family, but she didn’t realize how much the kids didn’t know.
“Is that Nancy or Kathleen?” Zola asked, as she knew a bit more about the Shepherds, pointing to a tall red-heading girl in the video who helped the young girl out of the water and wrapped her in a towel.
“Oh-uh um, that’s Addison.”
“Who’s Addison?” Bailey asked intrigued as he didn’t recognize the name.
“Wasn’t Addison your brothers e-“ Link began before being abruptly cut off by his girlfriend.
“My brothers friend, all of ours friend. She was very close to the family.”
“Where was mom?” Ellis asked once the video was over, and Link got up to change the disc into the next video.
“Your dad didn’t know your mom yet.” The girls aunt answered.
“Amelia’s prom?” Link asked surprised, reading the writing on the DVD.
“No, no, no, we’re not watching that.” Amelia said abruptly, knowing she was about to cringe if she saw her teenage self.
“Oooh, I think we should.” Link smirked placing the disk into the DVD player.
“Liiiiink, please don’t do this to me.” The neurosurgeon whined, dropping her head back onto the couch.
The video started by Derek opening the door for a tall boy, by the look on his face, the future neurosurgeon was not happy. Nonetheless he invited his sisters date in and such his hand. Awkward small talk was exchanged before Amelia came down the stairs with Addison behind her. She was in an off the shoulders black dress that went just above her knees, and it was tight fitting. The older brother hugged his sister tightly before reluctantly letting her go, and he whispered something inaudible to the boy causing his sister to lightly slap him across the chest, before she left with the boy.
“Who’s that?” Zola asked, as she didn’t realize the boy with Amelia.
“Dylan Robinson.”
“Tell me Amelia, what was the age difference between you two?” Link asked curiously, seeing as the boy looked much older than her.
“Oh shut up.” She rolled her eyes, before her boyfriend looked at her, raising his eyebrow. “He may of been a senior, and I may of been a sophomore.”
“Amelia! Your kidding!”
“God, look at the time.” Amelia said looking down at the time on her phone, it revealing 9:00pm. “We’ve got to go get ready for bed, and then go to sleep, we’ve got a lot of school work tomorrow.”
An eruption of boos and sighs came from the children. The kids asking for one more video, but the adults shutting it down and promising they’d watch more tomorrow. Once the adults had finished up the kids routines, put them to bed, and checked on their son, they then got comfortable in bed beside one another.
“Did you really go to prom with someone three years older than you?” Link asked wrapping his arm around his girlfriend, and nestling his nose in her neck.
“He was four years older than me, he was held back a year.” Amelia smirked.
“Have you always been into older guys?”
“Hey, I’m a couple of months older than you.” Amelia pointed out, slightly offended.
“No not me, I’m talking about Major Hunt.”
“Oh shut up.” Amelia giggled, taking the pillow from behind her and slapping him with it.
“It was a genuine question.” The ortho surgeon held up his hands defensively.
Amelia demeanor than changed before she began talking again. “He was my first drug dealer, he didn’t have anyone to go with. He said he’d give me drugs for free for a couple of months if I went with him.”
“I’m sorry.” Link’s expression grew softer as he opened his arms for his girlfriend to lean against his chest.
“It’s my own fault. I took the drugs.”
“He enabled you though.” Amelia shrugged her shoulders before, she went in to kiss her boyfriend.” I love you.” The neurosurgeon sighed contently once her boyfriend broke away from the kiss.
“I love you more.”
“Is that right?” Link asked as he pushed his girlfriend back onto the bed and hovered over her. “I’ll show you how much more I love you.”

Hello there, Happy New Year !!! Thank you for writing all these amazing fics ! Could you please write an Amelink fic (early stage of their relationship) where they are supposed to go on a proper date, Link is being stuck at the hospital and Amelia thinks that he stands her up. It will end up with pizza and donuts :) Thakn you !!!!
Chocolates, Pepperoni & Sprinkles -  Amelink
Happy New Year to you anon (even though I’m like 20 days too late). Also thank you for calling my fics amazing, you’re very sweet! I’ve been struggling to write the past few days but I think I did okay enough with this particular prompt. Thank you for the prompt...enjoy...
Maggie had her night all planned, with Meredith away with the kids for the weekend and Amelia on a date that would inevitably end with her back at Link’s apartment, she had the house to herself which meant she was going to lay on the couch with wine, chocolate, and the book she kept claiming that she’d get around to. It was going to be the sort of peaceful Friday night she’d be craving for weeks and for the most part it was until Amelia walked into the house not even an hour after leaving for her date looking as though she could burst into tears at any moment. If it was Meredith Maggie would’ve instinctively stood and returned with a second class of wine but all she could do in way of comfort for Amelia was lift the few chocolates she had left in the box and offer to listen “I didn’t think you’d be back till much later”
“Neither did I” Amelia replied in a defeated tone as she scanned the remnants of her sister’s box of chocolates and bit her lip to avoid the lack of truffles being the thing that set off the waterworks. She grabbed two coconut chocolates and sat down on the couch next to Maggie, not caring as much about whether or not the skirt of her dress crinkled as she had earlier “I left after eating my starter”
“Really? It was that bad of a date?” Maggie asked curiously. Maggie herself had been on quite a lot of bad dates in the past, ranging from guys who texted throughout dinner to one who’d blatantly spent the movie flirting with the girl beside them, but she’d always been too polite to leave. She was really struggling to come up with things that Link had done that would make Amelia leave the date so early, especially given Amelia’s significant feelings for the man. Maggie had sat on the end of Amelia’s bed as she’d gotten ready and had been envious listening to how intense the feelings Amelia held for Link were, Maggie was certain she’d never felt as much for someone else before not even the man she was previously engaged to.
“There wasn’t a date” Amelia admitted, reaching forward for another chocolate, and glaring at the orange crunch chocolate as if it had offended her before popping it into her mouth. She still fully decided if she was saddened or angered by Link’s absences from the date, but she was glad that she had Maggie there to help her figure it out “He never showed up, no text or call or anything either. I just sat at the table for two waiting. One of the waiters took pity on me and dropped off a chicken Caesar salad, I think he was trying to make me look a little less pathetic. The lonely girl at a table for two probably isn’t the best look for a fancy restaurant”
“I will kill Link when I see him tomorrow” Maggie stated, folding her arms across her chest. Amelia cracked a small smile at her sister’s words, although Maggie was probably one of the least intimidating people she knew, Amelia was smart enough to know that getting on the woman’s bad side was not a smart plan.
“Maybe don’t do that just yet” Amelia chuckled, although she was hurt, she still couldn’t let go of the hope that Link had a really good reason for standing her up. He seemed like too nice of a guy just to stand her up without reason “I think I’m going to wait and see what happens next before letting you kill him”
“Okay but my offer still stands” Maggie joked, surprised that Amelia was being so optimistic about the whole situation “For now though, why don’t you put on some pajamas and we can watch a movie together? I’m sure I have some nicer chocolates somewhere”
-
“I’ll get it” Amelia whispered upon hearing a gentle knock on the door. Maggie who was half asleep on the couch only murmured a response before stretching out on the couch after Amelia stood up, letting her bleary eyes drift away from the movie that was still playing on the screen. Amelia only smiled, grabbing a blanket from one of the armchairs and throwing it over her sister quickly before answering the door, knowing by the time she returned that Maggie would be sound asleep. Amelia pulled her robe closer around her upon spotting Link through the glass of the door, she couldn’t help but stare confusedly at the boxes in his hand as she unlocked the door.
“I am so sorry, I was just coming out of surgery and heading to get ready when Bailey pulled me into another one. I tried to explain that I had to text you, but the guy was in pretty bad shape and couldn’t wait for me to go and make a call” Link explained quickly, not giving Amelia the chance to greet him. Her hand fell from their resting place on her hips, feeling as though his explanation was something, she couldn’t necessarily be mad about “I probably should’ve just texted or called after the surgery, but I was sure you would’ve ignored it, so I picked up some things to make it up to you and rushed over”
“What did you get?” Amelia asked, she could easily identify the pizza box from one of the takeout places they often ordered from, but it was the box wrapped in plastic resting upon it that she was struggling with. Link raised her eyebrows at her, slightly baffled by her acceptance of his reason for standing her up. He knew that he should’ve tried to get somebody to go to his locker and retrieve his phone to text her or found some way to deliver a message to her but when he’d seen the guy he was going to be operating on, his mind went blank on anything other than his surgical plan.
“Pepperoni Pizza with extra cheese” he replied with a smile “And doughnuts, I wanted to get them from that bakery that you like but seeing as it’s 11PM, it was closed so they are gas station doughnuts”
“Do they at least have sprinkles?” Amelia asked hopefully, holding her arms out to take the boxes from him when he nodded. It was kind of the perfect way of making it up to her, especially given the fact that he’d gone with her preferences for the pizza and doughnuts rather than his own like some people probably would have “Okay, then you are forgiven for making me wait an hour in a restaurant and can come inside to share these but if you wake Maggie up on the way in, then I will kill you”

love you forever.
a/n:
a request from anon that i think would be really cute as a story!  “ Could you please one about Amelia having trouble breastfeeding or like scout is up all the time at night hungry so Amelia is really tired and not sleeping that much.” i hope you like this anon! i had fun writing it!
“No, god. . make it stoppppp,” voice heavy with sleep Amelia groaned as Scout’s vocals pierced the still air through the baby monitor. The neurosurgeon could cut open brains with a tumor in her own head but she couldn’t seem to blink away sleep to go feed the baby? Reaching out with half-lidded eyes, she did what she could to smack her boyfriend awake but after his impromptu shift, all she got back in return was a grunt.

3 AM
Hey! So im new around here, and lately Ive been reading amelink fanfics, and I got inspired to start writing fanfics again after 2 years. My writing skills are reaaaallly rusty, so I dont know what this is, but I do hope you guys will enjoy it<3
Written in Maggie and Winston’s POV, set shortly after 17x06
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Maggie Pierce’s laughter broke the silence of the deathly stillness of the night in the city of Seattle. It was 3 am, so the streets outside of the house she shared with her sisters, was awfully quiet. Her boyfriend, Winston had just cracked a joke that made her burst into a laughing fit, cracking the serenity of the atmosphere.
“You’re going to wake up the entire neighborhood!”, Winston teased, trying to hold back his own laughter but to no avail. They came from the hotel Maggie was living at temporarily to get some stuff from her room. Since the pandemic was still showing no signs of slowing down, she might have to stay at the hotel longer than expected. She was not complaining though; since Winston’s unexpected arrival, nights in the hotel were not as lonely and depressing as before.
Maggie took in deep breaths to calm herself, and her laughter eventually ceased.
Grinning at her boyfriend, she led the way onto the pavement of Meredith’s house towards the front door. “We’ll be in and out. Don’t make any noise, or you’ll wake up the kids. Amelia will kill us.” Maggie whispered in a serious tone.
“Oh, so now you want to be quiet?”
Maggie rolled her eyes and lightly slapped his shoulder, feigning annoyance. “You’re the one who made me laugh.” She said as a matter-of-factly, earning a chuckle from Winston.
“Now hushhhh.” Maggie unlocked the door, turning the knob slowly, and carefully pushing the door open. The living room was dark, as expected. It was 3 am, so everyone must be asleep.
Or....not.
A familiar sound of soft giggles floated from the brightly illuminated kitchen. Maggie turned to look over her shoulder at Winston who was arching his eyebrows— a questioning look painted his face. He then frowned his brows and started sniffing the air. “Do you smell that babe?” Maggie took a long wisp of the air, closing her eyes slowly as a sweet-smelling aroma filled her nostrils.
“Is that chocolate?” she whispered, making her way towards the source of the good smell, Winston trailing behind.
Upon entering the kitchen, she gasped. “Since when do you guys bake??” Maggie exclaimed in shocked as the scene in the kitchen unfolded in front of her eyes.
Her sister, Amelia, clad in a yellow apron, with her shoulder-length hair tied up in a messy bun, was spooning what looked like a very creamy, fudge-y chocolate cake into her boyfriend’s mouth. They stood behind the kitchen island, of which the surface was heavily powdered white with flour, occupied with baking trays, milk cartons, pieces of chocolate bars, and several other baking tools Maggie has never seen anyone use in this house.
The couple paused their movements and turned to look at Maggie, whose face was in utter disbelief.
It would have been a rather funny sight, if not for the absurdity of the whole scenario, with the spoon of cake that Amelia was holding in Link’s mouth, their chocolate smudged faces, and their puzzled expressions from being interrupted by Maggie’s dramatic entrance.
“Um... hello to you too,” Amelia said amusingly as she turns her gaze back to Link and finished feeding him the bite of cake. She took a napkin and lightly dabbed away the chocolate smudges on the corners of his mouth, smiling gently up at him before facing Maggie once again.
“What are you doing here?” Amelia let out a small laugh.
“We came to get some stuff from Maggie’s room”, Winston, who had been silently watching the sisters’ comical exchange replied.
Amelia’s eyes snapped towards him in surprise. Her attention had been focused on Maggie that she hadn’t noticed his presence.
Noting her surprised look, Winston realized that this was the first time they met in person. He offered her a smile, placing his hand across his chest and bowed slightly, the new ‘handshake’ in the Covid era. “It’s nice to finally be able to meet the two of you in person.”
Amelia smiled back; a sheepish grin etched across her face. “Likewise.” Her eyes scanned him from top to bottom, making him feel a little self-conscious and awkward. When her eyes met his again, she let out a light chuckle. “Welppp, you’re way hotter in person. It’s a wonder how Maggie could do the whole long-distance thing. I could never.” Winston wasn’t sure whether to laugh or not, so he ended making eye contact with Link.
“It’s true.” Link nodded, swallowing the cake in his mouth. “Here, wanna try some cake?” Link nodded his head towards the cake in front of him. Winston couldn’t help but smile at the easy-going nature of Amelia and Link. Although he didn’t really know them yet, he could tell that they were very warm and light-hearted people.
“Did you guys really bake that yourselves?” Maggie asked, still curious as to how this baking session came about. She rounded the kitchen table, coming to stand in between Amelia and Link, and facing the perfectly round-shaped chocolate fudge cake. She bent down so her eyes were leveled with the top of the cake. “It’s perfect...” she muttered, examining the cake closely.
“Maggie, it that shocking that we can bake?” Amelia asked her sister, pursing her lips in mocked annoyance.
Maggie straightened herself, her eyes still on the cake which looked too good to be true. “I mean, kind of.... but only because you’ve never baked before.”
“It was an impulse decision. We thought of doing something fun and since Bailey’s birthday is coming soon, baking a cake seemed like a good idea.” Amelia explained. “Want some? It’s really good.”
“No thanks”, Maggie replied, shaking her head. “I’d love some but maybe later… when the sun is up. It’s 3 am, why are you guys even baking at this time?” she asked, looking from Amelia to Link.
“The kids are asleep, so we get to do what we want without their strong tiny arms dragging us away for something.” Link told her. “They’re monsters in disguise as cute little humans,” he muttered, before spooning another bite of the cake. Amelia just nodding in agreement.
Maggie moved from between them, rounding the table again to stand next to Winston, “Well then, shouldn’t you guys be getting some sleep?”
“What even is sleep?”, Amelia and Link said flatly together. They locked eyes, amused at their synchronized answer. A small chuckle coming from both sides.
She knew her nieces and nephew can be a lot, and on top of having to care for a new-born, Amelia and Link were sleep-deprived. And yet, they were baking, and laughing at the wee hours in the morning. A-dork-able. Maggie felt a small smile crept onto her face, as she observed how happy her sister was. If she knew Amelia at all, deep down her heart was aching for Meredith and maybe her mind was spiraling with constant fear and worry. And if that was really the case, it didn’t show. At least, not at this moment. All Maggie saw was her bright smile, and loving eyes as she looked up at Link.
With the way they were looking at each other, Maggie now felt like she and Winston were third-wheeling on them. Before they could start kissing or getting all gushy feelings, Maggie turned to Winston, motioning for Winston to follow her to the stairs. “Well, we’re heading upstairs. Enjoy the cake,” she called over her shoulder, but she was certain they weren’t listening to her anymore.
As they tiptoed up the stairs, Winston whispered into her ear, “They look happy.”
“Yeah...” Maggie whispered back, a wide grin slowly forming on her lips. Her mind wandered around, thinking of how happy Amelia was…
“Do you think we’ll ever get on their level?”, Winston’s playful voice interrupted her blissful thoughts.
“Nah, I don’t think so.” She teased.

Thank you! This is awesome🥺🥺
little talks.
a/n:  first off, i want to say thank you to all you guys for your requests! I’ll try to get them out in the next few days. i really didn’t think i would get so many after coming back from such a long leave, but it really lifts my spirits. Also, I want to apologize if my Maggie is a little off in this, I don’t think I’ve written her before but just know that I tried my best. summary: with the news of their sisters declining health keeping them awake, amelia and maggie find themselves catching up like they haven’t been able to do in weeks. Basically just some sister fluff with mention of their men.
Truth be told, since she’d seen Meredith hooked up to the vent, Amelia hadn’t been getting much sleep. Her and Link had tried a gravity blanket, they’d tried sex, he’d even sung to her like he did to Scout from time to time when their son woke up terrified of the world, but nothing seemed to soothe the neurosurgeon. Losing another person would be like breathing air to her, almost impossible but if Meredith died, she couldn’t help but worry how the kids would feel with no parents, just her, Link and Maggie. The thoughts had been swirling night after night, and on that night, she was so close to cracking. Which was why, as Link slept soundly beside her, Amelia carefully pushed the covers back, slid on her slippers and padded out of their shared bedroom.

could you write something about Amelia and Owen being friends again? after she tells Owen about the baby? thank you !
Happier
a/n: hi! sorry for the delay in posting, it’s been a weird week. i hope this is what you were looking for, it’s more of a long-term thing rather than a one moment fic.
------------------------------------------------------------
“Can you see if Amelia can take Leo?” Teddy moved to grab her phone, pulling up Amelia’s contact and sending a quick text.
“She’s not going to want to, Owen. He’s probably gonna get her sick from whatever Allison has.”
“Just ask, okay?” His girlfriend set down the phone before it buzzed. “Is that her?”
“She can take Leo, do you want her to stop by and pick him up?” Owen nodded, shifting the crying baby in his arms. Allison had come down with some bug and taking care of a sick baby was proving to be more work than either of them anticipated. Sure, Leo had gotten fevers when he was young, but even at the youngest Owen had known him, Leo was only six months old. “Okay, she says she’ll be here soon, she just has to put the car seat into Link’s car.”
“Link?”
“Her boyfriend, the one we work with?”
“I know who Link is, but is he gonna be with her and Leo?”
“I mean, probably. Is that an issue? Is Link a psychopath and I’m just not aware of this?” Teddy waited for him to respond, instead just watching as he rocked back and forth with the baby. “Owen?”
“Hm?”
“You’re being weird about Amelia and Link.” He shrugged his shoulders and sat down in the nursery chair. “For the record, I think he’s good for her. She looks really happy, and I know that you two have a lot of history, but you should try to be happy for Amelia.”
“They’re having a baby, her and Link.” The blonde woman raised her eyebrows at him and crossed her arms over her chest.
“Okay, so she’s moving on. Just try to be happy for her, Owen.”
------------------------------------------------------------
“He slept for most of the night. And we had Cheerios for breakfast, so he should be pretty easy for a while.”  Amelia handed over the small bag that he and Teddy had packed for Leo as Link walked up behind her.
“And here’s the little guy,” Link said excitedly, bouncing the boy on his hip. Owen took his son before smiling and rustling his hair.
“Thank you, again.” Amelia smiled.
“Of course. You guys can do it for us one day.” At her words, his eyes drifted down to look at her stomach, where her hand rested on her bump, which was more obvious than before. Silence settled between for a moment before Link wrapped his arm around Amelia’s waist.
“Well, we should probably get going, we have plans for lunch.” The couple said goodbye to Owen and headed back to their car. “That was painfully awkward,” Link commented, backing the car out of the driveway.
“He’s been weird ever since I told him about the baby. I wish that we could all just move on and be friends. I mean, he had a baby with Teddy and I was fine with that, why can’t he just be the same?” Link grabbed her hand over the console of the car.
“You weren’t so fine with it at first. Give him some time, he’ll come around.”
------------------------------------------------------------
Meredith’s hearing took longer than expected. Owen could swear he’d been sitting in the lobby waiting for at least the past 7 hours. Sure, he knew that legal processes took a long time and blah blah, but they’d already finished the hearings and now they were just waiting. Amelia, Link, and Teddy had returned a few minutes ago, sharing the news that Castello had died (something he thought Amelia seemed a little too excited about) and everyone had returned back to what they were doing before that. He sighed, checking his watch, hoping to make time speed up by any rate. Owen stood up and got himself another coffee, turning back around to the couch while taking a sip and sitting back down and engulfing his attention into his phone.
“Hey,” Amelia muttered, sitting on the couch across from him. “I feel completely dead.” Owen looked up and offered her a smile.
“I know. Are you going to stay until they have news?” Amelia nodded, adjusting the pillow behind her back.
“Yeah, Meredith drove me here, anyway. I was thinking about leaving with Link, but Meredith would pester me about it for the next few months, so we’re gonna stay. How about you?”
“Staying.” The two engaged in some small talk for the next few minutes before Link walked over, sitting down next to Amelia on the couch. Owen watched as the brunette smiled up at her boyfriend, and leaned her body against his.
“You look exhausted,” the orthopedic surgeon commented, wrapping an arm around her shoulder. “Do you wanna head out? I’m sure Meredith won’t hate you.”
“No, she’ll just leave me behind whenever we carpool to work. Although, who knows if that’ll be happening any more.” Owen raised his eyebrows.
“Really?”
“I’m just being honest here.” He couldn’t help but feel awkward as Link whispered something into her ear, emitting a laugh from her as she glanced up at her boyfriend, a large grin spread across her face.
------------------------------------------------------------
Link looked terrified. Frankly, Owen had just told him that parenthood was the most terrifying thing ever and he was just going to be more and more scared, which was not the response he was hoping for. Owen seemed to notice and let out a sigh. “It seems bad, but you’re going to be fine. I promise that everyone makes it sound more terrifying than it is.”
“Didn’t you just say-”
“Of course you’re going to be terrified, but once he’s born you’ll also be insanely happy. And everything will be perfect for a while.”
“I’m just worried about Amelia. She’s scared of what’ll happen and I know she’s still dealing with a lot of grief. From Christopher.” Link stopped as he handed the nurse the instrument he was using. “And with the extra stress from whatever’s happening with Richard, she’s pushing herself, and she doesn’t want any input from me, of course.” He looked up to see Owen standing still. “Sorry, I probably shouldn’t have said anything-”
“No, it’s okay. We’re all family now, right?” Link nodded.
“Right.”
------------------------------------------------------------
He had settled outside of their hospital room, hoping to take his mind off of the cancellation of his wedding, and probably the end of his relationship with Teddy. Amelia and Link were laying on the hospital bed with his arm wrapped around her while both of them were completely enamored by their son who was laying in her arms. Owen smiled softly, remembering when Allison had just been born and he was just as happy. It had only been a few months since that time, but he would do anything to get that happiness back. He didn’t want to interrupt their little bubble of happiness, even as much as he wanted to go in and hold the baby and share some of their happiness. He knew if he went in the room, they’d ask why he was at the hospital instead of getting married and he would have to explain everything. There’d be a time for that in the future.
He didn’t know how much time had passed, but eventually, Link stood up from the bed to rock the baby around. Amelia looked over and saw Owen standing outside of the window and waved to him. He waved back politely, noticing the smile on her face. She had rarely smiled like that while they were together and it was a smile he had just gotten to see more recently. She looked happy. Happier than he had ever seen her, and he was truly happy for her and Link. He knew that Link was good for her, better than he could be.
And that was it. It was suddenly that simple; she was happy and he was happy for her.

Tear Stained Face - Amelink
As soon as I saw this post from @tw1sted-m00n, I was inspired to write something about Amelia holding Scout for the first time! I wish we got more kind of insight into how Amelia are coping/adjusting to being parents and I plan on filling in that gap through some fics. This is a little on the short side but I think it works better that way…enjoy…
“And now it’s time for this little one to meet Mama and Dada” Carina smiled largely as she gently placed the crying baby on Amelia’s chest. Carina had delivered dozens of babies but watching the reaction from mothers as they held their baby to their chest never got old.
“They’re both good right? Everything is fine?” Link asked with his eyes wide as he stared at his son rather than then the doctor he was addressing. He’d missed so much of his son’s birth as he operated on Richard and still couldn’t quite process the fact that he was now a father, it was the most surreal moment of his life and he didn’t want it to ever end.
