a new noble family has just been added to the kingdom of navarre by one of our members - take a look !!

the harlaines - navarre’s first noble family

the harlaines have been serving the court of navarre since there’s been a court, and with that long, dutiful history comes exacting expectations that each generation of squires sweats and bleeds to meet. they raise their own children alongside promising foundlings brought back from quests across navarre, favouring those orphaned by the supernatural horrors the family has always done battle with on the court’s behalf. there’s a rough and tumble, competitive sort of camaraderie between these young knights-to-be; while the young harlaines know they stand to inherit the family titles, lands, and wealth, they’re also well aware that their parents may choose to raise their adopted squires to a share in that lordship if they pass muster. disagreements over this practice are easily settled through duels, but house harlaine is better known for their knightly prowess - and their abiding mistrust of all supernatural entities - than their infighting. until recently, that is. three years ago, their newest raised lord returned unexpectedly from questing in the countryside, had a disagreement with the ruling lord that came to blows, and was stripped of his titles and seemingly abandoned his prestigious advisory post in the royal court. strangely, he seems to have carried on the monster-battling duties he devoted himself to, slaying supernatural forces throughout navarre… but the family does not speak of him, and the court whispers of scheming on the part of jealous harlaine siblings to sour their parents’ affection for the favourite foundling.
