CPI DATA WILL RIDE THE MARKET THIS WEEK & IS SET TO RELEASE ON WED
Asia-Pacific share markets were subdued on Monday. The Shanghai Composite is up 0.14% at 3,231.46. Overall, the Singapore MSCI is flat at 305.50. Over in Hong Kong, the Hang Seng Index is down 0.51% at 19,909.00. In Japan, the Nikkei 225 is up 0.25% at 28,240.00, while the Topix index is up 0.21% at 1951.00. South Korea’s Kospi is down 0.01% at 2,490.65. Australia S&P/ASX 200 up 0.13% at 7024.90.
Top News of the Day:
U.S. stock futures were trading lower during Sunday’s evening deals, with major benchmark averages coming off a positive week as stronger than expected earnings results continue to roll in.
Ahead in the week, market participants will turn focus toward fresh CPI data set for release on Wednesday, which is expected to slow amid falling gasoline prices. Headline CPI is expected to dip to 8.7% in July from a 40-year high of 9.1% in the previous month.

GOLD IN THE NEXT 5 YEARS: WILL IT RISE OR FALL
In the past, people have flocked to gold as a safe haven asset during periods of economic instability and currency depreciation, making it likely that demand and price would rise over the next five years.
Inflation:
The fundamental factors that drive inflation are all present and accounted for, including supply chain problems, manufacturing concerns, a large amount of money from the Fed that hasn’t yet impacted the economy, and growing food costs. As a result, high inflation appears to have no end in sight. In contrast, the Fed’s modest interest rate increases of 0.50 and 0.75 basis points pale in comparison to the current inflation rate of 8.6 %, suggesting that inflation may become even more out of control.
The US inflation rate is at 8.6%, up from 8.3 % in April. High inflation rates in the past have caused the price of gold to rise quickly. Inflation was increasing quickly in the 1970s and up until 1980, and the price of gold increased by more than 2,000 %. The price of gold might rise sharply if inflation stays at or exceeds the target rate of 8%. To reach $3,000 an ounce, gold would only need to increase by around 50%; possibly as a result, gold will be considerably more valuable in 5 years.

Over in Hong Kong, the Hang Seng Index up 1.05% at 24,823.00. In Japan, the Nikkei 225 down 1.54% at 29,330.00, while the Topix index is down 1.22% at 2020.0. South Korea’s Kospi down 0.08% to 2994.87. Australia S&P/ASX 200 down 0.15% at 7399.4.
