東京スカイツリーにあるアマラでは、非常にユニークな美術作品を飾っています。4500年以上もの歴史があるこのアートは、インダス文明の人々によって創られました。 それは“ドクラ”と言う芸術の一つで、名前は当時の金属職人がドクラ・クマールと呼ばれる部族であったことに由来します。この部族は現在ミネラルが豊富な土壌の中央インドと東インドで生活をしています。チャッティースガル州バスタール地方の職人たちは、4500年前に開発された蜜蝋を糸状にした失ろう法と呼ばれるそのユニークな技法（ロスト・ワックス）で知られています。 ロスト・ワックスはフランスで流行しており、青銅、黄銅、そして日々の生活をテーマにした像や皿を制作するのに用いられています。ドクラは飾り気がなく、シンプルで美しい作品です。 ドクラと呼ばれる美しい古代アートが失われないためにその伝統を守り、そしてその技能を次の世代へと伝えなければいけません。 アマラでは、訪れたお客さまに古代部族の芸術に触れて頂き、その素晴らしい技術を少しでも多くの人に知って頂きたいと望んでいます。何千マイルも離れた村で暮らす部族職人の創る作品を飾ることによって、彼らを応援したいと思います。 その他にも、カルカッタ出身の有名な芸術家Gouranga Nandiが創ったウッドブロックの３作品があります。宇宙の中心である太陽を表すこれらの作品を彼はCosmic Collection（宇宙の作品集）と呼び、太陽光線と地球と太陽系が調和している様子を象徴しています。 そして1958年にカルカッタの有名なパーク���ストリートにオープンし、今でも変わらずに人気店として営業している店舗のヴィンテージ写真も飾っています。 スパイスが入った箱の中には、伝統的なレシピに従って用意されるアマラの料理に使用している様々な種類のスパイス、ハーブ、そしてレンティル豆がディスプレイされています。

Amara at the Tokyo Sky Tree has some very unique art pieces. It is showcasing an art form which is over 4,500 years old and this art was developed by the people of the Indus Valley civilization. The art form is called “Dhokra Art” because the metal craftsmen who make these pieces belong to the tribal community called Dhokra Kumars. These tribal communities now live in central and eastern India where the soil is mineral rich. In the state of Chattisgarh in the Bastar District the craftsmen are famed for the unique coiled thread technique and use the lost wax process (cire perdue) which was developed 4,500 years ago. The lost wax process of cire perdue is also very much in vogue in France and is used to manufacture bronze, brass and metal figures and plates with different scenes of everyday life. The Dhokra figures are stark, plain, simple and beautiful. This ancient art form need to be preserved and the skill passed on to the next generation, so that this beautiful art form continues as a living tradition. At Amara we want our customers to learn about this ancient tribal art and promote awareness of this amazing craft. We hope to support the tribal craftsmen by showcasing their work at a location thousands of miles from their village. We also have three wooden blocks which are handcrafted and painted by the famous artist Gouranga Nandi from Calcutta. He calls these work the Cosmic Collection signifying the sun, the centre of the universe with its rays and the earth and the solar system in harmony. We also have vintage pictures of our restaurants in Calcutta which started in 1958 and are still very popular on the famous Park Street. The spice boxes display the rich blend of spices, herbs and lentils used to prepare the food at Amara in accordance with the traditional recipes.

古代ヴェダス、イギリス領時代、そして現代のインドからなる伝統的料理を通じて、アマラはみなさまに本格的なインドの味をお届けします。アマラのシェフたちは皆カルカッタにある店舗で経験を積んできました。20種類以上のスパイスとハーブを完璧なバランスで混合し、何世代にもわたって完成された伝統的レシピを元に、アーユルヴェーダの原理に従ってヘルシーで美味しいオリジナルのインド料理を提供します。
