have heavily sworn against politics posting on the damn plant blog but if you are trans in Iowa they’re trying to take our rights away this week, and if you're trans and not in Iowa this might be something to pay attention to. Nightmare time to be completely honest.

Bill HF 583 passed a subcommittee yesterday to remove gender identity from the civil rights act. It would make Iowa the first state in the nation go remove a class from its civil rights act. If it passes it would become legal to deny housing, loans, and jobs to trans people, would remove the right to change your gender marker on legal documents even with documentation, and makes it so your birth certificate must reflect your assigned gender at birth, among other things and wider implications.

Senate republicans have introduced the same bill under the name SF 418. They want to fast track this through. It could get to the governor's desk by Thursday afternoon.

Organizers are calling for a larger protest for the hearing this coming Thursday the 27th. It's scheduled for the Iowa Capital Building at 9:30 AM, more details in the link. You can register to testify here if you're directly affected.

UMMM I HAVE SOME REAL SHITTY NEWS FOR ANY TRANS/ INTERSEX PEOPLE WHO LIVE IN IOWA

Let's be honest we all saw this coming. Unfortunately it came sooner than we thought. Iowa legislation is introducing a bill that would strip trans people's rights, including banning changing your birth certificate. It would also of course weaken intersex/ GNC peoples rights. They're expected to hear the bill Monday the 24th.

A new bill in Iowa would make attending drag performances with one’s own kids a felony punishable by up to five years in jail, and it just moved out of an Iowa House of Representatives subcommittee. The language of the bill is so broad that it could include any performance involving a transgender person, even if it’s not a drag performance, opponents argue.

House Study Bill 158 would make it illegal to take a minor to a drag performance, even if that performance is family-friendly. Parents could be charged with a class D felony if they take their kids to a drag story hour, and businesses could be fined $10,000 for allowing minors to attend such a performance. The bill isn’t about lewd drag performances; it’s about any performance where a performer wears “clothing, makeup, accessories or other gender signifiers” that are “different than the performer’s gender assigned at birth.” The bill says this applies to any show that includes singing, dancing, reading, or performing “before an audience for entertainment.” Maxwell Mowitz of the LGBTQ+ organization One Iowa told the subcommittee that the bill could make it illegal for people to bring children to hear him speak because he’s transgender, the Iowa Capital Dispatch reports. “I’m a transgender person,” he said. “I was assigned female at birth, but I dress and live as a masculine person. So this bill targets me. This bill also defines performance as reading: Today, I’m reading testimony in front of a group of people, from the perspective of a trans person.” “It seems to me that the language of this bill could be bent to make it illegal for a minor to attend an event in which I am speaking, including this very subcommittee, simply because I live ‘in drag,’ as a different gender than the sex that I was assigned at birth, which is drag according to this legislation.” He said that this could affect whether kids are allowed to see artworks that involve cross-dressing, including movies like Mrs. Doubtfire and Mulan and plays like Twelfth Night.

This is anti-drag extremism: Iowa HSB158 is a bill that punishes adults attending drag performances with one’s own kids a felony punishable by up to five years in jail.

Originally, the FDA announced a recall of numerous Cal Yee Farm products because they may have contained undeclared milk, soy, wheat, sesame, FD&C #6, and/or almonds. The recall has now been elevated by the FDA to the most serious level of recall, Class 1, for only a few of the affected products: the company's dark chocolate almonds, dark chocolate apricots, and dark chocolate walnuts because the chocolates contained undeclared milk.

here's as many pictures of the cat as I can add. there's vietnamese text on some of these, but yandex turns up discussions on russian sites like vk, so much that the "quick answers" are almost all russian domains. it's possible tineye isn't searching sites from all countries, which may be why you aren't getting any matches

I made a shop!! I like crocheting and making things and also I'm trying to save up for multiple different things (moving out of my parents' house, starting testosterone, school tuition etc)
