Stroke of Midnight - Cendrillmon

I had a big Art Nouveau phase, this year. I bought one of Alphonse Mucha's artbooks and spent a good deal sort of examining what I found so beautiful and moving about his works. I think what I find so fascinating is his linework, and his ability to convey sensuality without it being overtly sexual.

I think that's the kind of way I want to be able to draw women, to be honest.

Whether it's the end of the year blues or not, I wonder if I've gotten closer to that sensibility of capturing something beautiful and joyful. I wonder if my own work has gotten better or worse, since the lens that others view my work is different to that of what I see when I look back. What do you see, when you see her?

Generally speaking, however, this is one of my favorite works for this year. Cendrillmon is one of my favorite Digimon, without a doubt, just in the sense where I find her beautiful beyond measure. I think my favorite thing to draw of her is her hair? Beyond that, any time I draw her, it seems like she's always dancing.

I think that may be continue to prevalent, as long as I keep drawing her, haha.

Surprise, it's Limbus Company, haha. I might draw more non-Digimon stuff, but we'll see. (Or maybe a crossover? Maybe if I can think of something fun. Originally, I was just supposed to draw Don Quixote with Guilmon or Dukemon, lmfao.)

Tbh, I got a lot out of this Canto in all aspects. Dreams are dangerous things, but they're also things that are worth living for, you know.

Yesterday was Aster's birthday, so I celebrated it. Don't mind the introspection behind the read more.

Technically, birthdays don't mean anything to Digimon, since it's a human concept and all. And another consideration, is that time moves different for both humans and Digimon.

In a matter of speaking, I understand the inherent whiplash that comes with going to the Digital World, because even if the time I spent there constituted as a couple hours, it felt like I spent an entire lifetime there at one point-- and then life went on.

I wonder why it felt so fast. I was 19 when I went to the Digital World, and still 19 when I left. But Aster was different. Over the course of 6 days he became a Magnamon, in a timeframe where a day only meant a couple of minutes in human time.

In my eyes, he evolved quickly, but was still a child in many respects. But that's just how it is-- Digimon don't mature in the same way that humans do. Digimon change quickly and drastically compared to humans over a short period of time, but after a certain point, they don't change anymore. It all becomes a point of mental and emotional maturity afterward, as they gain more perspective and live a life outside of their interactions with their partners.

Kizuna touched on this point quite a bit. Of course, it's different for the Chosen Children because they have Digimon that don't permanently evolve. Subsequently, if you think about it, their Digimon aren't allowed to grow up.

This year, I've thought a lot about how my perception of Aster has changed. He doesn't look as young as he used to. He's also become more mature, and isn't as ill-tempered as before. And on the opposite end compared to Kizuna, I've always been aware and have wanted him to be okay without me, in the event we were to ever part ways. I know better than anyone how capable he is, but somehow, I only realized now that I didn't just raise a Magnamon.

I raised a proper Royal Knight, when that sort of thing didn't matter to me anymore.

To me, Aster is just Aster.

The best thing I could ever hope for, as his partner and the person who raised him, is that he is capable of living a life of his own, even if I no longer have a part to play in it.

But that doesn't mean I can't feel wistful about it, haha.

Was I kind enough? Was I good enough? Did I set a good example? Does he know how much I adore him?

Even as time continues to pass, I hope he'll still spend time with me, every now and then.
