A new America has begun.
Trump won the election and I have no idea what to expect. I think that is the most frightening part. Not that a man who has sexually harassed multiple women, been openly racist and verbally abusive is now running our country, but the uncertainty of our future over the next four years.
I am no political being, and nor do I need to be to realize that this was not the path to follow. I love you America, but am so disappointed.
Divided we stand, together we fall.
Social media has been a mess of emotions this morning and it is only going to continue to get worse. But one friend stood out to me more than the others. Her words are strong and inspiring:
“As a daughter of two moms who are gay, as a sister of a brother who has Down Syndrome, and as a WOMAN in this country. I am scared. I am in a continued state of anxiety and shock about the results of last night’s election. I did not expect that this outcome could truly & actually be real in all of the universes.
My heart feels like it is beating faster than normal. I am with most of my friends and family today and just want to run far away from this place we call America.
We are in a state of mourning and of grief. It is okay to be sad, to cry, and to be mad at what just happened. Give yourself the time and the space to feel all of that. It is okay.
It's hard to believe that this world will continue to spin & life will go on after all of this but the truth of the matter it WILL. I learned this deeply when my little brother passed away almost three years ago.
Life goes on and we must go on. It's the way you choose to go on that matters.
We are all connected by something higher than politics and that is LOVE.
This is the time to be consciously aware of your thoughts, your emotions, and the energy that you are emitting. There is already so much hatred in this country. It is all over the news and social media outlets today. Do not let the hate that Trump has cast upon our country permeate your body, mind, and soul. Remember LOVE will always, always trump HATE.
It is time to be awakened. It is time to lead with compassion and to lead with grace. To get up and to show up each and every day for what matters to us most. To use the voice you were given and to remember your purpose on this earth. To love and to be loved and to make this world a better place.”
Positive actions, hope and love speak so much louder than hate and despair. Open your eyes and see this truth.

love what you do.
You must love what you do. The job you wake up for every day is something you should not only care about, but should also be something that provokes your passion and encourages your purpose.
Somewhere along the way, I lost sight of what I truly wanted out of life. I was engrossed in a world that led me down a path away from my ideal target. My aim was off and instead of shooting for the stars I was beating myself into the ground. After almost two years in a panic attack provoking hell, I told myself that this ship needed to continue sailing without me, as far and as fast away as possible. It was at that very moment that I picked myself up and began walking; this time towards the light at the end of the tunnel, not away from it.
As dramatic as this may sound, it is the truth – I had forgotten what happiness felt like and experiencing it again felt fucking fantastic. THIS is what you should feel like waking up every day; relaxed, rejuvenated and relieved. It’s not worth it to waste valuable time in a toxic environment.
Never let your urge to flourish dwindle and, as always, stay hungry.

passions, persistence, patience
Without passions in your life, what is there to live for? To achieve those passions you must be persistent. And since most cravings don’t come instantly and easily, you must have patience. Ambitions are a vicious circle of confusion; a whirlwind of ups and downs that can lead to disappointment if a bar is set too high. But that doesn't mean limiting yourself is the answer. Take each step, one-by-one. When you get winded, push on, because once you reach that top step, you’ll realize it was worth the fight.
I find myself most at ease when writing, even if my scribbles on paper, or digital characters on my screen are nothing more than nonsense – it feels like home. Comforted and content. I should write every day – even if it is just a sentence or two – it would make me the person I want to be. But, like anything else, there is always some excuse:
I can’t because I’m working.
I’m tired.
I’m hungover.
Blah blah blah.
They’re all excuses and they’re all absurdity.
I read a script the other day about reminiscences. I think it’s beneficial to reminisce, but to an extent. I often find myself longing for my past – life in San Diego, studying abroad in Barcelona, music festivals, past birthdays, and even past fights. I then come to realize that where I am now is not only where I am supposed to be; it’s where I need to be.
This post is nothing more than a patchwork of arbitrary thoughts – a personal therapy session. With the holiday season now upon us, I can’t help but think about how lucky we all are and how demented this world is that we live in. I am thankful for my family, my friends, my toothbrush, my sweaters, my nail beds, my parents, my home, my health, my appetite, and most of all my life.
Happy holidays and always stay hungry.
