AUSTRIA 2018
29.06.2018-06.07.2018
In the summer of 2018, it was time for a roadtriiip. Three of my friends and I hopped into a car and drove aaaall the way down to Austria for a few summery days. It is a long ass drive (~8h) and we started early so we wouldn’t be arriving to late. When we arrived in Austria, we were greeted by the best views on to the Blindsee right by the road we were driving on, so we just had to stop!
For the first two nights, we stayed in an AirBnB in Piburg, it was really cute and honestly not too expensive.
Later that day (after we packed everything into our little AirBnB) we went into the town of Oetz for dinner at Café Heiner. We had some drinks and some amazing traditionally Austrian food like my Käse Spätzle.
Our main objective of going to Austria was AREA47 by Ötztal Bahnhof. It’s a water-amusement park and I honestly don’t remember why, but we really wanted to go. They have loads of slides and fun activities you can do, but since it is a little expensive, we decided to go to the main waterpark area on our first full day (we got some afternoon/evening ticket, I think) and then we had booked white water rafting for our second day. And let me tell you - it was a lot of fun! We had our GoPro and we took some hilarious videos of ourselves sliding down those slides and white water rafting in that freezing mountain water.
Even though it was an expensive experience, I would recommend visiting AREA47 if you’re someone that enjoys some watery fun and some sliding action. Oh and btw, we were SO lucky with the weather, we had about 30+ degrees celsius, which - honestly - I didn’t even really think Austria could get that hot, lol.
After our waterpark adventures, we drove to a different part of Austria to go to an observation deck that I had found on some travel instagram page and really wanted to go to. It’s called Treppe Ins Nichts and it’s in Ramsau am Dachstein. It’s on top of a mountain and you can get there with a short (& kinda pricey) gondola ride. Be aware that up there, it can be windy and quite a bit colder than down in the valley, so don’t go up there in shorts (like we did). It was windy as hell up there, there even was some snow! And the views were incredible. I would 10/10 recommend checking it out - I think the price tag is worth it! (~40€)
I mean: LOOK at those views. damn. Back down from the mountain, we had some traditionally Austrian food again (Kaiserschmarrn hmmm) and then drove to The Alpine Club by Diamond Resorts Hotel in Schladming, where we stayed for one more night before driving aaaall the way back home (which was quite the journey). The hotel was alright and we even spent the way overpriced fee for using the hotel pool that night.
All in all, I had a great time and would highly recommend anyone to go explore your neighboring countries because look what you might find.
Until next time, alvipalvi

SYLT 2018
01.03.2018-04.03.2018
Finally doing the next blogpost since I’m in my finals week and procrastinating af. Last year I went to Sylt with my family and it was COLD AF (like -10C-cold, like the ocean was slush ice-cold)!
My parents rented a beautiful holiday home in Wenningstedt and it was cute as hell. We were 6 people and we definitely had enough room. My brother and I stayed in the little bedroom right under the roof and it was a good time, when we watched a movie with his laptop prepped up on one of our suitcases in the middle of the room. We know how to have a good time!
Sylt is a very pretty island, with gorgeous beaches and cute ass lighthouses. I don’t really know what else to say - apart from my top three recommendations:
- WALK along the beach towards Westerland because it is so wide and pretty and a great spot to watch the sunset (scroll down for photos)
- EAT at the famous Gosch restaurant (anywhere on the island but preferably in List because it’s (I believe) the first one. It’s very fish-focused so maybe something for the non-vegetarians and vegans among us BUT even me, the vegetarian found some bomb ass potato pancakes (that’s literally what Kartoffel Puffer translates to?? LOL) and I would 9/10 recommend
- DRIVE up to the northernmost point of Germany which is aaaall the way up the island and then there is a cute lighthouse right by there and you can go explore a little bit
So as you can tell, I really enjoyed our trip to Sylt even though it was freezing cold and I walked around with a scarf all the way up to my sunglasses the whole time. And even though we almost go stuck on the car-train back because our car’s battery died for a hot minute *fun*
But in the end, we made it back home and everything was fine! If you have any questions, feel free to message me. And the next post will probably be a bit more exciting - stay tuned.

AMSTERDAM 2018
19.02.2018-22.02.2018
Amsterdam is one of the places I could visit over and over again and february last year was one of those times. We took a train from Hannover Central Station to Amsterdam Centraal, you could also choose something like FlixBus as a cheaper option but we had some duplo dB Coupons - so we got quite a good deal. The train ride is about 4 and a half hours and once we got there we were hangry so we went to a cute little cafe called VINNIES.
I had some blackbean-hummus toast (which was genuinely the BOMB.com) and it wasn’t too expensive either! We actually came back here one more time during our stay.
We stayed in the Q-Factory Hotel, which is a very cute hotel in east of Amsterdam. Theres a few shops right by it and it has its own little restaurant/cafe/bar next to the Lobby (which we didn’t check out for some reason).
It was a small room, but big enough for two people, a gorgeous bathroom with black tiles which was VERY instagram worthy. I would 100% stay here again.
This is the view from one of the beds, vEry interesting I KNOW.
My top 3 recommendations for Amsterdam are probably:
- WALK everywhere and as much as you can, because every corner is super beautiful and a good photo opportunity
- EAT at one of the Vegan Junk Food Bars, their food is honestly more than amazing and they’ve opened quite a few stores all around Amsterdam.
- even though it is a little expensive visit the Amsterdam Lookout! It’s behind the Central Station across the river and you get an amazing view across the city. Go in time for sunset if you can, it’s gorgeous! (Also if you have some spare cash: do the over the edge swing, it looks a little boring once you’re up there but it’s honestly quite the adventure)
(bonus recommendation: go into every cheese store like Henri Willig and try all the samples - they are delicious AF and who doesn’t like the occasional snaccck)
here’s some photos from our trip (if you want some more, check out my instagram highlight “AMS 🇳🇱” on @alvipalvi on ig) *shameless self promo*
that’s all for this trip, if you have any questions - feel free to dm me!

first post // test
hello hi,
this is the first post on this blog that I created on a whim. The plan is to make this into a space where you can find travel inspiration and suggestions for places I've been. But who knows what this is going to turn into.
