According to my mom and sister the very first thing i did upon waking up was BOLT upright and proceed to try and shove my ENTIRE fist in my mouth as fast as possible.

in the safe haven, thomas always remembers to leave on a light so newt can find his way home.

time goes on, and one of the children watches him, quietly, and asks, “who’s he waiting for?”

and her father responds: “he’s waiting for someone who’s not coming home. someone he loved dearly. someone he still loves now.”

she frowns, and asks, “why would he leave on a light when no one is coming home?”

“because he wants to believe that his special person is still out there. that his light can guide him home.”

months later, the child sits, watching, as thomas turns out the light.

beside him is a man, and they’re holding hands. for the first time in forever, thomas is smiling. and finally, she understands.

he doesn’t need to leave a light on anymore, because his light (his love) has come home.

Achilles Come Down but I have no thoughts, only Maze Runner

Achilles Come Down is about the events that unfold before and after Newt jumps off the wall in an attempt to k!ll himself.

First, Minho finds him. Minho saw Newt run into the maze, and as the bestfriend/boyfriend that he is, ran after him. He sees him climb up the walls. Newt hardly hears Minho's pleads to get him to come down:

"Achilles, Achilles, Achilles come down

Won't you get up off, get up off the roof?

You're scaring us and all of us, some of us love you,

Achilles, it's not much, but there's proof"

We also see WCKD in this song. At the same time that Minho is begging Newt not to jump, WCKD is somehow talking to Newt, telling him to jump. He's not an immune, and therefore his only purpose to them is to have a control subject. If he jumps, it can be used for important variables: that a nonimmune would jump vs an immune, how the others react, etc.

Newt jumps. Minho is crushed, and desperate that Newt is still alive. He picks up Newt, untangles him from the vines, and runs as fast as he can back to the Glade, so Newt can be be taken care of by the Medjacks.

Then we have Alby. Newt is his lover, his soulmate, his light. When he sees Newt in Minho's arms, he sprints to them, trying to stay strong because he's the leader. The others are attracted to the commotion, but Alby's glares send them back to work. Minho explains what happened.

Alby doesn't want to leave Newt's side, but knows he can't leave the other gladers misinformed. Since Minho isn't out running, Alby stations him to be by Newt. Alby leaves and calls a meeting. He doesn't want the others to lose hope, and give up, like Newt did.

"Loathe the way they light candles in Rome

But love the sweet air of the votives,

Hurt and grieve but don't suffer alone,

Engage with the pain as a motive"

Everyone is devastated. Thomas, watching everyone from WCKD's watch room, is beyond pissed. First, WCKD stole his friends, then their memories of him, then some of their lives. The song's bridge could be a conversation between him and WCKD.

"But be real and just jump, you dense motherfucker

(You're worth more, Achilles)

You will not be more than a rat in the gutter

(So much more than a rat)

While the lyrics are aimed at the jumper, it's a fight between the two opinions. WCKD believes that while Newt and the other 'control subjects' are valuable (because without them, there isn't a control group to compare to), they still think they're far less important. Thomas believes Newt is just as or more important than anyone there.

Thankfully, our bestie Newt survives the fall. He gains a nasty limp, but he's alive. Minho runs to Alby to tell him the news; Alby runs to see Newt.
