regulus that wakes up super early every morning to go to his local indie coffee shop—he always has an oversized hoodie on, sweats and some trainers that he haphazardly threw on—and he sleepily orders an iced matcha and the same barista, remus, is in every morning that thinks he's so pretty and adorable and wants to bundle him up in that hoodie, and regulus has no idea the barista likes him but god the guy who makes his matcha perfectly is so tall and hot and his hands are huge—

MoonWater fic (could be romantic or platonic) where Regulus' animagus is a little black lamb instead of a cat and Moony, the giant wolf, is very protective of this adorable little lamb who follows him around every full moon.

“Moonwater size and height difference,” I say into the mic.

The crowd boos. I begin to walk off in shame, when a voice speaks and commands silence from the room.

“She’s right,” they say. I look for the owner of the voice. There in the back of the room: Remus Lupin himself (Regulus is also behind him, but I can’t even see him on his tippy-toes </3).

Anyways, to all the moonwater height (and size) difference truthers out there—this one’s for you.

it doesn't have to be:

Wolfstar hits harder if Remus isn't conventionally attractive.

Because while Sirius is still deep in denial and internalized homophobia, he's convincing himself like "it's okay, i'm not gay, anyone would want to kiss Remus once in a while, he's just objectively hot"

Except Remus is awkward and quiet when not around friends, he's too tall like he grew up too fast and doesn't know what to do with this extra height, his scars scare people away, he wears grandpa sweaters, drinks tea in his free time and goes to sleep at 9 pm, he can't flirt for the life of him (even though he could bc he's witty and sarcastic) because he has no self-confidence and it shows.

He's basically a loser (affectionate) and Sirius is like "it's okay, no need to panic, he's the sexiest man on earth but that's just an astute observation, no gay thoughts here"

and i just think that's funny as hell

James: wow that’s so weird i’m not sure but you can wear mine until you find them

thinking about how sirius, james, and peter becoming animagi for remus is canon. like you can ship whoever you want and have whatever headcanons you have but no matter what, that's how much they loved him

moonwater meeting in both their respective slut eras, having an incredible one night stand, and then meeting again at a library years later where they become the tea drinking, book reading, documentary watching boyfriends they were destined to become

Regulus: Horrible. I never knew someone could cry so much. It never stops.

Barty: Oh. Well, babies grow out of that eventually, right?

Regulus: Oh, no, Harry’s great. He hardly ever cries.

no he didn’t. james died knowing in his heart of hearts that they were going to die too. he didn’t know lily would save harry. he died knowing he wasn’t enough to save them, knowing he wasn’t strong enough to put up a good fight, knowing the people he loved most in the world were going to go the same way he was. he died thinking of marlene and dorcas and all the other casualties of the war, knowing he wasn’t good enough to save any of them and that his wife and son were going to end up as just another two names on a long list of the dead. ☹️

Sirius: If you’re not planning to pin me against something, that’s just rude.

Regulus: *Casually shares absolutely horrifying lore from his childhood without even blinking*

Remus, shocked: Shit, Reg. Your life is bleak.

Regulus, rolling his eyes: Oh, shut it, Wolfy McWolf. It's not like your baggage is the size of a carry-on.

Based on what I know, I do not think Sirius and Regulus were even taught being gay was possible. I think Walburga/Orion refused to teach them it even exists. So I imagine them finding out like this:

Sirius: Yeah, if I was a girl I would probably date Remus to be honest. Such a shame it’s impossible for me to like him.

James: Impossible? What do you mean??

Sirius: Well you can only like people of the opposite gender.. right?

James: …No, you can like people of the same gender, that exists. It’s a thing.

Sirius: ( °ㅁ°)

Sirius: I must tell Reg

James Potter holding baby Harry in one arm, a beer in the other hand, dancing expertly in the dining room to the upbeat music, Harry giggling and bouncing to the beat on his own.

Effie trying to cook and wonderful Cuban dish for them, but Monty keeps getting up behind her to dance and make her laugh. Harry cries out to Papa Monty to dance with him, and he moves his feet with perfect rhythm over to his only grandson.

It's a riot in the house with love and noise and smiles and Regulus just leans against the door frame, arms crossed, feeling warm and content and so happy. This was his family now. His husband, his parents, their baby! And soon, his brother and brother in law would show up and it would get even louder and happier and his heart could just explode.

He doesn't stay there long. Soon James and Harry come for him, pulling him off the wall and into the dancing, even if he thinks he has no rhythm himself. James still kisses him and holds his waist and moves to the beat of the sounds of family.
