I'm here for a red queen effect tho - imagine those dragons adapting to the adapted prey. How about the prey getting faster to avoid those loppers or more resistance to cold but slower movement since you only have so many options for energy to go and I imagine thicker fur/muscles/fat could slow you down a bit.
