Bertrand was a photochemist on the Surface, so my immediate thought is that… his Neathbow fascination would fit nicely when bringing his old research to the Neath, and the amount of shit he could do with chemistry in the Nadir would be great. Would chemicals forget how to react when exposed to irrigo? Would they form new bonds, unaware of their ability to give and take electrons?

Which brings me to his unique item, A Set of Inexplicably Polarized Watchglasses

When at one angle, only Surface light passes through. When at another angle, only Neath-light, but recalling the angle for the latter is nigh impossible.

Bittersweet Shimmer: Who do they miss the most?

By Seeking, Bertrand dug himself into a hole and screams at anyone who gives him a ladder, but what most don’t hear is the part of him that misses people. He doesn’t miss a single person—he misses just… people.

People invite him to gatherings, greet him in the street, sit by him in the park, hold doors for him and subject him to random acts of kindness. He has friends who do these things of course, and he holds them in high regard, but it’s not lost on him that he’s not looked upon very favorably by the rest of society.

Before becoming a Seeker he was known for having an extroverted, outgoing and loud presence, and he prided himself on being so able to instate himself in social circles.

It’s almost entirely his own fault, but he’s made it so that he won’t be seeing people anymore unless he does something drastic, and that’s beyond his ability.

Permanent Geranium Lake:

If you asked him, he doesn’t consider himself artistic in the traditional sense. But if you look at how he writes his letters and draws his Correspondence sigils, you can see there’s a level of attention in his handwriting that goes beyond a simple need to communicate. When you read a message from him, you see a lot more than just his message—you see what he wants you to see of him.

It extends too to how he presents himself to the world, as though the mask he’s putting on is one he’s crafted carefully over the years. He’s artistic, but he’s not painting physical images—he’s painting what you think of him.

Banana Mania:

Air.

Yes he gets air down in the Neath, but you’d be shocked just how much Bertrand would give to, for once, breathe in air that’s had true rain in it, that’s been home to clouds, that’s had lightning strike through it… he swears it feels different in his lungs than the air in the Neath. He misses that dearly.

It's Hallowmas Flooks time!

There's really no choice of costume when your character was already a moth. Always been a moth. Always will be. In this case they're a white-streaked Saturnia moth (Saturnia albofasciata) for that maximum weeping look. Two colour choices, I couldn't decide. And yes, they are wearing a mask over their typical mask! They can't just take that thing off just because it's a holiday! What if someone sees them not smiling?!?!

The trousers in this case are actually tights. They're probably wearing dance shoes too.
