Bittersweet Shimmer: Who do they miss the most?

By Seeking, Bertrand dug himself into a hole and screams at anyone who gives him a ladder, but what most don’t hear is the part of him that misses people. He doesn’t miss a single person—he misses just… people.

People invite him to gatherings, greet him in the street, sit by him in the park, hold doors for him and subject him to random acts of kindness. He has friends who do these things of course, and he holds them in high regard, but it’s not lost on him that he’s not looked upon very favorably by the rest of society.

Before becoming a Seeker he was known for having an extroverted, outgoing and loud presence, and he prided himself on being so able to instate himself in social circles.

It’s almost entirely his own fault, but he’s made it so that he won’t be seeing people anymore unless he does something drastic, and that’s beyond his ability.

Permanent Geranium Lake:

If you asked him, he doesn’t consider himself artistic in the traditional sense. But if you look at how he writes his letters and draws his Correspondence sigils, you can see there’s a level of attention in his handwriting that goes beyond a simple need to communicate. When you read a message from him, you see a lot more than just his message—you see what he wants you to see of him.

It extends too to how he presents himself to the world, as though the mask he’s putting on is one he’s crafted carefully over the years. He’s artistic, but he’s not painting physical images—he’s painting what you think of him.

Banana Mania:

Air.

Yes he gets air down in the Neath, but you’d be shocked just how much Bertrand would give to, for once, breathe in air that’s had true rain in it, that’s been home to clouds, that’s had lightning strike through it… he swears it feels different in his lungs than the air in the Neath. He misses that dearly.

It's Hallowmas Flooks time!

There's really no choice of costume when your character was already a moth. Always been a moth. Always will be. In this case they're a white-streaked Saturnia moth (Saturnia albofasciata) for that maximum weeping look. Two colour choices, I couldn't decide. And yes, they are wearing a mask over their typical mask! They can't just take that thing off just because it's a holiday! What if someone sees them not smiling?!?!

The trousers in this case are actually tights. They're probably wearing dance shoes too.

Finally drew Jack's Hallowmas outfit! Based on an imperial moth, for the combination of good camouflage while also being brightly coloured.

Bonus notes here:

Glasses + mask at the same time is complicated, so he got a special mask commissioned to have lenses included. They're cosmogone to match his usual cosmogone glasses for silverer work, though it has the added bonus of giving him a hint of devilish influence visually...

He has a different separate outfit for when he's being the Benevolent Rogue - I might draw it if I had time/energy, but that outfit is Peppered Moth themed (the black variant, for maximum stealth in the sooty dark that is London)

🃏 — What would be/will be their name and domain as a Master?

Ohhh I’m torn… Mr Feathers where his domain is birds is a nice thought, but given how much he loves the Neathbow and his collection of boxed and contained colors, I think Mr Hues or something would work too.

⚔️ — Do they have a particular fighting style/signature weapon?

What feels like an obvious answer is “he’ll maul and eat you” BUT NO… ACTUALLY… that’s only if he’s observed you for a while and decided you would be tasty. Or if he’s in full Seeker mode.

But overall his fighting method when lucid depends on whether his opponent is armed or he feels they may outmatch him. An easy opponent to defeat is easy to overpower, but as soon as adversary is stronger, faster, larger, etc than he is, he turns to ambush if he can. However he starts a fight though, he will always use poison to make it easier for him to win in some way, whether it be a pointy weapon dipped in something nasty, his claws coated in toxic substances or even a deep bite from his disgusting roadkill mouth.

+2 Dreaded, +9 Watchful, +1 Unaccountably Peckish

Greatly increases Suspicion buildup

Probably through an opportunity card at Wolfstack or he attempts to board your boat at zee and you gotta pass a Wounds check where the higher your wounds, the harder it is to keep him from eating your arms BUT IF YOU MANAGE you can have a gross cannibal to hang out with

Bertrand likes both fine—at least, he hasn’t gotten a reason to dislike either yet—but if you twisted his arm he’s most likely to tip in favor of the fingerkings.

They have never led him astray, and 49 of them smushed into a bird also constantly tell him his nightmares are unfounded—meanwhile his cat ate all his pork pies.
