Yesterday I went downtown to grab lunch with a friend. We planned on meeting at a restaurant on 2nd Ave. and had completely forgotten that there was still a shit pile of devastation from the Christmas bombing. This is the first time I've seen it up close and personal, which is extra weird because I used to walk down this street every day on my lunch break before work from home was a thing.
Living in Nashville is hard, especially over the past year. A catastrophic tornado, a derecho, Covid-19, a bombing, a wild ice storm, a massive flood... the hits just keep coming. And so do the bachelorette parties. It's super strange to go downtown in your home to grab lunch with a friend, and while standing in the middle of chaos that has caused so many of the local businesses we love here to fail, a parade of ding dongs goes by on a pedal tavern at noon on a Wednesday.
Taken on a roll of Portra 400 with my Pentax 645N and developed in my kitchen.

Got my ass out on the lake yesterday. First real paddle boarding session of the season, and by sunset it was 65 degrees so still a bit chilly. It’s supposed to dip back into the thirties this week but hopefully it’ll be our last round of winter because I can’t wait to spend most days on the lake at sunset again.
Also taught my man how to use my 645N, and he did great! Taken on Ektar 100 and developed today in my kitchen.

Yesterday I got a new Fujifilm GA645 and shot a roll of Portra400, then I developed my own film for the first time using the Cinestill CS41 Liquid kit and it was a blast! There's definitely a learning curve to the rangefinder point and shoot style of the camera, but I love these two photos the most of the ones on the roll.

Days spent with my ass in a kayak on the river with my man are good days.

Do you have the kind of friends where you accidentally end up in a random city at the same time, completely unplanned and unaware you'd be seeing eachother?

I decided to start developing and scanning all of my film stuff at home, so today is my first day of scanning all my negatives from the past few months. Picked to the Epson V600 and using Silverfast 8 with Negative Lab Pro. Excited to see how different my photos look from what I usually get from my lab!

One of my favorite things in the past year has been watching businesses come back after the tornado. When Weiss Liquors put this sign back up, it was like a little beacon of hope for the rest of East Nashville.
