Is it already over?

Our last weekend in London was short but Friday was our last evening in London, and we had to make it unforgettable. So that evening we left on time for London City and watched the huge skyscrapers and on the advice of our teachers, we took our time to visit Sky Garden. After 35 floors we reached the top and I thought it was really beautiful up there. 

It was a really impressive room where you could enjoy the breathtaking view from all sides. You could also have a drink in the bar or take your drink to one of the many seats near the windows.

After many photos and a super nice experience, we were ready to leave and go back to our apartment to try to close our suitcases.

Saturday we got up at seven to clean up the last things in our apartment and left at ten at the station. After our long train journey we were unfortunately already back in Belgium and our adventure was over. It is weird to be back home. It's so boring here and there's little to experience, which is very different from the lively London where there's something to experience behind every corner.

Anyway it was great in London and if I could, I would do it again. Cheers and see you next time!

It went by so quickly...

Mijn laatste week was alvast super goed begonnen. Het weer was prachtig en het is altijd zo sfeervol hier in Londen. Hoe dan ook het was weer een drukke stage week. Maandag hebben we de Excel lijst aangepast van de 100@Brussels en de missende commentaren bij aangevuld zodat onze lijst helemaal in orde was en hebben we ons de verdere namiddag nog bezig gehouden met andere evenementen zoals Food Matters Live.

Maandagavond zijn we meteen vertrokken naar St. Paul’s Churchyard om de St Paul’s Cathedral te gaan bewonderen. Wat trouwens echt een aanrader is. De kathedraal is prachtig en als je er voorstond, besefte je pas echt hoe groot het gebouw eigenlijk wel niet was. Daarna zijn we naar de Millennium Bridge gegaan. Het uitzicht was er echt adembenemend. Je kon alle wolkenkrabbers van Londen zien en wat het helemaal compleet maakte waren alle lichtjes van de zovele gebouwen van London City. Daarna was het tijd voor naar Tower Bridge te wandelen maar we moesten toch eerst nog een tussenstop maken voor een Mcflurry. Want wie gaat er nu naar de Tower Bridge kijken zonder een Mcflurry?

Nadat iedereen alles goed gefotografeerd had was het tijd om naar huis te gaan en na een lange wandeling door het metrostation en de lange treinreis waren we eindelijk thuis.

Dinsdag ben ik begonnen met het controleren van mijn contacten en te kijken wie ik nog moest bellen. Daarna kon ik nog even aan mijn blog werken en voor de middag ben ik beginnen te bellen naar de overige bedrijven van Food Matters Live. En namiddag zijn we begonnen met de post te gaan halen. Die hebben we dan gescand en doorgemaild. Daarna was er niet veel tijd meer over om mensen te bellen dus heb ik alvast opzoekwerk gedaan over het nieuwe evenement in Londen.

Woensdag ben ik de dag begonnen met het bellen van bedrijven op de Biofach lijst (voorgaand evenement waar ze de contacten van geïnteresseerde verzameld hadden) voor Food Matters Live. Aangezien de lijst zoveel bedrijven bevatten, heeft dit tot drie uur geduurd. Daarna ben ik begonnen met het vertalen van een Nederlandstalige licentieovereenkomst naar het Engels.

Woensdagavond werd het toch hoog tijd om naar de KFC en het Westfield winkelcentrum te gaan dat verrassend mooi en groot was.

Our last weekend

Saturday we went like really early to Camdon town. There we strolled through the streets and visited the numerous shops of Camdon Market. What amazed me was that it was so busy in Camdon. (It’s maybe even busier than Oxford Street.) But I think that the special facades of the shops also attracted a lot of people. 

We suddenly came across a Poppie's store. So we stopped for the best Fish and Chips in London.

Our next stop was Hyde Park, where we enjoyed the sunny weather. The lake was really beautiful and the swans, geese and ducks were pretty scary but it was nice to watch them from a distance. 

After that I went Oxford Street to get a pizza in an Italian shop and I also went to the shops where I hadn't been before. And to make the evening complete, we went to Shepperds Bush for a Twix Mcflurry from the Macdonalds.

Last Sunday we decided that we wanted to walk a lot because of the lovely weather. So we went back to Bond Street and Oxford Street. I hear you thinking: 'Really? Again?'. But no matter how often you go there, you never get bored of it. And we even visited the Disney store, which was fun to visit because it was so beautiful and colourful inside.

Busy days in London

Het is hier zo druk in Londen dat ik jullie bijna vergeten te vertellen ben hoe mijn tweede week hier verlopen is. 

Hoe dan ook, de eerste twee dagen verliepen niet zo vlotjes dan dat ik gehoopt had omdat ik hier natuurlijk weer ziek moest worden. My bad. Maar met de nodige rust en medicatie was het zo vlug weer weg als dat het gekomen was en was ik weer helemaal klaar om op mijn stage architecten te bellen voor een opkomend evenement en de omgeving te gaan ontdekken. Wat natuurlijk wel moest want Gypsy was jarig en dat moest gevierd worden. 

Dus hebben we ons zo snel mogelijk klaargemaakt en zijn we vertrokken naar Oxford Circus om daar een pizza te gaan eten in één van de zovele gezellige zaken en daarna wat rond te wandelen in de sfeervolle straten die verlicht waren door de vele lichtjes. Toen we voorbij de local pub wandelde, hebben we toch maar besloten om daar iets te drinken want daar moesten we toch is geweest zijn.

Vrijdag hebben we bij de BLCC de laatste architecten gebeld en zijn we op onze wekelijkse uitstap geweest naar het postkantoor. Wat ik op zich echt altijd geweldig vind want met het mooie weer valt er heel wat te beleven op Trafalgar Square. Je komt heel wat mooie gebouwen tegen en natuurlijk ook heel veel mooie auto’s.

Om deze zonnige dag goed af te sluiten, zijn we na onze drukke stage dag eens gaan kijken naar het Hard Rock Café. Echt een aanrader want een café met meer sfeer ga je moeilijk vinden in Londen. Iedereen was mee aan het zingen met klassiekers zoals  Bohemian Rhapsody van Queen. Dit was de ideale manier om het weekend goed van start te laten gaan.

How should we describe our weekend? Fully planned...

It was a very busy weekend. But we started the weekend well, by eating in the Angus steakhouse in Piccadilly Circus. What is highly recommended by the way. After that we went to the Lego store, and we did some shopping in the M&M store. By the way, have I already told you how busy it is in Leicester Square? On every corner of the street there is something to see or do, so you will certainly not get bored. To summarize briefly, it was a really nice evening.

Saturday we had to wake up early for our trip to Madame Tussauds. What I really thought was a great idea. There was a lot to see and I didn't know where to look first. There were also many things to do like a train ride and at the end a 4D movie. Afterwards we took the underground to Charing Cross (where my internship is located). There we waited in the Jubilee Gardens until we had to go to the London eye. We only had to wait for half an hour and after that we were able to enjoy the beautiful view for another half hour. When we returned, we made a short walk in shepherds bush.

On sunny Sunday we could finally sleep a bit longer as usual and after breakfast we left to Notting Hill to admire the colorful houses, to explore the cozy shops and of course to take pictures. To complete our trip, we also had an ice cream there because the sun was shining and the weather was really nice. But our day was not complete yet.  We still had to shop in Oxford Street, and we didn't stop until everyone had seen everything they wanted to see.

After this long day, we settled down in the couch and saw temptation island together.

What a week!

My first internship week has passed by so quickly! I can't believe it yet. It's so much fun here in London and I don't know what I have to do first. London is so big and there is so much to see. I have the feeling that you can never see everything in this city. And I am very lucky that my internship is so close to Trafalgar square. It is very impressive and especially something I have never seen before. But of course I am also very lucky with the place where I do my internship!

However, I have already gotten a lot of nice tasks at the BLCC. In the beginning I was able to look up and read some important things about the BLCC itself and then I went through their events. And you have to think that I have been working on that for 1 full day. By the way, did I tell you guys already that I was guided around the building the first day? The lobby and club lounge are the things I will remember best.  

The next day, I had to check all  categorized contacts for the event and afterwards that, I was able to call all Belgian companies on the list, whether they were interested in participating in the event, and I am still working on it. To summarize it briefly, I have learned a lot this week.

Mijn eerste indruk over Londen

Hallo iedereen

We zijn eindelijk in Londen gearriveerd vanaf zaterdag middag. Vanaf 3 uur mochten we in ons appartement en hebben we ons geïnstalleerd. Om kwart na 6 hebben we de underground genomen naar Piccadilly Circus en zijn we daar hamburgers gaan eten. 

In zo een grote en levendige stad leven als Londen is best wel een uitdaging en brengt ook wel wat stress met zich mee, zoals de underground. Ik vind de metro nemen een hele opgaven maar stilletjes aan begin ik er de fun wel in te zien. En dat je naar rechts moet kijken voor je oversteekt, heb ik nog niet helemaal onder de knie.

Voor de rest ben ik onder de indruk van de drukke straten, de oneindige winkels en de gezellige sfeer hier. En ik ben er 100% zeker van dat we ons hier echt gaan amuseren en dat de dagen hier voorbij gaan vliegen.

Can I introduce you to BLCC?

Hello guys 

It’s getting closer and I think it's about time that I’m going to tell you more about my internship. I'm going to the Belgian-Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce and I'm glad I got this opportunity.

BLCC is since 1890 a trusted one-stop shop for successfully conducting business in the UK. Their services cover all our concrete needs from establishing a business in the UK and employing British staff, to administrative tasks such as accounting, legal and secretarial matters. More than 250 companies have already joined the BLCC.

They have 40+ annual events – free or discounted – including trade fairs, trade missions, seminars, corporate and networking events that give companies access to a broad network of trustworthy UK contacts that matter. 

The expectations of my 3 weeks internship in London are that I am going to learn a lot about the work and living environment. I also think that I am going to learn more about working in such a big city as London. 

I'm really looking forward to it!

Living in London

A few more weeks, and we're in London and I'm really counting the days. This is the first time I'm going to London and especially the first time I'm away from home for 3 weeks and I look forward to it. Anyway, I'm sure this is an experience I'll never forget and of which I’am going to learn a lot.

London is the capital and largest city in the United Kingdom, which of course has a lot to do. So London offers something for everyone. You can go shopping, visit historical monuments, go hiking in one of the many parks and you should definitely not forget to drink something in the world-famous London pubs. And those are the things I want to do for sure.

Hello guys! First of all I hope you will enjoy reading my posts. My name is Allanis Mouchard and I’m 18 years old. I am a student at Sint-Maria in Geel and I study Office Management and Communication. I am very excited to go to London. Three weeks is not very long but, I am sure we will try to see as much as possible.
