You want to know why you鈥檙e struggling with discipline?
You don鈥檛 have a discipline problem, discipline can be learned. you鈥檙e actually trapped in an emotional cycle that is keeping you stuck. Your start again stop again pattern isn鈥檛 about willpower鈥攊t鈥檚 about the loop of hope, fear/control & shame that sabotages your progress.
The cycle looks like this
You feel excited & motivated about your future goals.
You try to force discipline as a way to guarantee success.
You fall short, feel like a failure & beat yourself up.
Then, the cycle repeats, making you believe that the problem is you鈥攚hen in reality, the problem is the pattern.
Discipline shouldn鈥檛 be a tool for control. Focus on showing up not guaranteeing results, so detach from the outcome & learn to trust yourself. At least to take risks.
Perfection isn鈥檛 sustainable (it also stems from insecurity) progress is. Progress x consistency = results. You can start big and still fail. The lesson and skills are in the journey. Whole point of everything. Even if you鈥檙e naturally great, if you鈥檙e not learning something- that becomes your blind spot that will ultimately work against you. Seriously, always look for the lesson. It鈥檚 good for you, I promise.
Instead of beating yourself up, learn to trust yourself to stay consistent. The moment you fall into self blame, you lose motivation. Discipline isn鈥檛 about forcing yourself at all; but about learning to show up consistently without fear or shame because you deserve what you want and are committed to getting it.
Now that we鈥檝e understood (& hopefully acknowledged the emotional issue) we can control it.
