As Turkey rescue pics are being posted online, my heart is left so bittersweet for all the poor birdies left behind and being murdered for thanksgiving. The terror those sweethearts must be feeling as they watch their friends and family getting murdered in front of them and waiting their turn.
I read a beautiful term called 'thanksliving' sometime back. It was to signify a thanksgiving where no animal was exploited or murdered for the celebrations.
You can find plant based turkeys in the markets or even make them at home! Also, YouTube is flooded with vegan turkey recipes and so is Instagram. Hope you choose to save animals this time and go vegan 💚

with adhd/autism it's funny like. people will call you weird all your life, people will bully you for your "outlandish" behaviour, people will criticize literally everything you do as "not normal", BUT THE SECOND YOU GET DIAGNOSED (or suggest you might have it) they're like "huh what but you're so normal, you're literally the most normal person I've ever seen, you're literally so normal and absolutely nothing is wrong with you? why would you have that now all of a sudden???"

I just don't understand how people gave up masking on public transport. I'm not even talking from a moral perspective. Every time I'm on a train there is at least one person coughing their lungs out -- and maybe it isn't Covid! But how did everyone go back to "yep, sure am happy to be marinating in That! Love to be sealed in a metal canister, breathing in specks of other people's diseased respiratory systems! Sure am glad not to protect myself in any way!"

‘Another mistaken belief is that the best way to cut greenhouse gases is to eat food that is locally grown. There might be good social and cultural reasons to buy local food. Local markets might help to enhance the food system market modularity and resilience. But there are seldom good climate reasons. This is because the greenhouse gases emitted by moving food are tiny by comparison to those emitted by growing it.
For example, if you buy pasture-fed beef or lamb, the contribution of transport to its total climate costs, depending on where it comes from, is likely to be between 0.5 and 2 per cent. Raising the meat accounts for roughly 95 per cent of its emissions (the rest are caused by processing, packing, storing and displaying it. You would have to ship a kilo of dried peas roughly one hundred times around the world before it’s greenhouse gases matched those of a kilo of local beef.’ George Monbiot, Regenesis: Feeding the World Without Devouring the Planet

You don't know what it's like to be disabled unless you're disabled.
Not if you're a parent to a disabled child.
Not if you're an educator with disabled students in your classroom.
Not if you're a medical or mental health professional with disabled patients.
If you're not disabled, then you don't know what it's like to be disabled.

ironic i only come back to tumblr to post to the void about #thetrauma but im having a shit time and being called birthday girl when im a 33 year old man is too fucking much. its too much. people dont know the priveledge of being able to escape and cut off the people in their lives that are harming them when they have it. If you can get away from these people just do it, dont wait, dont give them any chances just get away while you can. thats the only piece of advice i can give from my 33 miserable years of existence. Its unbelievable that ive been trying to escape my family since i was 5 yrs old and the painful truth that i had a better chance of running away from them then than i do as an adult. life is cruel yo.
um if anyone actually read this plz dont reblog im just venting as i dont have any other outlet. And dont worry i guess, i dont really have the energy for tumblr atm so im just not around here much anymore.

ya idk who needs to hear this but just because you’re exploited under capitalism doesnt mean that all of your selfish and destructive behaviors and decisions regarding consumption are justified and moral. individual action is the bedrock of collective action. if you’ve been convinced otherwise, if you’ve been convinced that individual action is fruitless, then you’ve resigned to the insidious narratives that benefit only those who gain from systems of violence and exploitation.
