In this course, I explored a lot and I believe that artistic creation is a way to express my inner state. Therefore, I tried to combine abstract imagery with my favorite colors to create such a painting. I boldly tried my ideas on the canvas with acrylic paint, but like Jackson Pollock, I found that when I started painting, I didn't realize what I was drawing. Every stroke was so free, and only after it was completed did I understand what I had done. Art was like living, and I tried to make it appear naturally. So when I finish this painting, I can truly see my imagination because before I started, I didn't have any plans about what it would look like, but it was great, and I was very satisfied with the final result. I hope you can also enjoy it.

For me, I think art starts with learning and imitation. When you truly discover the way you want to express yourself in painting, you will form your own artistic style.
From the beginning, Jackson Pollock followed Thomas Hart Benton to learn and use abstract imagery in his paintings. The change in artistic style that followed in the “drip” painting was precisely because he created his own artistic style. Jackson Pollock's “drip” painting casually concealed dramatic abstract effects, full of passion and the freedom and wildness of color. He is also using his own painting style to indirectly express his views and feelings towards that era.
Unlike most artists, he discarded many painting tools and replaced them with his own hands. He eliminated manual techniques and seemed to have eliminated the constraints and controls brought to him by this era.
This is an artwork I drew with crayons and watercolors. What I want to express is the scene of all things growing in the vase, and various colors and shapes of plants. I hope you like it!

Group 3
Prat 1:
Portraiture may be one of the most popular and ancient forms of photography. This photo depicts an elderly grandmother of an Asian nation crossing a river with a bridge. When I saw this portraiture, I searched for the story behind it. I learned that this nation usually lives in secluded mountains, and getting along with nature has become a daily necessity. Their population is very small, But this does not prevent them from having their own unique ethnic culture and language.
I think the portraiture taken in this situation seem more honest and candid than stage photos, as some of them may be photographed for the first time in their lives. Such photos highlight the primitive beauty of our humans.
Part 2:
This photo is from Ansel Adams' photography exhibition that I saw before at the Boston Museum of Art. He is famous for filming the landscape of the western United States. In the 1930s, national parks such as Yosemite, Grand Teton, and Yellowstone were far from reaching the level of fame they enjoy today. His photographs allowed many people to see the magnificent scenery of the western United States for the first time. For example, in this Landscape, “The Tetons and the Snake River, 1942” we see the beautiful and spectacular landscape of the Grand Teton National Park. In his photography, he highlights the winding Snake River and the towering Teton Mountain in the distance. The stunning composition makes me feel that the landscape with soul is like this.
Part 3:
In order to make the subject more prominent, this still life painting is directly illuminated by the artist on the orange, weakening the surrounding light and creating a dramatic effect. The color scheme of the painting also gives a strong visual effect, with expressive strokes and strong contrast between light and dark to create an atmosphere that makes me feel as if it is right in front of me.

Part 1:
Hello everyone, my name is Alice Qin. An interesting fact about me is that I enjoy sports and painting, and I also enjoy researching recipes. The artist I am assigned to is Hieronymus Bosch. He’s famous painting—— The Garden of Earthly Delights
Bosch was born in the small town of Selto Henbosch in the Netherlands, hence his name Bosch.
This painting was created between 1490 and 1510 and is his most famous artwork.
The Garden of Earthly Delights is composed of three oil paintings with different square shapes, namely heaven, earth and hell.
Bosch is generally regarded as the founder of Surrealism.
The art is now in the Museo del Prado in Madrid.
When I first saw this artwork, I felt that its meaning, complexity, and vivid imagery were incomparable to his other works. The trilogy depicts the history of the world, as well as the emergence and continuation of evil. Starting from creating the blinds of the world, the story of Adam and Eve's original sin is depicted on the left side of the screen, while the torment of hell, darkness, cold but hot nightmare like vision, is depicted on the right side of the screen. The joyful garden located in the center indicates that humans in the world are deeply engaged in the pleasure of sin. Bosch never left his hometown Netherland in his lifetime, but he painted these creatures that never existed on Earth. I think this is a work full of imagination. There are too many details in it for people to analyze and criticize. But I think it is the passage of time that makes people lose their imagination, so that those metaphors become strange, and the interpretation of The Garden of Earthly Delights becomes more and more mysterious.
Part 2:
These candles were bought for my mother one year for her birthday. I originally planned to use them as decorations on the dining table, but decorations like candles will be put away in the drawer after the birthday, and may even have to wait for a long time before they can be used again. Therefore, I plan to put them in a place where we can see them every day. I use a spray gun to melt the candle so that it can firmly stick to the ceramic table. I think it is very beautiful because it reminds us of the beautiful memories of that day every day when we see it. Art is often around us.
Part 3:
My name is Alice Qin. I am 19 years old and I am Asian. I lived in both South Korea and China during my childhood, but when I was in middle school, I came to the United States. I often collided with different cultures, which was a very interesting thing for me. I usually enjoy researching recipes and drawing. I also have two cute cats. As a student now, I feel that what sets me unique is that I have a very novel perspective on people and things around me, and can have my own unique insights. This is something I am very satisfied with myself.
Part 4:
In daily life, I am fascinated by everything with charming colors. This is my self portrait, and I use a pencil to draw it. Of course, if I have time, I would rather try to draw it in watercolor form.
