a kinetic sculpture by Tim Lewis
I know it’s not pottery but it is sculptural and holy shit
it’s beautiful and disturbing and I feel like I could stumble across this creature in a forest and never be seen again???

this is such a late reply but I only remembered about this now. I have so many feminized hobbies. the point I’m making isn’t that we should reject those hobbies altogether bc I agree we don’t need to be modeling anything after men. that gives men way too much power over our personal lives. my point is that hobbies are only seen as acceptably feminine if they revolve around serving someone else. you use knitting as an example. how many times has someone acted entitled to you knitting them something for free? bc I know that used to happen to me all the time when I crocheted. and that’s not saying something’s ontologically wrong with knitting and crocheting. it’s saying women aren’t culturally permitted to have something purely for fun that benefits no one but themselves
has anyone noticed how women aren’t supposed to have fun. like there’s a constant debate online about whether women are punished or rewarded for dressing/acting feminine and I’d argue that we’re rewarded for femininity just so long as we never ever enjoy it. we’re not supposed to enjoy being tomboys either though. there are no stereotypically female hobbies that are purely for fun the way men have sports and video games. the ideal feminine role according to society is a woman who devotes her entire life to other people and does nothing for herself and any woman who prioritizes herself in any way let alone her own enjoyment of life is guilt tripped to hell and back. men are allowed to be silly little guys being dudes and do dumb shit for fun and even the feminist response to that seems to tend to be all about how dumb men are for acting like that and how women would never bc we’re smarter (I am not smarter I had to be talked out of stealing a boat on Sunday). women aren’t supposed to ever take risks. every silly little fun thing that women like (Pinterest Taylor Swift Christian girl Autumn pumpkin spice lattes etc) is RUTHLESSLY mocked. I think one of the most feminist things a woman can do is have a lot of fun and laugh a lot and enjoy life

we do need to revisit the wording of "you can't have your cake and eat it too" because i don't think it clearly enough conveys that it's more that you can't simultaneously retain a cake and also get to consume it (which would render you cakeless). for years i was like But why not....it's my cake....?

Shit man, this wizard war is fucked. I just saw a guy clap his hands together and say "the ten hells" or some similar shit, and every one around him turned inside out, had their tibia explode and then disappeared. The camera didn't even go onto him, that's how common shit like this is. My ass is casting frostbite and level 2 poison. I think I just heard "power word:scrunch" two groups over. I gotta get the fuck outta here.

Verily, man, this wizard peace is splendid. I just saw a guy clap his hands together and say "spirits o' field and vineyard" or something along those lines, and every one around him was showered in fresh-baked pastries and loaves, had their cups fill with aged wine, and then were soothed by a warm summer breeze. The minstrels didn't even sing his praises, that's what a joyous time this is. And here I've just been casting calming dew and level 2 aura of cheer. I think I just heard "power word: dessert" two groups over. I gotta get over there.
