SEGA owns everything from AoSTH and SatAM

hello everyone! its Alex Hedgefox, also known as Nintrendodude, and im here because i have some HUGE news for fans of AoSTH and SatAM! i was able to receive a never before seen document from a lawsuit between DiC and SEGA of America over the @sonicthehedeghog cartoons created by DiC from 1995. and it goes over alot of information: https://x.com/Alex_Hedgefox2/status/1878235736832450563 but the 2 important points are, SEGA definitively owns EVERYTHING created for The Adventures of Sonic The Hedgehog and Sonic The Hedgehog(SatAM) including characters, concept art, animation cels, to even the completed animation for the episodes and if sega wanted to, they could reuse any of the animation from AoSTH and SatAM for video games without having to pay a cent to DiC(wildbrain) in royalties. [i have no clue if this also extends to Sonic Christmas Blast(1996) or Sonic Underground(1999) as the papers are from 1995 before either of those were put into production] and we also find out what appears to be the true reason why we never got a third season or any kind of conclusion to the satam series. being that dic was selling satam animation cels without sega's consent or acknowledgement, so sega put an injunction on dic which legally prevents them from being able to continue the series. if you wanna learn more about this document just click the Twitter(X) link above. now this doesnt mean sega will immediately start using the characters again, theres a chance that maybe they forgot they own what they own. but now we know that they do own it, and hopefully it will spread around to other people or eventually back to sega and theyll see that they own everything from those first 2 shows. and could easily bring them back in or retool/reboot/rebrand them however theyd like.

Get Sonic(SEGA) to acknowledge Sally!

The mandates don't exist to hold back bad writers in check, not like Sonic Team ever kept that standard when they Flynn and Pontac working on the games lol. Paramount didn't have to follow the mandates and not because Sonic Team had faith in them, several of the staff members had no idea what the movie was about until they went out to watch it, Paramount is a Hollywood studio they gave Sega enough money to stay silent on their creative decisions. It's money not Sega's integrity.

SEGA put mandates into effect because they know they're dealing with writers who have no credibility when it comes to portraying their characters accurately. They only need to bear witness to Flynn whining about how he can't mutilate Shadow in his shitty podcast to know this, let alone see what he submits to them. They were RIGHT to say "No. Shadow doesn't speak like this" when Flynn submitted Shadow's multi-line post-MV monologue to them and which Flynn actively undermined by turning it into a series of thought bubbles instead. Because it's true. Shadow isn't a character who goes on multiple paragraph speeches. He isn't verbose. He's to-the-point. When he talks, you will listen. Because he doesn't do so unless he sees fit to. Which gives his speech more gravitas. SEGA at least have some level of credibility when it comes to how their characters are portrayed. It's lacking, yes. As evidenced by how thoroughly incompatible and contradictory IDW!Sonic is with his game counterpart. But it's not completely absent.

funny how you call me a satam eletist, when some of my favorite stories for the franchise come from the video games and sonic x, but go off i guess about how hedgefox man bad.

So sick of these satam/archie fans shoving the freedom fighters in our faces. Makes it worse when having one of their sacred cows on board. Their beloved spin off did way more damage than 06 ever had, yet 06 is the one getting hate the most? At least Sonic’s brain wasn’t altered to the point he’s technically a different character to make Elise look better, unlike for Sally in satam/archie.

not seeing the part where satam/archie made him a radically different character? also, you cant use CD in your example because when SatAM was being made it did not exist yet, both AoSTH and SatAM only had Sonic 1 and 2 to work off of. SatAM’s first episode premiered September 18th 1993: 

CD didnt release until September 23rd 1993 the earliest and didnt come to america until 2 months later November 23rd 1993: 

so you cant exactly fault the people behind SatAM for not sourcing a game that didnt exist yet for a bright neon world by eggman. also we’re gonna pretend that Eggman’s industrial areas in Sonic 1 and 2(y’know, the games used to inspire the show) werent bleak and dull in color:

the one thing i find funny is they’ll act like idw sonic is completely consistent in his characterization compared to the video games. but will conveniently ignore the existance of issue 23:

an issue in which, Sonic is threatening to lock eggman up: 

which already goes against their “gud boi” interpretation of idw sonic who “lets everyone have the same freedom as him”

but not only that, also in issue 23, Sonic threatens to infect kill Eggman with the Metal Virus:  

our hero of ultimate goodness everybody. and before anybody hits me with the “he was tired and probably not thinking straight in issue 23″, if he gives a remote enough crap about his “principles” like he says he does throughout the comic, that shouldnt be a factor, he’d follow his principles no matter what, but in issue 23 he doesnt. and if that isnt good enough, how about issue 3?: 

i dont remember Sonic objecting to Rough and Tumble getting arrested by the Resistance: 

he just stood there, laughing at them while the resistance dragged them to some cell off screen. what about Rough and Tumble’s freedom huh? and before anybody gives me the “that was before they introduced his principles in the comics” excuse, that goes against the other excuse of “sonic has always had these principles in the games”. idw fans will go on and on about how game fans are “cherry picking” examples from the games to strengthen their argument. going off about how “game sonic has never been consistent” when idw sonic in of itself devoid from the games is also not consistent. thanks for coming to my ted talk sonic sez
