31 Days Of Helpol: Day Twenty-two
Is there an aspect of Hellenic polytheism you haven’t yet gotten to try but hope to in the future? Do you have any other Helpol-related goals for next year?
Libations!! I wish I had somewhere to do them but I live in a city and I'm too busy. Hopefully when this summer comes around and I'm in the countryside I'll remember.
Another goal is to be a bit more consistent in my worship next year and take it a bit more slow devoting time properly to each of the gods I worship.
That's all I can think of right now but there's probably more haha

31 Days Of Helpol: Days 18 to 21
Day 18: How can you best describe your relationship with each of your deities?
I don't really know how to describe it with most of them but I'll do some.
Lord Ares is a very paternal figure to me, he's a pretty constant presence in my life right now. He reminds me that I need to stand up for myself and my ideals and that he's there with me when I try to. He's there when I'm at my lowest helping to placate my more anxious and self-hating thoughts. He reminds me that it's okay to be tired but that you can't let the negative parts outshine the postive.
Lord Apollo is in my life through the things I like, he reminds me that art and music are vital things in my life and to cherish them. He's a reminder that even on the worst days the sun will rise and shine brightly upon all of us.
King Odysseus is a lot like a father to me as well, he's also my mentor in a way. He's very patient with me as I often feel too drained to worship him and his wife properly.
Lord Prometheus is always there to remind me the beauty and happiness that comes with existing and being myself. The beauty in caring about others and taking care of my friends.
Lord Hermes just pops up in my life every once in a life with perfect timing, he's very helpful and friendly and keeps finding me things to put on his altar
Day 19: If you had to assign one song to each of the deities you worship, what songs would you choose?
I have playlist for all of them but I'll give you the one I associate with them the most.
Lord Apollo, Sunlight by Hozier
Lord Dionysus, Dionisio by Rapsodia or Let's Dance by David Bowie
King Zeus, I'm still standing by Elton John
Lord Ares, any punk/political music, I have a huge playlist of it but also Nobody's soldier by Hozier
Lord Hermes, Don't stop me now by Queen
Lord Prometheus, Always forever by Cults
King Odysseus, I heavily associate with Welly Boots by The Amazing Devil
Queen Penelope, Movement by Hozier
Lord Hypnos and Lord Morpheus, Rises the moon by Liana Flores
Day 20: Do you have a favourite aspect of Hellenic Polytheism?
My favourite part is the community, the way everyone helps everyone and the fact that it's an open religion welcoming people from all religious backgrounds
Day 21: Are there any retellings/adaptations of greek mythology that you LIKE? Why/why not?
Anything by Stephen Fry is absolutely fantastic in my opinion, he explains things simply with a touch of humor. Also EPIC: the musical, even if it's not accurate to the original text, it's an amazing musical with so much effort poured into it.

31 Days Of Helpol: Days Fifteen & Sixteen
How has your worship changed you?
Obviously for the best. I've learnt so much about myself and the world around me.
If you could give one piece of advice to someone who’s just starting in Helpol, what would it be?
Don't be scared to make mistakes, there's really no right or wrong unless you do something extreme. Have piety, follow your instincts. Research, research everything you can. Don't neglect deities because you 'don't match' their domains, you can learn from everyone.

31 Days Of Helpol: Day Fourteen
Do you have any hobbies that fit any of your deities’ domains?
Some of them do fit. I sing and I adore music so that would be Lord Apollo's domain and I love traveling and visiting places so that's under Lord Hermes' domain, I also dedicate reading poetry to Lord Prometheus. Those are all I can think of right now.

31 Days Of Helpol: Day Thirteen
Do you write your own prayers?
Nope. I'd love to but life's been super hectic lately. I do love using the homeric hymns, greekpagan website has some good ones and it's easy to find more specific ones if you're asking for something, link here.

What’s something you’ve learned about Hellenic Polytheism that you wish you knew sooner?
That respect is different from fear, it sound silly but to me the two were interlinked before I began worshipping. You can respect without being terrified.
Also that respect doesn't have to be confused with extreme planification and having to know exactly what you're doing.
It's normal to not know what to do it's normal to improvise, it's normal to find your own way without it mirroring others paths

may lord ares guide you in your every battle, may he fight as your comrade in arms in every war
may he teach you never to suppress the passionate fury that resides in your very bones
lord ares, he who sees the every injustice you face and he who will be by your side as you seek retribution
he is your finest hour, your shrill cry, the arrow you release and the spear you gut your fears with.
never lose the gifts lord ares has bestowed upon you, it is of your nature to be passionate and furious, fight for what you believe and never surrender.
(im listening to rock music rn and it made me think of lord ares)

31 Days Of Helpol: Day Nine
Is there a practice that’s common among other Hellenic Polytheists that you’re skeptical about?
Not a common practice but Hellenic polytheists who disrespect King Zeus have been appearing a lot on my dash lately. You're allowed to not include him in your practice but you do have to acknowledge that he is Zeus olympios (king of The Gods) and should be treated with respect.
It usually comes from people who are myth literalists and it drives me up a wall.

31 Days Of Helpol: Day Eight
Do you have altar(s)? If you do, how do you use it? If you don’t have one, do you want one? Why/why not?
I have altars (shrines) for all of my deities with two exceptions (Lord Hypnos and Lord Morpheus, hopefully one day I'll get them one). I view them as a sacred spot to the deity I worship, I put my offerings there, I do my rituals nearby...etc To me it's a more physical way to be near my deities.
It plays a huge part in my worship because it's a physical reminder that the theoi are always around us
Surprisingly I have yet to actually buy something for my altars because everything they have are actually things I already owned that I thought they would like. The only thing I really bought was some imagery by my favorite artist.

Xaire the name of Ares, without you, I would have never found my way to where I am now. You weren't my patron and you knew that, yet you held my hand and guided me until I got to where you knew I belonged. And for that, I can never repay you.
Thank you ♡

31 Days Of Helpol: Day Seven
Are you openly a Hellenic Polytheist offline? How does being open/not being open effect your worship?
Only close family and one single friend know, they're pretty cool about it!
I don't think it affects my worship at all, it wouldn't change if more people knew about it. I like to think of my practice as very private and deeply personal.
I don't really tell them about what I do, they just know the basics of who I worship.
It's nice for some people (irl) to know about it :]
