On my way to meet a friend for lunch, I took a quick drive by an old childhood staple and caught some historic home styles along the way. As I walked into the lunch place I was headed to, I was more jarred by the beards and tight pants than I thought I'd be. As an on-the-cusp millennial, I drove through ironically listening to Taylor Swift's 1989 (I kept meaning to listen to the album and see what the fuss was about). If you are a native Miamian, I encourage you to drive through the non-gentrified parts of the Buena Vista neighborhood and then cruise into the gentrified parts listening to the album and see what you feel. Sit in a cafe on a street that used to be in a historically black neighborhood and people watch. Suffice it to say I have so much more to share about this, but that's for another time.

Sometimes you'll look around and think "that should be me" or "why isn't that me"? If that's truly the case, if it comes up a lot at work or at home, then go make it so (without murdering, obviously). Period. No shoulda, woulda, etc. If you think on this some more and aren't willing to do what it takes to be that or do that which you believe should be, then don't keep wishing. Accept your current situation and maximize what is right now in you and for you. We all have our own journey, our own strengths, or own missions. Most of them require that cornerstone of self acceptance...and self acceptance is a lifelong energy expenditure. Much like eating healthy or staying fit or brushing your teeth.

Read a deep book like Aleph by Paulo Coelho in India or a mystery novel about Vatican conspiracy while in Rome. When you wonder what you’re doing with your life, you will look back. When you look back you want to see that you did things that made you smile. It doesn’t have to be connected or a hindsight cliche, just something you did for you because you turned off your brain and did what you wanted, seemingly boring/academic/adventurous or otherwise.

Protests in the Ukraine capital of Kiev have escalated this week with barricades being set up in Independence Square. Instagrammers have taken to their phones to document the uprising through photos and videos of the protests.

Scenes show clashes with riot police as President Viktor Yanukovich enters into crisis talks while demonstrators continue to call for his resignation. The movement began after a landmark trade pact with the European Union was rejected.

This year's unspoken 'soul' resolution was to #putuporshutup. The short of it is to do something new, even if it's uncomfortable, every week. This morning I wandered around downtown after an unsuccessful instameet attempt. I ended up at the Floridian. I'd heard of it and hadn't been. Walking in I got exactly what I needed. Families, couples, dogs, churchgoers, and an initially sweaty Canadian man who insisted on talking to me even though I was clearly returning an email. If my 6lb dog could talk, she’d have a few choice words for me. Can’t you see it in her face?! She will literally not look at the camera or my phone when she knows I’m taking photos. If she does, she usually looks like she’s biting her tongue, so to speak.
